did you cut your sim card? or it came as a micro? if you cut it, try filing the edges so that it can fit the tray nicely. during insertion it should be very smooth.

i had the same problem too, after filing it. it works. i guess the sim didnt make a full contact to the pins in the phone.

so it is already a micro sim? or the smallest, nano? sorry but i am not quite sure about the new standard here. if it is already micro, then just trying filing the edges a bit. use your nail filer, should work. i filed the plastic part, not the chip part.

they have restocked some of the bumpers. you can call them and ask whether it is rev 1 or 2. do ask whether they'll provide warranty. if still rev 1, then i'd say not worth it for 89 and without warranty. the peeling issue is for real. there is a long xda thread for it. better get from shirogawa or other seeler rev 2 with warranty from usa.

latest news from xda is rev 3 is coming. i ordered rev 2 from racerx.

maybe the yellow black one i'll purchase it in a few months time. i dont mind though, 3 years warranty.

Warranty is available if you import. Bro shirogawa would assist. Poetic gives three years warranty. Free replacement so far

Have just read the link. Apparently it affects original LG bumpers too. i misread the striked part

I guess using two different materials together poses a different challenge than just a tpu only bumpers. Now i wonder how good are those two lg like bumpers sold by sakura and lemon.

Why cant they produce a simple tpu one.

QUOTE(Hattori @ Jan 24 2013, 12:45 AM)
I think you misread.
They are talking about how "it also collects a load of crap around the inner edges" and not about official Nexus 4 bumper peeling off.

Only the last comment says that there is a small crack on his official bumper due to frequent taking it on & off, not like it totally separated like the picture.

I would purchase it too if the price is about RM 60 due to the good reviews on the material quality and feel.
RM 89 is way overpriced.
*

yeah definitely misread that! the eyes tend to skip a few words when you are reading it on the phone, the texts are much smaller.

why dont you get one from shirogawa or other bulk orders then? at least you'll get a full 3 years warranty from poetic, at a cheaper price too. around 50+ from shirogawa.

this thing is a bit annoying though, some folks at xda have been using rev 1 since it first came out with no issue. some used it for a few days and the peeling started. if you check the thread now, they said rev 3 is coming soon shakehead.gif how many rev do they need till they get it right? should have appointed a better QC manager. regardless of how affordable it is, things like this shouldn't happen the second time.
QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Jan 24 2013, 12:51 AM)
When fully charge is the battery still suppose to show the lightning symbol?
*

not sure on stock. with BMW it will put 'full' as a text. i have only charged it to full twice, the first time i got it, and the following day. have always stopped at 80+ %.
QUOTE(ArthurMickey @ Jan 24 2013, 01:02 AM)
Anyone tried Mako kernel with stock rom?how was the battery life?
*

mako is the codename of our device. you might be referring to faux kernel? really hard to say about kernels, your mileage might vary based on your usage. just try it out for one day and have the stock kernel reset zip file ready just in case you need to restore it.

Ver 3 for a bumper. How dissapointing
Got mine from shirogawa n expected eta is first week Feb. It is rm50 I remember n hope is ver2
*

yeah for a bumper that has a good feedback on how it feels etc, the QC is disappointing. oh well, just use the 3 yrs warranty if it happens!

anyone having problem with wifi? i dont know why my nexus connection is very slow when connected to home wifi. plus the wifi symbol is always greyed. from what i read, there seems to be a bug in android 4.2. anyone else having same problem?
*

sama la kita. i have issues only with YouTube and sometimes Play Store won't connect. on laptop it is fine.
QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Jan 24 2013, 09:21 AM)
But it shows 100%. Should I wait longer before unplug?
*

just unplug bro. if you read a few test papers done on li-ion battery pun they don't recommend fully charging the battery. it'll shorten the lifespan of the battery faster. deep discharge is not good too. i try to charge mine before it goes lower than 40% and stop charging at 80%.

if you average life cycle for a phone is just one year, that you don't really have to bother about all this, just unplug when it is almost full.

But if you are expecting two years or more from the device then try to stick to 40-80% method. you can read more from battery university and these links.

[INFO] *UPDATED -17 June 09* Battery life problems? Stop here!

[Guide] Everything you wanted to know about Li-Ion batteries but were afraid to ask!

personally, all my devices still have good battery health with the above method. My G1's battery was borked within 7 months because i thought it was best to fully charge and discharge. blush.gif

just a guide bro. of course on average daily usage you'll need to use it more than just 40%. i can't do it everyday either. but when i can, i would.

just enjoy the phone, don't have to worry so much. it is just a guide if you want to extend the health of the battery.

My phone has the static sound at the earpiece. It's faint but very annoying when making phone calls. How common is this?
*

bring another N4 along to compare and show them (or use their demo unit) and ask for a replacement. (can still get one to one replacement at the shop you bought it, if it is within 7 days of purchase) regardless of how faint it is, you should get a good unit.

