may i know how is your average fuel consumption?
*
8.2l/100km since owned for a month. Average travel distance/trip is 35km with speed around 60km/hr. are u happy with the figures here? If you have a lot of short travel distance with start stop many times, it will Makan a lot of oil.

I am proud owner of ford focus mk3. My driving experience with FoFo is great. Only recent counter with warning message *transmission hit stop engine 9 minutes* when stuck in the slope with heavy traffic. The warning message was disappear when I escaped from traffic in the slope and back to normal road with slight jammed in traffic. Believe the warning sign is a protection to the DCT instead of real problem on DCT.

Jerking is gone after 1000km. Auto assist parking is a wow factor when I park my car in office. But not really practical in public road. But the bliss system is really good.
When travelled with high speed around 140 to 150km/hr, nobody notice it and still sitting comfort. the wind noise is very minimum at this speed too. Sync is working well except not ready for Chinese character and pronoun cation.

Hi james..the fuel consumption seem good for a 2 liter NA..can pls elaborate more on the DCT overheating?how long was the jam?was it at a carpark?was the creeping or stagnant?thanks
*
The transmission hot warning appeared when my FoFo was creeping on 100m hill slope around 30 minutes. Badly jammed during that time where all cars slowly going up the hill. The car transmission looks like sensitive with this kind of road situation. After reach the hill top, the warning disappeared immediately on flat road when searching for parking. Nothing unusual on my car engine after parked my car.
i will search for answer from ford sc on my 1st service.

just went to test drive this afternoon, the test drive car is having mileage 15000km, the car still shudder (many times) whenever start to go from stop... hmm.gif

The test car ECU might had been confused with different type of driving pattern from various tester. I believe it is normal for a test car that often jerking.

What are you expecting owners here to answer? If they agree with you, you won't buy it. If they disagree with you, you will insist that you are right, and you still won't buy it.

My advise to you: if you are disconcerted by the complaints on social medias eg. gearbox issue, then forget about the Fofo and look elsewhere.

Only use RON95. So far so good.
Never try RON97. Can't tell the difference.

I also interested to know the Park Lock Ctrl function.

Baramunk,

Please check your front plate number holder whether covering the sensor or not or best you can post ur car front pic here .....or else you may go back to SC for inspection.
*
Only enable or 'tick' the button of park lock Carl to free the gear box for towing purpose. I learn this from ford focus mk3 owner close group Facebook. Join the group and u can gain more from them.

I re-phrase..

I saw the measurement is actually:

Lancer Width: 1,760

Focus Width: 1,824

Strange. Photo see like Lancer is much wider.. Or website report wrongly?

*
The website figure is correct. You can surf ford Australia for confirmation.

Give u another surprise. Focus width only 1mm shorter than Toyota Camry.
Ford focus width 1824
Toyota Camry 1825

I own lancer sportback too. Sitting inside the cabin you won't feel any different between lancer and focus. Lancer legroom is much better than focus. But fun of driving is almost equivalent between two. But lancer sound insulation is really suck.

Malaysia Ford Sync only work on USB, phone voice command. Also only work on android phone on SMS reading.

Why so??!!!

Hahaha! ask SDAC loh!
SDAC also remove out lane departure warning feature too!
Maybe BN government can provide better answer! Not SDAC!!!

That doesn't make sense....even the Fiesta's voice command (which is not SYNC) can be used to control the radio, CD player, USB/Bluetooth/AUX and of course phone dialing. It can't read sms, though.
*
that's what happen on ford focus model. Please Check your ford sync manual book. And I also can't understand why those sync features are not included into ford focus model.
Nevertheless, ford focus still is a good car to appreciate. Lets enjoy the driving despite of yelling on the lacking in ford sync.

2) When the car is stationary, and there is nothing around the car. When i press the parking sensor button, sometimes it emit a solid beep tone and 2 red markers showing in front of car at the panel. This problem is intermittent and difficult to recreate and it seems to occur more often in stop and go traffic but it can happen anytime. Anyone has this problem?

*
it happened to me before. one of my front left button was kaput. it happened during stuck in the traffic jam, out of sudden, it prompts me with the message "Parking aid malfuction, service required" icon_question.gif

Took 2 days for SDAC Jalan Ipoh to find the kaput one, painting before fix it back to my Fofo.

Google is your friend. :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptive_cruise_control

This advanced Adaptive Cruise control takes the normal Cruise Control to a whole new level. If your vehicle speed is set at 110km/h, it will automatically slow down to suit the vehicle's speed in front if it is traveling at say 90km/h. Full automatic function. You don't need to apply the brakes and just let the sensors and electronics in the vehicle do all the work for you.

Of course, all these advanced features may promote "laziness". Full attention and alert will still need to be practiced as the feature will not prevent collisions with stationary objects or in extreme cases such as abrupt vehicle intrusion into your lane.
*
In actual fact, adapative cruise control is still working perfectly even wih abrupt vehicle intrusion into your lane.

check out Ford Mondeo test drive by China journalist.
take a peek on video 17:58 where they are purposely to make a test on adaptive cruise control.

Bad luck hit again...was caught in massive jam at puchong ldp just now due to the fallen crane near kinrara. While crawling, a message prompt on the odometer saying transmission overheating and stop for 6 minutes. The engine temperature is normal and there is no place for me to pull over so I just try to shift to N every time the car came to a half (before message prompt, is always on D with constant braking). Somehow I manage to continue without any weird gear changes or engine sound..googled and couldnt get a convincing answer. must prepare a list of questions during service time...if anyone here going for service soon, mind ask the service advisor n share it here...sigh
*
I kena more than 3x. SDAC told me just ignore the warning signal. Drive as usual.
Based on my experience, whenever struck in heavy traffic, always engage to N gear when halt in middle. It works and I didn't encounter this after all .

Don't step on brake pedal when pressing steering right ok button and start button simultaneously. Let's free your both legs.

Hi all,
I'm facing the same problem -grinding sound and jerking whenever on the slope crossing the hump since the day one.
Complaint to SDAC Jalan Ipoh, update the software on May 13, the grinding and jerking was reduced.
Most surprise me when went for 20k mileage service. i have a very smooth drive - no grinding and jerking for 2 weeks and the problem back again, but for me, it is still tolerable.

Since then, I test with different petrol station and notice some differences
1. Petron - jerking and grinding is always there and the sound is loud.
2. Caltex - slight grinding, still within my torelance. But recently the grinding and jerking went worse and horrible. Suspect "contamination" on oil tank on the same Caltex station that has went for renovation and stop operation for 3 weeks.
3. BHP - switch to BHP TTDI last week, the grinding is minor, jerking is gone. Still under evalaution. hopefully it is the right petrol for my FoFo.

My car mileage now is around 26000km.
