I think 7k for 2012 car is not worth esp for cold car.

what make u had a hard time to decide?

after 1.5 years owned a mazda 3 , I switched to focus.... the performance and driving exp away better than mazda
*
Well ford in general does not have very good reputation in terms of reliability but no doubt It has the best in terms of handling.tested both and i feel that the mk3 focus is definitely more refined..just worried about the untested 6speed dct whereas m3 has been around for some time and there is no major issues with car although it doesnt offer the latest tech available..

I will be using the car for the next 5 years and i travel average 30k km per year..so reliability is very important to me..

So the dilemma is between an older but tested car vs a newer but untested one..would be grateful is anyone can share their exp

Isnt the previous tdci running on 6speed torque converter?
And how much does it cost to service the gearbox?isnt it a dry clutch that does not require oil change?
QUOTE(gahpadu @ Jan 30 2013, 12:41 AM)
first gen tdci using the same gear box (6 dct) and most of the owner already traveled more than 100k km.Most of tdci owner are heavy footed and some of them even tuned the engine up to 400Nm and the gear box having problem free.

most of them recommended to service the gear box at least half of the stated in service manual (for spirited driver) due to the different climate in our beloved country.

Don't worry to much , u hav 5 year warranty rite?

I know that the powershitft in fiesta is dry..not too sure about the focus.maybe some owners can shed some light here??what is the frequency for service based on the manual?

MK3 is dry clutch... rclxms.gif

Is dry better?for vw golf the 6speed wet seem to have less problem compared to the 7speed dry

Hi guys, wondering if anyone faced / knows what this warning indication means. When I exit and lock my Focus, I get this Information sign that appears between my fuel and temperature gauge (attached). It flashes in red colour.

This only appears when the car is locked. I tried reading the manual or check for messages via the system but nothing. Did a system check as well and it said all is ok.

Just curious and a bit worried on this. Thanks.

interval service is same for petrol n diesel (10k )

My next service is 60k and still FOC so I hav no idea

rough idea up to 60k for both variant:

petrol rm3705 (Mazda)
diesel rm3950

it is highly recommended to service the diesel every 5k instead of 5k , so another rm450 must be allocated esp if u re always stuck in the jam.

just prepare around RM6k-7k /per 100k km
*
That is not too bad considering the performance u are getting..too bad no more diesel variant now..

Is there any difference in suspension setting for sport and titanium??its written sport suspension for sport but some sa say only difference is the rim size.
And the brochure stated that midnight sky only available for sport plus but the sa say the non plus also has that colour..any owner can verify?

8.2l/100km since owned for a month. Average travel distance/trip is 35km with speed around 60km/hr. are u happy with the figures here? If you have a lot of short travel distance with start stop many times, it will Makan a lot of oil.

I am proud owner of ford focus mk3. My driving experience with FoFo is great. Only recent counter with warning message *transmission hit stop engine 9 minutes* when stuck in the slope with heavy traffic. The warning message was disappear when I escaped from traffic in the slope and back to normal road with slight jammed in traffic. Believe the warning sign is a protection to the DCT instead of real problem on DCT.

Jerking is gone after 1000km. Auto assist parking is a wow factor when I park my car in office. But not really practical in public road. But the bliss system is really good.
When travelled with high speed around 140 to 150km/hr, nobody notice it and still sitting comfort. the wind noise is very minimum at this speed too. Sync is working well except not ready for Chinese character and pronoun cation.

Hi james..the fuel consumption seem good for a 2 liter NA..can pls elaborate more on the DCT overheating?how long was the jam?was it at a carpark?was the creeping or stagnant?thanks

The transmission hot warning appeared when my FoFo was creeping on 100m hill slope around 30 minutes. Badly jammed during that time where all cars slowly going up the hill. The car transmission looks like sensitive with this kind of road situation. After reach the hill top, the warning disappeared immediately on flat road when searching for parking. Nothing unusual on my car engine after parked my car.
i will search for answer from ford sc on my 1st service.

Thanks for the info..the reason i asked is because i need to park in multilevel carpark at work everyday

this is just a minor issue.. it happens when u press the brake for a long period of time in D mode.. so the trick to tackle this is pretty simple.. put your car on N or P when u anticipate a long idle.. cheers..

Thanks for the info..still waiting for 2013 sports to arrive for proper test drive

I did a test drive at the showroom at sprint highway.the car has 8k on it and the gearshift was actually smooth when i was passing through light traffic, moving from a slop and even better when there is straight road..but it did shudder a little bit when i intentionally brake and accelerate to imitate driving in a traffic jam...just wanted to feel the shuddering that ppl have been complaining about..its not that bad but it is there in certain driving conditiion

I suppose u need to adapt yourself to drive a dct as it is not like a regular torque converter.some forumers have pointed out ways to drive to reduce he shuddering.this is just based on my test drive exp and i dont own a fofo

Greetings!

If all goes well, I'll be trading in my 5-year-old Toyota Vios S spec with a Ford Focus this coming Friday.

Question is: Sedan or Hatchback?

Personally, I love sedans and hatches are not my kind. However, from what I realised (I test drove both the sedan and hatch):

- The Titanium+ interior colour is beige full leather (I don't like the beige colour, and this is a very big factor for me)
- The Sport+ interior is black semi-leather (I love the black, but I prefer full leather)

- The Titanium+ comes with auto-adjusting seat for the driver.
- The Sport+ comes with manual adjusting seat for the driver.

- The Titanium+ comes with a blind-spot assist
- The Sport+ doesn't have that

- The Titanium+ only has 16" rims
- The Sport+ is fitted with 17" rims

- The interior space of the Sport+ feels bigger than the Titanium+ (could it be the bigger boot space allocated for the Titanium+?)

Anything else I missed out?

As much as I love sedans, I'm leaning slightly towards the Sport+ sole due to the interior colour. Can I confirm with you guys that the Titanium+ only comes with beige interior?
*
Yes titanium + and non + only comes in beige interior unfortunately...mind to share where u saw and tested the hatch?

Tested it in the PJ SC.

Anyway, what are the common problems for this Ford Focus? Anything I should be worried about?

Read some comments that the Ford Focus parts are expensive as your BMWs, Audis etc., and the apparent poor service from the SC isn't helping matters.

Anyone can confirm this?
*
Ok thanks..dint know they already have stock for the ford focus sport.I have been waiting for 2 months cause they told me the new arrival will be at end of march. Not too sure about the pricing of the parts but maybe you can get the price list from the sc for common parts like brake pads, oil filter, side mirror and etc for comparison?
