The jerking in low speed acceleration, from 0 km/h to 30km/h, will it reduce considerably with time? Performance of the Focus is great with nimble steering feel coupled by sharp handling and powerful acceleration. Just the slight jerking at low speeds which spoiled it a bit. Having said that it's a good car. Funny that my Ford sales advisor mentioned one will not want to drive a Japanese car anymore after driving the Focus, and that the next upgrade will be BMW or Audi. Funny but quite true.

Just wondering, what fuel did you use? Petronas, Caltex, BHP etc.?

I was using shell for 3 fill ups and then had to pump in BHP during the price increase when Shell stations was long queued. After that day, somehow i feel the best in terms of smoothness/power and best FC with BHP. So BHP now.

Okay, thanks for the information. Will keep BHP in mind. Now I am using Petronas.

Ford Focus 2.0 ‘Plus’ models – 1.38% int rate until Oct.. drool.gif  thumbup.gif  brows.gif  icon_idea.gif  hmm.gif

Yes, the low interest rate of 1.38% is useful. Though I read that it is only applicable for 85% margin of financing for 5 years. If the 85% margin of financing is based on the OTR Retail price(RM125,386.80), that will be a financing of RM105,578.78 for 5 years. That will translate to about RM1898/monthly payment for 5 years. With longer loan payments say 7 years the monthly loan payment can be reduced, though we will be paying more at the end of the day.

as far as the manual shifting is concerned, the paddle shifter is much more ergonomic compared to this power shifting located in the gear knob...imaging when you're speeding fast(that's why you need S mode), I mean FAST, and you have to shift away your left hand to change gear manually...it's not just ergonomic, it's about SAFETY too!
*
I agree, but to a certain extent. It's not so much about speed. WHen one is traveling fast, usually it's on a straight road, so there is no need to change gear. The need to upshift or downshift only happens when approaching a corner or a tight bend, on twisty roads etc. that is when the speeds are moderate to low.

In vehicles which come with manual transmission, the driver will still need to take one of his hand off the steering wheel to change gear on the gear lever. THough I wager it's safer than doing manual shifting on an automatic gear transmission as it may be more difficult or cumbersome to find the upshift and downshift buttons on the lever.

Though I agree that paddle shifters on the steering wheel will be the most convenient and easiest in manual gear shifting.

Just wondering. Anybody changed the stock tyres of the Focus Titanium to silent tyres? If yes, what are the tyres and is there an appreciable difference in a more quieter ride?

Does anybody know if we can shift gear "D" to "S" while the vehicle is still moving? Does the vehicle need to stop completely with the brakes applied before we can switch D to S?

In Edmunds performance testing, a Focus Titanium with the automatic went from zero to 60 mph in 8.7 seconds -- on par with similarly powered cars in the class. With the manual, that drops to 8.3 seconds.

0-60mph in 8.7 seconds for the Auto transmission. That would translate to about 9.0-9.3s for 0-100km/h since 60mph is equivalent to 96.56km/h which is slightly short of 100km/h. Pretty decent I would say.

The difference in 0-100km/h between automatic transmission(8.7s) and manual transmission(8.3s) is quite small, just a difference of 0.4s. This suggests that the Powershift transmission in the Focus is very capable with little loss in power transfer since it comes close to the performance of a manual transmission.

In most other vehicles which come with auto and manual transmission options, the difference would be about 1.5s or more with conventional auto transmissions, CVT or 4-gear auto transmissions.
