Exactly. My Nexus 4 came with 4.2 and staying away from 4.2.1 for now due to battery issues. rclxub.gif

Hope Google releases the next firmware that can fix the battery issue FAST! flex.gif

how would u all compare the nexus 4 with the new sony xperia z?
*
As a Nexus fan, the pure-Google experience is just second to none.

I've used HTC One X, S3, Note II, Xperia Acro. Still, previous Galaxy Nexus's interface looks coolest amongst all, and that is now replaced by my new Nexus 4.

The only thing that would be BETTER than the Nexus 4, is probably Nexus 5 with the rumoured (and most likely) 5" 1080p screen (same as Droid DNA & Xperia Z). But that would take about another 6-months at least to be released.

xperia Z have better hw specs.... but if you more thinking on firmware update... better stick with Nexus... if hw specs... go for xperia Z... unless u able to get both...
*
Not only that.

All the HTC Sense, Moto Blur, Samsung TouchWiz UI are really pale in comparison to the vanilla-Android. It's like downgrading your interface and replacing it with shiny poorly-designed stuff. However, some of the features (like in TouchWiz) would be great to add into the Nexus, though.

Only tested From my Nexus 4 to a friend's Nexus 4 so far, and works brilliantly!

QUOTE(ainuddin @ Jan 17 2013, 11:41 AM)
so nexus is the real and only android, while other android are capalang android like that ah?
*
Not capalang android. They're still good, offer more features (for models like Note II) but with a poor Google-like experience.

This might be a bit out of topic here, but did any girls using this phone? Or izzit a guy phone tongue.gif

One look also you will know it's a guy's phone. tongue.gif
Unless you get a colourful girly case. laugh.gif

I have to say my Nexus 4 actually looks more commanding due to the size and rugged-looks when put side-by-side with my iPhone 5.

bring another N4 along to compare and show them (or use their demo unit) and ask for a replacement. (can still get one to one replacement at the shop you bought it, if it is within 7 days of purchase) regardless of how faint it is, you should get a good unit.

I don't have the static issue but if i do have one it will surely bug the hell out of me. you have paid a good fortune for it, get it replaced. wink.gif
*
It seems that this static sound is a common problem for all Nexus 4 units.

However, I can't seem to notice the problem at all when making phone calls.

I'm still on firmware 4.2 though. Could that be why? hmm.gif

Anyone here has tried Sweep2Wake mod?

It's possibly the only thing that interests me now to root my Nexus 4.

If anyone has tried the mod, please give a short review of it! TQ

i've used something similar to it, it allows you to swipe from left to right while the screen's lock to wake it up right? used it for a brief moment,  but uninstalled it worried about battery life. but there's so much to do after rooting you know, backup apps, calibrating screen colour, blocking ads etc. you should really root, imho  brows.gif
*
It's apparently part of Bricked-Kernel. Details here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/37692-kerneldec...stickyfreqocuv/

The latest tweak to the Sweep2Wake is that it uses 'Interrupts' which doesn't drain the battery somehow according to the developers.

For me, rooting will unstabilize the phone right? Right now the phone hasn't crash on me and the apps haven't frozen/shutdown yet, which is great!

QUOTE(fookie @ Jan 25 2013, 02:02 PM)
a question here. many people told me not to overcharge at night. once it reaches 100% or when it stops charging, pull the cable out. i agree with that. but what about charging it constantly? I just got a nexus 4 and im afraid that i charge it constantly, like i charge it at 40% and plug it out at 70%, will it affect the battery life span?? need some clarification.
*
There will not be overcharging issues with Nexus 4 since the phone will disconnect current from the charger after full charge. Just touch you phone 1 hour after it has reached full charge and you will feel it's cold (meaning charging stopped).

The same goes for charging on my Panasonic QE-TM101 Qi Wireless Charging Pad. After full-charged achieved, the charging pad's actuators will return to it's 'sleep' position, noting that charging has stopped for the Nexus 4.

This is better than sweep2wake: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101488 , got double tap to wake, sweep to wake n lock, been using it for 3 days now. No significant battery drainage notice. Excellent app

OMG. This is awesome. Thanks a lot for this!!! thumbup.gif

Btw, this should work fine on rooted stock kernel right? hmm.gif

QUOTE(barrybear @ Jan 25 2013, 02:07 PM)
Well it actually depends whether it'll unstabilize the phone - based on the ROM, kernel, etc. Im using PA with franco kernel and not once it crashed. In fact, the performance is as smooth as when I was using stock rom.
Actually someone posted a link a few pages back about this issue.. but if your afraid of overcharging, I usually download an app for when the battery is at 100%, the alarm rings and rings until you actually stop the phone from charging.
*
QUOTE(sophan @ Jan 25 2013, 02:12 PM)
No. Rooting will not make ur phone unstable what so ever. What u do after rooting will determine it. Flash experimental rom n kernel, sure got few bugs,  but so hardly crash or froze.
*
QUOTE(sebastianX11 @ Jan 25 2013, 02:15 PM)
rooting will not unstabilise the phone... it just gives you admin rights to your phone... just like your co computer
rooting is still using stock rom
it is the rom that you flashed may cause instability

there are many perks of just rooting phone without the need to flash new rom
in fact stock rom is really fast as it is..

Wow. So much poison here. Tonight after work just got to root already. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

cos you need to unlock bootloader and you have to re-setup again  thumbup.gif  whistling.gif

Yeah. Sigh. Anyway, possible for me to root using WUG while maintaining stock ROM of 4.2? hope I don't need to upgrade to 4.2.1 yet. sweat.gif

I asked my friend abt the lock button which is using Gnex for almost 1 year++.... he said some time feel likes not so responsive already....so i worried and look for others replacement....This apps suit my desire biggrin.gif
*
Gnex is made by Samsung. Samsung uses really poor quality physical buttons. Just search up home/power button failure of S3 and Note II and you will be shocked, even after those phones were just launched! LOL. LG's durability is much better, and the button failure problem is almost non-existent, YET! rclxm9.gif
