Start an online begging website....
Each website with a different twist... Website 1: maybe about a widow who just lost her husband and need money to take care of her kids. Website 2: maybe about a bold teenager trying to raise fund for a poor family of 8 siblings who lost their parents. Website 3 and so on.. with different stories... Then advertise ur website.... and rack in the profits from all those ppl who believe in ur website.. haha This is a workable business model.... Any takers? hahahahahha I don't have the heart to do it ... maybe someone will have... |

I had a nice online idea, but since I don't have the time (or talent) to do it, i'll give it to you for free.
Why don't you run a car pooling community page? What you do is have people sign-up and register to be a member of the community, which allows people who live near each other and work near each other to car pool. And then you can support that site with promotions and advertisement based on their location. For instance, if you have an SS2 carpooling community, you look around for SS2 businesses, tell them about your website, and ask them to sponsor your site? Now the good thing is, it will be targeted (meaning SS2 businesses get to target SS2 residents), it fosters a sense of community, alleviates traffic woes, saves people time and money, helps people who just moved into SS2, increase the property and commercial values of the areas and can be a channel for people to meet new acquaintances (but beware of ambush robbers/rapists/psychos). If you want a partner, gimme a call. This post has been edited by spanker: Mar 24 2006, 03:15 PM |

thanks spanker, i thought it was a great idea too...until it kinda occurred to me, wont ppl just visit my website once, take the contact of potential carpool buddies and not return to the site anymore? I mean, just exploring the idea further, not shooting it down. let me know what you think, thanks!

I mean, just exploring the idea further, not shooting it down. let me know what you think, thanks! That's not the kind of thinking you should adopt. You should think how your user database will expand, and how they will be even more dependent on your system. For instance, what if you're only able to car pool in a 1 direction? So you'll need more than just 1 contact. How about pick up points? Drop off points? Or you can even diversify your services to include taxis, whom you can charge a small fee, and then you'll need a section to log complaints/feedbacks.Be creative. Which is why the registration part is important. You have to gauge what sort of information will be required in order to pass them as members. Naturally, the more detail you ask, the less people will want to register, so you'll have to find a balance.just my 2cents. |

Nice idea.
Not against it, but here's a few questions that is meant to incite the direction of where this idea is heading. How does this translate to an 'online business' because this is what the threadstarter focus is on? You couldn't charge participants for registering since it'll be a turn-off for potential users (Similarly, you can't charge participants for every successful 'transaction'- since it's quite a turn-off too). Extra benefits for paying users perhaps? Advertisements? Don't quite like the idea of depending on adverts. It's just an added bonus, not something to rely on. Maybe the answers have already been thought of, do enlighten me.... |

i can't be providing a solution to every single question you have, can i? Otherwise I'd be a consultant, and I'd be charging a fee. If you think that idea is feasible, you work out a business model for it, or you sign me up as a partner
