for quality, u need to look how much it price.. it price close to viva elite right?
so dont worry too much, if u want it just get it.. all car have pros n con, it depend how u encounter the problems later on..

As for the additional points robeng added, chapalang material is not just Saga, the same goes for Myvi, and the Dugong which is RM25k more expensive is not much better. Comfy? tell me one new car in that price bracket that is more comfortable than the Saga.

soooo many proton hater it seems, and yes i do support proton because why? my 20 year old saga, and my saga flx se never let me down and im happy that i bought it, at least i dont get soaked in rain with 5k bike 

although i can afford much higher price and can show off to people like 'godly' vios or 'mighty' honda city car, my main point is just to get to work and some traveling. its all come down to the reason why u bought the car at 1st place.

and for those who keep whining about cvt gearbox that wasnt made by proton, its from PUNCH company in belgium that also supply their gearbox for BMW MINI, ROVER, MG, VOLVO, GEELY, BYD, Southeast, HAIMA, Proton, GW.

your point of saving up for a better 80k car is no doubt very logical. One thing you failed to see here is the difference between you and TS in terms of profession. Judging by your reply, I assume that you're some executive working in a weekday 9 to 5 office. On the other hand, TS is a part time insurance agent, and also he is starting a new business (judging from his signature), therefore a car is very important for his line of work. While the public transport, especially the LRT is no doubt improved in recent years, however, it is still isn't efficient enough to have the capability to be the method of transportation for sales people due to its limited places penetration. For you, the period of 3-4 years of saving for "better car" by riding a bike to work isn't a problem, but for TS it is a big problem. I am an insurance agent myself and the max mileage I have covered in a day is 260km, average is 140km a day. I am sure any sales job covers about the same with if not, more/less mileage than me. So, put yourself in TS's shoes and ask back yourself, would you prefer yourself to travel 140km daily on a RM100 kapcai or you prefer to travel the same distance daily in a 40k brand new car (without the worry of breakdown, rain & shine) ?

Have you ever owned a new Saga?? was you bad experience a result of being burned by the car? Was your initial assumption for the TS is that he was able to dump in a large amount of d/p?

I am a ex owner, so I know very well what the Saga is and what the Saga is not. Some times I hate Proton to the bone due to their aftersales, sometimes The car put a smile on my face. It's not the best car money can buy, but it is definitely better than riding a bike. If you hate Saga so much, you could've suggest a used car or a Perodua. Your suggestion to the TS to buy a bike instead of buying a cheap car, when he can afford one, is irresponsible at best.

Very well then, at least by your account you have a basis for your hatred towards the car. I still don't agree with your suggestion of buying a bike rather than Saga, or any other cheap car.

For that budget n loan period, I would strongly recommend that u:

1) keep ur money and use bike instead atm
2) have at least 30k saving then throw a big deposit for better car with d same 400/mth budget
3) work 2-3 years more than only buy a good car

Im not hate proton. Preve & Exora are good car n mpv. But for saga, it just wasting ur money. 100% i guarantee u will regret after own it. Car is not investment.
