got my exec cvt 2 weeks ago, planning to change the speaker as well. izzit using 6.5" front and 6x9 rear?
Depend on your budget actually.
If you on tight budget, just replace the front speakers with a decent component speaker. I could not recommend any models though, not familiar with the market trends though. Try ask around but you better look for something that the stock HU can drive up, else you will need an amplifier to drive the component speakers to its full potential.
A bit more budget, perhaps component speakers + 4 channels amp + subwoofer (active or passive)?
If budget allow more, head unit + component speakers + 4 channels amp + subwoofers (active or passive).
If you much more budget, get something with active setup.
(headunit with built-in crossover, time alignment + component speakers (minus the crossover) + 4 channels amp + subwoofer (active). If you want to go for passive subwoofer, add in another 2 channels from amp just for the subwoofer. Either 6 channels amp or 4 channels + 2 channels or 4 channels + monoblock amp.
Oh ya,
ignore the rear speakers. You don't really need it. Either you unplug the wire or fade everything to front.
Unless you watch movie in the car, else I dun see any reason for surround setup.
For those who aiming for SQ setup, High-Mid-Sub (Tweeters, Midbass, Subwoofer) is the way to go
* Component speakers will require 2 channels from amp to drive it up.
* Passive subwoofer will need 2 channels from amp to drive it up
* Active subwoofer comes with built-in amplifier, you dun need to allocate any channels from amp for it.
