So far so good with the Anker Astro 2, 9000 mAh. Its small enough and with two USB ports does its job well enough. Went overseas with it and it has enough power for 3 to almost 4 times charging iphone 5s with about 10% battery remaining. Its design is compact without any buttons to fiddle with and this is a plus point for me. So I have just placed another order for one more Anker from ismartpower. This time its the Astro 3, 2nd generation, 12000 mAh. I want to use this when going for long distance rides and need to use the GPS which drains the phone rather quickly. I also do a lot of online web surfing in addition to listening to music and watching videos / youtube. Google maps has come a long way now with the turn by turn voice directions to reach your destination. Its surprisingly accurate. |

QUOTE(ahlin @ Dec 27 2013, 11:10 AM) If we use a fake powerbank but charge with a original apple lighting cable, will it affect our phone? Good question. How much would you trust the fake powerbank and the components that are used inside. Google search for the brand and check whether there is any case of the batteries leaking and cause damage.Just ask: Is the electronic design good with protection against overcharging the phone? If its cheap, it means that the manufacturer who still need to make money, will make sure their costs of making the battery are even cheaper to show a profit. So to make money, the manufacturer will need to use cheap or the cheapest materials which are not tested. Would you trust your RM2000++ phone with a cheap battery source with sub standard materials? remember, R&D costs a lot of money to ensure design, form and function works perfectly with the right kind of materials. Just an analogy, let's say you bought a RM500,000 car. And the battery needs to be changed due to wear and tear. Not exactly the same situation.... but anyway... let's see. Would you put in a cheap battery to power the car's expensive electronics such as onboard computer, dashboard with retina display, radio hifi system, onboard GPS system, anti roll system based on gravitational forces, anti theft alert and location system (find my car back) alarm and security system using finger print to unlock car door and start engine, voice controlled air cond lower temp, increase fan blower speed, wind down windows just by talking to it .... etc, etc, etc. ehhh... it sounds like an iphone to me Or would you stick to the recommended battery by the manufacturer, which costs just RM100 more. Save the RM100 and put in a fake battery and the car may not work well or last as long ... your choice... |

Fake powerbank (manufacturers) will cut down the cost, don't think they will spend cost on safety protection and quality. End up would be like this ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(ohde @ Dec 27 2013, 07:12 PM) superb reply A lot of people always there to look for bargain.. n they easily become the prey of the ever hungry predator... n when things happen, they blamed seller instead of themselves... Fake powerbank (manufacturers) will cut down the cost, don't think they will spend cost on safety protection and quality. End up would be like this ![]() ![]() let's face it.. as the Wise man always said .. Good thing no cheap, cheap thing no good.. if i spend 50K to do R&D and sell the item for 5? then how many i need to sell to earn back the $$ ? Might as well dont sell at all... We look at a scenario. This is an email we received from a manufacturer in China QUOTE Dear Friend Good day ! This is Mandy From China. We are the factory of power bank that do OEM with CE,RoHS certificates like below: 2200mAh-- $2.45/pcs, 4400mAh-- $4.5/pcs, 8000mAh-- $6.9/pcs. Great quality, competitive price and good service is our purpose! Are you interested in it ? Best regards So for a 8000mAh we can get at $6.90/pcs which is around RM23. Add in relevant charges such as postage and tax, maybe around RM30 if you choose the cheapest shipping options. We sell it to local distributor at RM35/pcs (earn RM5 per pc), then sell to reseller at RM40 (again, earn RM5 per pc). Do you think reseller will only earn RM5? Probably they sell around RM80 - RM100 depending on location. Question 1: At a price of $6.90 (RM23), what type of quality do you expect? If you are unlucky that it explode, you can't really blame anyone cos you choose to buy that Question 2: Ok, you said you bought not at RM23 but at RM100, so u expect a better quality. Well, the fact is, the production price is still less than RM23 ($6.90), it doesnt matter u pay RM23 or RM100 or RM1000, the fact is, the cost of production never change.. it still the same. Question 3 (Most common one) Branded one like Yoobao, Mipow, Anker, Energizer, Sanyo, Samsung, etc, the price can still be the same but they choose to mark up the selling price only. What makes we think the quality is better? Well, this is the most common question customer will ask us. And we always share with them, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Benz all are car makers, why are the price more expensive than a Proton Saga? Simple right? The fact is they invest in a lot of R&D to make the car safer and better and most important, quality is consistent. Same goes with power bank, some brands are spending money on R&D and they need to consider the cost of the R&D before they set the selling price of the final products. OEM only buy one unit, dissemble it, look at how it is made, and copy and paste.. quality wise... erm.... Round up There are few types of sellers in the market 1. Quality oriented - knowing the fact that an original item does not make as good % of margin compare to the OEM, FAKE, IMITATIONS, they still choose to sell ORI item cos all they want is a non compromised product in terms of safety and efficacy to their customers 2. profit Oriented - Always source for the cheapest available products and sell at mouth watering profit margin. 3. Opportunist - See other seller have good sale on the product, quickly go and sell too... (riding on other's success and efforts) 4. Heartless & Despicable - Selling OEM as Original item. Tell customers they get from overseas and selling cheaper than RSP as their cost is low.. Worse, these people sometimes go around tell ppl, "its not we are selling cheap, it's them who are selling expensive. They want to earn your hard earn money only" Buying at RSP doesnt means your item is 100% authentic. ALWAYS Buy from Authorised Reseller. Thats your best bet. |
