CFE reporting in! Next week should arrive, loan approved.

Other than the ECU reflash and overcrank, are there any other issues? Can I have these changes done when I get the car, or only at 1K km service?

Maybe TS or some nice chap can help with a newbie owner Preve guide! Thanks in advance all sifus!

I think ur car will not need the ECU update. Check ur chasis no first, according the the service center SA only earlier batches will need the reflash.

Hi kenlui, thanks for your response! I'm getting the 2012 manufacture - where do I check the chassis no.? I read earlier the 16xxx chassis needs to reflash? Am I right?

Is it possible to know what month the Preve was manufactured in? If yes, how?

Also, if it does need to reflash, any SC that does it in kota damansara area? If not, what's the nearest/best place to do it? Im browsing the service centre's on proton's website... hope I wont need to call every one and ask if they provide reflash... hahah

Feel really excited now! Thanks again!

Anyone planning on installing Racechip? Kinda tempted to do that but price tag is kinda hefty.

Was driving my parents around town today and my dad asked to send the car for checking.

What happened was while going up a steep slope I accelerated and the engine sounded like it was really underpowered and the car kinda vibrated a little and at times from a complete stop when I accelerate, the whole car will vibrate and the engine sound is really loud & annoying.

I take that as normal for the CFE engine. Just wondering whether the others are facing the same. Ady reflash and using firestorm too.

did u put into S mode or use paddle shift?

i went up genting hill in penang an the slope was REALLY STEEP, even i full pedal with gear D the car hardly move, in the end i drag gear to go up with paddle shift and it works pretty good
*
Was only using D mode. Only use the paddler shifter when I'm overtaking or when I need extra oomph

slot into S and go.

for the PUNCH CVT, sometimes when it comes to slopes + full people on board, need to slot into low ratio for easier and smoother journey.

When balik kampung that time, I jalan at Karak Highway using "L" all the way at those hilly areas in my Saga CVT with 5 people on board.

My dad was saying cannot be right your car jerking like that and making such noise haha

QUOTE(swk_sam @ Mar 2 2013, 08:10 PM)
This is normal even for jap auto car. U need to change to low gear going up hill to maintain the torque.

Thanks for replying guys. Appreciate it.

In the end, PUNCH CVT is very much like a manual transmission, only the clutch is operated via computer. What you have encountered there it is like you're driving a manual transmission car, climbing a hill on gear 2. It will not stall the engine, and at the same time the whole car vibrates like hell and making some eerie noises.

I thought the firestorm is supposed to come in handy?

Izit better power and more fuel efficient after using firestorm?
*
Pickup power yes, can feel the improvement. As for fuel effeciency, I think the improvement is minimal for me. But it's a worthwhile investment.

Next one would be the 'potato chip for' me

hi all, erm, not really clear bout what happened, but from complete stop to move during uphill, the cvt will let the engine to rev higher than normal to avoid sudden stall coz punch cvt is clutch based, same as when u r driving uphill from complete stop to move, u need to rev a bit more before releasing the clutch. The judder u feel maybe due to clutch drag and also an effect from low ratio pulley. Normally d mode, it will try to move to high ratio as soonest possible to aid fuel efficiency.

Since there r some torque reduction happened to ease slow moving motion, rather than instant power(quite dangerous if this happened which be like a rubberband), its one of the strategies so that it will avoid any unwanted sudden acceleration due to overrev. It is easier to overrev cvt based car coz not totally link to the gear ratio like normal manual gbox. While normal at used torque converter to control torque, this using clutch action n drive by wire sensor. Traction cntrl alsoo being used to prevent the wheel from spinning faster than it shud be.

I dunno whether this will help u, but checking during servicing wont do any harm.

For speaker vibration, i think maybe need to refit back the door panel(for front doors).

For suspension sound at back, i think its the fitting of top mount of the suspension isnt at its spot, causing the touching action. Normally, loosen up all the screws n refitting back will solve the problems.

Haish, assembly line workers tido ke.....passion is important in doing a job, even passion is one of the important elements being stress out before, still some neglected it. Its ur pride n honour to assembly urs truly car maker, be proud of it. I know, maybe the salary isnt high enough, but be patient, if we do it right, i,Allah, in the future, it will be better.

Salam.
