i lost my IC once and the thief used my IC to go to the hospital to see the doctor and left without paying, opened a telephone line, opened a current account, etc.
The most serious case was the current account. I have no idea how he did it. I got into trouble when 3 inspectors came to my old house to arrest me. Luckily I had a police report after the 1st bill came(hospital bill which isnt mine). They managed to arrest a girl who attempted to take out money from the banked. I heard the duo con a few companies of about 30-50k. Was subpoenaed to court to testify. Sheesh, created a lot of trouble for me.

normally it isn't. After I lost my IC, I wanted to make a police report but the police said i don't need one to make a new IC so I didnt make a report. About 1 year later.....I receive a hospital bill which gave me a shock.......I made a report directly after. That saved me from being arrested. LOL. Since then I am quite fussy about IC, Passport,credit cards,ATM cards and driving license. If I were to use public transport...I'll only have 1 IC 1 Credit card and 1 ATM with a minimal balance. Precaution is better than cure.

Oh i forgot to add this...I lost my IC at the hospital. I had an accident(motor cycle) where I flew about 3 lanes. So the entire situation was kind of blur. I can't really recall what happened but the hospital had my IC for registration and they claimed to have returned it to me. Other than that, I rmb i almost fell down as I felt dizzy or should I say almost fainted. So they gave me a wheelchair to sit on. LOL
couldnt walk for a month.
