I will be getting my new focus sport+ in a few days time. Very looking forward to that and I am keeping my 2 and half year old vw golf mk6. My opinion is that both are fun car to drive in its own way and it all boiled down to individual preferences. I was unlucky that my mk6 golf just got the engine replaced due to the piston head crack and subsequently the 7 speed dsg gear box mechatronic replacement.  The car only done with 40k km. Good thing is that it was still under warranty.  Bad thing is the warrenty claim processes took months and the VGM customer service literally bad. Not too sure about ford. Guess I will find out more...

I am thinking of getting the normal Sport version. The only thing I really want from the Sport + version is the Bi-Xenon headlamps. The rest are all fun but unnecessary toys, at least for me

Also, I think you made the right choice by not choosing the Golf. DSG is a ticking time bomb, especially on hot + jammed Asian roads.

Good choice.....goes to show that you can never judge a person on their appearance. Serves them right. I was also contemplating between the Elantra, Mazda3 and Ford. The test drive blew me away and my choice was obvious.

If you read up forums and youtubes on the Ford Sync, you will realize that there are some inconsistencies and bugs with it. Search this user on youtube called "mercmilan". He has a comprehensive cover up on all aspects of his more than a year old car. There is a reason y they omitted the Ford Sync for the international market. Even Europe is using the small 4.2 in screen like ours.

I guess you can get some aftermarket rear camera installed if you want to.

I remember reading in the brochure last time, front and rear parking sensors are standard across all model range. I could be mistaken though...

Just to share my experience, I finally got my FoFo T+ from SDAC (Jln Ipoh) last Sat. I guess i was pretty lucky. I made my booking on 30 June and managed to get my car within 2 weeks. According to the SA, different dealers or sales office get different quota.

So far i have only clocked 300km.. just a few newbie questions to ask..

1) I have read that most fofo experience jerking/shuddering at low speed. Mine's pretty loud to the point its like a mild knocking sound.. Is it normal, or is that anything i can do other than to clock a higher mileage?

2) When the car is stationary, and there is nothing around the car. When i press the parking sensor button, sometimes it emit a solid beep tone and 2 red markers showing in front of car at the panel. This problem is intermittent and difficult to recreate and it seems to occur more often in stop and go traffic but it can happen anytime. Anyone has this problem?

3) Lastly, i realised this car comes with only 4 car mats, 2 in front, 2 back. It doesnt come with a centre mat for passenger seat. SA said no centre back mat.

guys... the car is excellent in so many ways.. but is there anything you don't like about your car?

I start of with mine... the standard carpets of titanium.. cream color... very fast gets dirty... and left foot rest is not protected with a pedal or etc.. gets dirty... needs full area to be carpeted... got free from tint shop but not covering entire cabin floor... need $$$ spent more...

the number plate holder at back is not quality at all.. when close the boot it makes that cheapo skate rattle noise... i'm gonna change the front and back plate holder and the plate...

opening the door with the touch sensor is all good but locking with sensor seems like needs to get few touches to get the doors locked.. or is there any specific mechanism to touch?

I got some cheap coil mats from the local carpet shop and spent an hour crawling on my hands and knees to custom cut them to fit ... and what I tried to do is to totally cover every inch of the original carpeting (which I agree is a dirt magnet; my wife's Sentra uses the exact same material and same colour and now looks HORRIBLE). It looks OK but since the coil mats are the lowest possible quality (RM15 a piece la...) I don't think they will last. If they break down, I will try the same approach but with better material.

Fully agree with the back number plate... actually it looks like it's installed about one inch too low, as there are two indents that can be partially seen above the plate on the bodywork. I guess we can just place some foam double sided tape to stop the rattle when closing the boot. *sigh!*

My biggest pet peeve? No auto-lock after a certain speed! With the insane crime rate in Malaysia (don't ask our former Home Minister... he'll say it's all 'perception'.... idiot), we really need to lock the doors... whatlawei.... cars half our price also has this feature.

Second pet peeve? SYNC... the software is sooo finicky and I can't stand the fact it is closed source ... noone except the manufacturers can fix or enhance it! In this day and age, this is unacceptable. eg. Why do I have to power on my radio if I want to voice dial a call history number?

Air-con on Auto mode always cycles up to the max setting a while before throttling down to the required level... even in the cool evenings. At the max level, sounds like a jet engine... also, takes longer to cool down compared to Jap cars.

It's a bit weird I can't just push up the gear shift to Neutral without pressing the button; with our DCT it is always recommended to "free" the gear to prevent overheating... so one extra finger movement... (OK-lah I'm lazy)

There are other minor inconveniences but overall... still a driver's dream car...
