Hi all,

Just wanted to check 2 things with you all on the 2013 Ford Focus Titanium+'s audio system. I understand our version comes with a 4.2" Sony HU + 9 speakers :-

1) Can the HU support the playback of DVD discs?

2) If yes, does this mean that the 4.2" could actually playback DVD / CD videos?

3) 9 speaker vs the 10 speaker setup in the international variant - does this mean the subwoofer is not available from our model?

4) If yes, can I install my own Sub and does it have an amp to power it up?

Thank you in advance for the time and effort taken to respond to this.

Just my half pass six knowledge: (3 months) and if i am not wrong sweat.gif :
1) nope, only support CD,MP3, CDRW and etc...
2) There is a after market HU  system(5' and touchscreen) around RM3k which i think support DVD. But your warranty will be gone.
3) 1 woofer on the dashboard above the HU unit. 4 mid speakers and 4 tweeters.
4) as above.

The sound system is ok for mp3, but the radio is not up to par..

Hope this helps.

Excellent info bro & thx alot. I'm just puzzled to why a woofer would be on the dash and not the booth - could it be a center speaker instead?

Cheers & thanks again

Just found out from the Focus Fanatics forum and a video review, that the middle speaker at the center of the dashboard is a Center Speaker and not a Subwoofer.

They have omitted the 10th speaker from our variant, which is the subwoofer from the trunk although the good news is that the amp is below the booth (near the spare tyre compartment) & probably capable of powering a low-powered aftermarket sub.

I can't recall having an amp on theĀ  car boot.

You're right - our doesn't even have an amp unfortunately - so it's one woofer and multi-channel amp down cry.gif

Good choice.....goes to show that you can never judge a person on their appearance. Serves them right. I was also contemplating between the Elantra, Mazda3 and Ford. The test drive blew me away and my choice was obvious.

If you read up forums and youtubes on the Ford Sync, you will realize that there are some inconsistencies and bugs with it. Search this user on youtube called "mercmilan". He has a comprehensive cover up on all aspects of his more than a year old car. There is a reason y they omitted the Ford Sync for the international market. Even Europe is using the small 4.2 in screen like ours.

I guess you can get some aftermarket rear camera installed if you want to.

I remember reading in the brochure last time, front and rear parking sensors are standard across all model range. I could be mistaken though...

QUOTE(blinky @ Jul 11 2013, 11:51 PM)
I think you meant MyFord Touch. All Focus models come with Ford Sync.
*
Blinky is right - it's the second generation SYNC, which is MyFord Touch

Got my man's jewel yday - excellent car indeed and hope no major issues crop up.

Btw, any recommendation for floor mats as the beige carpet mat isn't meant for people to wear their shoes inside hehe ;-)

Also, may i know what engine oil is provided in the service - was informed it was a fully synthetic (impressive for a free service package)?

Finally, the ICE is above average although the rear speakers and omission of the sub does make quite a difference, at least to me :-)

Nonetheless, no complaints from my side and looking to review the FC after filling up 41.58 liters to full

Firstly, congrats on your new ride. I'm sure it will bring you countless hours of joy (and maybe a few of heartbreak) as it has me.

For the floor mats, what I did was hack a few "coil mats" which I bought from a local carpet shop. Got 3 small mats at RM15 each and one big one for the driver's for RM30. Looks pretty neat, but corners won't stay where I want them to, so will further hack on some velcro.... should work. Of course, these are nothing in quality compared to those custom jobs that cost RM200 and possibly more.

FC now at 1K km is 12.11 litres/100km overall... is was steadily getting better to 10.5 but the last three days I was basically sitting in a parking lot for 2 hours a day, so now we are back to crappy numbers.
*
Thanks bro - will be getting a custom coil mats with some velcro later this week. I need the velcro to prevent it from moving around - which is a pain as without it, it needs to be re-aligned back to position.

FC seems higher than stated though I realize I'm a bit heavy on the pedal - another couple of days & probably I can get (or close to) the FC stated by the manufacturer.

Cheers man.

