The different between low interest vs rebate around 1-2k only, low interest is cheaper. I think ford make deal with a bank, rather than give us the discount there give it to the bank so they can offer low interest.
The advantage if you go for a discount is, the discount can offset the down payment.

QUOTE(thefryingfox @ Sep 24 2013, 07:45 PM) discount offset downpayment yes - but interest from bank eat up your long term ownership That's what I saying, lower interest will make your car cheaper about 1-2k.. BUT, if you save the 5k from the rebate (not offset the downpayment), with 5% interest you will get 2k+ after 9 years.. So the conclusion is, for the bank the amount is about the same.. And also for us.. Just save the rebate in some investment account then you will offset the high interest from the bank..

QUOTE(awee71 @ Oct 16 2013, 09:23 AM) Hi, I am new to this forum and have been following this thread for some time to get to know the ins and outs of owning a Ford Focus. I have booked the Focus Sport+ and will be getting the car soon. I have the following questions that I hope someone will be able to assist: 1. I found out that the original battery for the Focus is not Maintenance Free (MF) version. I contacted my SA to ask if I can change to the MF type but was told that this is not possible as the original battery is under warranty. Is there any current owner who has changed to MF battery for their Focus and if the new MF battery is covered under the warranty? 2. I am trading in my old car for the Focus via the Ford dealer. The Ford dealer engaged their second hand car dealer to buy my old car and has completed the inspection and quoted a resonable trade in price. My query is on the trade in process. I was told that when I exchanged my old car with the new Focus, the second hand car dealer will not do the transfer of ownership until he found a new buyer for my old car. What they will do is to cancel my roadtax and JPJ will issue a receipt as proof. I am concern that since my old car is still under my name until it is sold by the dealer, I am still be liable if something happen to the old car. Is this common practice when we trade in an old car with a new one? I would appreciate any advice from members of this forum. Thank you. Anyone can confirm about the battery type? If not MF, meaning need to topup the battery water.. I dont think the design of ford focus make it easy to access the battery.. You even need to pull out the battery to refill..

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Oct 25 2013, 01:14 PM) Really? 0-100km/in in 8.2s is certainly impressive. I didn't realise the Focus can be that quick. When I owned the Nissan Sylphy 2.0 with a claimed 10.0s in a 0-100km/h dash in published reviews or articles, a forummer only managed about 10.5s. In my book, any acceleration below 9.0s or in the sub-8.0s in a 0-100km/h dash is already considered to be powerful. No wonder the Focus feels "light" during normal acceleration. I can't imagine what it will be like during hard acceleration. Will need to trash the car sometime. Soon. 1st time i floor the gas, the force caught me by surprise. More than I anticipated, so raise the pedal immediate and till now still not trying to test it out.

QUOTE(choowh @ Dec 3 2013, 11:54 AM) my car battery died again. is the 3rd time since got my car in 08/13. really frustrating. car parked in porch on friday and forgot to lock it. did not drive it over the weekend and yesterday couldn't start. called insurer auto assist and manage to jump start. i suspect some electronics stuff is draining the battery out even after the engine is being turned off. 1st time is during tinting installation. is embarrassing that it happen on the first week i the car and just few hours (tinting time) it takes to drain the battery 2nd time was 2 months back. this time towed to the service center to have the battery recharged 3rd time was yesterday read earlier post that some of you doesn't have such problem. maybe you guys try not to lock the car for maybe 4-5hours and try start the engine afterwards. observe whether the start up is as smooth as it use to be. When I was doing 1st service, the SC take the battery level print out. Maybe ford know about battery problem.. I do leave the car unlock sometime overnight a few time.. But never encounter the problem starting the car. Do you drive short distance?

QUOTE(lowkl @ Dec 3 2013, 12:51 PM) choowh, Very sad & concerned to hear about your problem.... in fact, of all the complaints about our ride (albeit not many), this is the one that bothers me the most. I leave my car unlocked many/most times throughout the night...8-12 hours each day; so far no problems. Do you have any peripherals attached, eg. cigarette lighter adaptors, dashcams, etc.? The problem with our car is that the cigarette lighter port remains powered up even though the engine is off (in fact I think it's even on when the car is locked!). It's will off after a few minute if locked.. But if unlock I think remain on..

QUOTE(Ken77 @ Jan 14 2014, 12:04 PM) As I said in previous post, everyone value things differently. I'm not a car expertise but for me, it is obviously an issue for Ford Focus to have jerking and grinding sound. I don't understand why some of keep on saying the jerking and grinding are cause by so and so techonolgy and its more superior. Maybe some of you are from Ford salesman or from Simedarby Auto Connection . LOL ! By the way, my schedule of changing clutch and shaft appoinment fixed by end of Feb.They have added the changes of new clutch might not solve the jerking and grinding issues. Sime Darby Auto Connection said it takes 4 days to fix up my car. So 4 days without car! WTF How frequent you felt the jerking and grinding? Over the distance of 12,000km its only occur 2-3 times for me..

QUOTE(vyruzj @ Jan 22 2014, 08:23 AM) I have experience it few time after getting my car. Happened on flat road and down slopes, most of the time is during jam. Is there a minimum or maximum distance for the active city stop to work? Sometime the sensor blocked by plate number rather than real obstacle...