I don't have the static issue but if i do have one it will surely bug the hell out of me. you have paid a good fortune for it, get it replaced. wink.gif

It seems that this static sound is a common problem for all Nexus 4 units.

However, I can't seem to notice the problem at all when making phone calls.

I'm still on firmware 4.2 though. Could that be why?  hmm.gif
*

when i was on stock, i didn't have the issue on either 4.2 or 4.2.1. when i tried some other ROMs (minco, aokp, cfx, cm) pun no problem. so most likely a hardware issue? hmm.gif i set my in-call volume to max in all of my setup.

to u Nexus 4 owners, how is the 3G tethering /sharing performance to other devices ?
*

it depends on your network provider's capabilities and coverage really. if your provider support DC-HSPA+ you'll get a very good speed.

i have tried using the wireless hotspot feature and created an access point. the device that is connected to Nexus 4's hotspot were able to get 13-14mbps. this is with my network provider that supports DC-HSPA+.

good coverage + dc hspa+ nexus 4 = good speed. the wireless hotspot's speed also rely on this speed to be good.

how to solve??

go towards the end of this page and use the search feature that is located on top of the 'fast reply' text. search for sim. report back after you have tried the steps that i used on my micro sim.

yeap. could be a problem at either

a) power source

b)charger

c)cable
d) the phone

try switching to a different power point or use a different original micro usb charger.

Sharing of experience on my accessories so far...c tpu case. Nice grip with smooth touch to it. Front facing have extra height to it to allow us to place the phone facing down

SP: Any SP is not *friendly* against tpu case. My XO SKIN (case fit) will still have problem with the tpu case on the edge. The tpu case will get the side of the SP to be peeled off easier. Just applied it yesterday and the water bubbles are still visible today. Need to wait another 24 hours for it to clear off
*

How does the buttons feel with the case? Are they still easily press-able?
QUOTE(fookie @ Jan 25 2013, 02:02 PM)
a question here. many people told me not to overcharge at night. once it reaches 100% or when it stops charging, pull the cable out. i agree with that. but what about charging it constantly? I just got a nexus 4 and im afraid that i charge it constantly, like i charge it at 40% and plug it out at 70%, will it affect the battery life span?? need some clarification.
*

no problem there. The test papers that i read recommend to charge when you can. shallow discharge is better than deep discharge. Yes it does automatically stop charging at 100, but a full charge is not optimal if you really really want to extend the battery life.i normally stop at 80 plus. To be honest, average smartphone lifecycle is very short, just charge it as usual and use it as usual. The batteries are good enough to last you for 1 to 2 years. What everyone seems to agree is to not let your battery run out till a very low level like 5% etc selalu.tu confirm kaput cepat

Nexus is very easy. Even the manual cmd way is just fastboot oem unlock,to unlock the bootloader. Try the cmd method if you want to learn more. very easy actually. A good learning experience id say. At least youll understand how the toolkit works.the toolkit is just a GUI

Even though was my first android it was darn easy too
The toolkit nowadays is even more simpler just choose n click only
*

if Nexus 4 have OTG, it can even connect to another device and act as a host. with this, you can root the other device from nexus 4! this is is doable on Galaxy Nexus, someone did it before, not many know about this though, i remember watching a video demoing how to do it, by koz i think. this is one of the many reasons to not let go of your Galaxy Nexus tongue.gif tongue.gif

My only disappointment with this phone : lacking usb otg support
*

from what i have read at xda, we won't be getting any OTG through software hack (kernel etc) because of limitation in the hardware. the hardware is there, it is just that it is not connected. i am not sure whether they intentionally did this or it is a snafu during production.

things that i wished it would have
1. OTG support
2. earphone jack at the bottom of the phone tongue.gif
3. brighter notification LED, doesn't it look a bit dimmer than the GNex? i am not sure though, have not compared them side by side.

but, it is still the best Nexus yet! very very happy to jump on the Nexus bandwagon with the N4 as my first Nexus!

hi tcmean
perhaps put a short guide in cpu binning and hw version on how to check them.

maybe put a link next to it?

for hw version should be fairly short "reboot to bootloader to check, power on while holding volume down"

For those who got the 50GB from box, the cap size limit per file upload is really a turn down to me.

So I just think to make that an online personal music library, since google music is not support our country. And I found
CloudAround.. which quite amazing to support most famous cloud storage. Wolaa now I can make use the extra 50GB as my personal music library and play it with my Nexus 4 anytime/anywhere.

For those with Digi 8GB can make full abuse on it  rclxms.gif

you can bypass google music restriction brows.gif i have been using it since it was launched to the public. i will share how to do it tomorrow, maybe in the new thread.