Just wanted to share on the multi-function keyfob for Focus Titanium / Sport + Owners (perhaps can added to Post #1). It can perform a variety of functions, including :-

- Lock (Press the "Lock" button once)
- Unlock (Press the "Unlock" button once)
- Open Boot (Press the "Boot" button twice)
- Double Lock (Press the "Lock" button twice - for added security)
- Activate/Deactivate Driver Only Unlock (Hold the "Lock" & "Unlock" together button for 5 seconds - to only open driver's door when "Unlock" is pressed, press unlock twice for all-doors unlock)
- Unwind Windows + Sunroof (hold the "Unlock" button for 5 seconds)
- Wind-up Windows + Sunroof (hold the "Lock" Button for 5 seconds)

If any of you have more functions - please do share it as well ok.

Just to confirm these functions also work on the non-Plus versions (except of course there is no sunroof to open/close).

Does anyone know how to switch on/off the ambient lighting, other than through the menu on the instrument panel?
*
Cheers for the clarification bro. I'm not sure on another way to turn of the ambient lighting apart from the UI in the instrument panel. If anyone else knows on this - please share as I too want to know on this.

Finally got my Candy Red last Saturday. Enjoying the ride very much and the car is so beautiful. Satisfaction level is Perfect.

It's really a wonderful car. smile.gif

Btw, do you all turn off the light or put it in "auto" mode when you reach home?
*
Congrats bro - be sure to join the FF MK3 Malaysia Owners Club on FB.

I initially left it at auto for the first week but I now turn it off after my final journey of the day as HID's wear off faster mainly by on/off cycles - so unnecessary on/offs can be avoided unless you require the follow-me home lights or if you don't want to remember to switch'em on/off each time.

You can manually turn on the Follow-Me Home Lights.

Just pull the stalk towards you after the engine is switched off.

Great info bro - need to try this later.
Also, do I need to set the HDlamp delay to manual for this?

Anyway, I think I figured out what happened...there's a setting for Auto lighting right next to the Ambient lighting setting on the instrument panel menu. With it on, the Ambient lighting does not come on in the morning, but comes on once it's dark  (dunno where the sensor is).
*
Bro, did you leave your lights to on / auto? If not mistaken, the ambient lights don't come on unless the light selector is switched to "on" or "auto".

Well for starters, I don't think I implied you not owning a FoFo unless you really don't own one and are feeling the heat from these queries? rolleyes.gif
Obviously, I posted in the forum expecting some "experienced" help rather than being told to go google - quite ironic i say icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the information. Good to know someone who owns both Ford Focus and Peugeot 508 Turbo S. I am not surprised that you find the vehicle to be more responsive with sudden acceleration from stationary or at any speeds. The Peugeot 508's torque at 240Nm is much higher than the Focus 202Nm due to the Turbocharged engine. In this respect I would believe the acceleration of the Focus will not match that the 508 Turbo. As to the higher horsepower in the Focus, I suspect the advantage is the engine has more capacity to achieve higher speeds when the vehicle is cruising at highway speeds in the excess of 110km/h, in other words less strain on the engine when trying to achieve top speed.

The interesting bit of the Peugeot 508 Turbo S is the 240Nm torque can be achieved at a low rpm of 1400 which is definitely impressive. Usually the maximum torque comes in at higher rpm but it's a different story with the 508 Turbo S. The published 0-100km/h acceleration of the 508 at 9.2s may be conservative for that kind of available torque though that can be attributed to the heavier weight of the car itself.
*
You will need to consider turbo lag (which will cause a delay in throttle response) and the size of the turbocharger - where smaller ones provide higher torque at lower revs at the cost of overall horsepower.

Unless it's a twincharger, I'd still opt for a NA as it's more linear and natural driving experience, but this depends on each individual - some like a more brisky drive and some like it smooth.

Guys,

Just completed my sport+ software upgrade this morning at Trio Mantap Taman Kenchana. Hopefully all the juddering and grinding will go away permanently. Currently now at 14K++ mileage.
*
That's good news indeed - I take Trio Mantap has already been given the latest transmission calibration update that everyone's been waiting for. I was there 2 saturdays ago and spoke to Lau - he mentioned the update (stable) wasn't available yet back then.

Just FYI
