Yes.. Ron95 not problem... although most people recommend the use of Ron97 for cleaner combustion and better performance.

Due to the high cost of Ron97, I am using Ron95 + Octane Booster. Found this method to be cheaper... Anyone has similar experience?
*
Thanks for the information.

Any perceived difference between Ron97 and Ron95 when used on the Focus? Better power? Cleaner or smoother jerkless acceleration etc.?

Can we use ROn95, switch to Ron97, then switch back to Ron95 on the Focus?

Any advice would be appreciated.

What is all this gap about? It appears that most Focus showed this gap? I suppose there shouldn't be any unsightly gaps if QA/QC is good? This is indeed worrying.. especially if the gap isn't caused by the tint installers but come in its original state with the new car.

Better ask those already got their car but haven't go for tinting yet to check the gap. For me and my wife too excited when we first got the car until forgot to check the interior... tongue.gif
Now too late to recall whether the gap is originally there or cause by the installer at the tint shop.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely check it, but if the gap is really there during inspection, the common recommendation is to just the car to the workshop to have it looked at or fixed. Perhaps I'll just reject the car if I see this. But then it will delay the delivery as from what I understand there are no more Midnight Sky titanium, and the next shipment is in about 2 months time.

i go thru the forum and see most of the comments favor to RON97
How about Shell V-Power? Bad?

This Ron97 is intriguing. Thinking of trying it, but can owners change back to Ron95 after pumping in Ron97? Not sure if there will be any effects if keep swapping between Ron95 and Ron97.

The intermittent shudder with the new Focus. Is there a software upgrade that can reduce this shudder upon receiving this new Focus, or we need to drive the car for considerable mileage say above 1,000km or 2,000km for the shuddering to reduce?

for me... its about 2300km now. the shudder greatly reduced. never did software update.

Thanks for the information. Much appreciated. Good to hear that the shudder is greatly reduced without doing the software upgrade. Then, I'm curious on the availability, importance or existence of the software upgrade if the shudder can be reduced by itself with time.

hi guys, just curious.. for those of you who just received the new cars when did you make the order ya?
because ive been waiting for over a month and the sa just told me it may take another month or so wait.. and i made the booking at PJ SDAC >.<
ohh the wait is killing

It depends on the availability of the car, whether the car is already ready in-stock, meaning the car is already in the warehouse, or whether the car is still in Thailand ready to be shipped to Malaysia. Your salesman should be able to advise you on this. If the car is already ready in-stock, then chances are you will get it within a month if everything is smooth-sailing. Loan approval usually is quite fast, about 2 to 3 weeks. If the payment of the downpayment of the car is cleared, then you would be able to take delivery of the car within few days. Usually it also depends on how efficient is your sales person in arranging the whole thing.

I'm having a tough time choosing between Raytech and Huper Optik. I didn't want to post this on the main forum as representatives from both Raytech and Huper OPtik are active on the forums here promoting their own products.

Huper Optik mentioned that Raytech is a local brand and the Raytech shops here just buy the material from some supplier in the US. Apparently there isn't any Raytech HQ, R&D facility in the US. On the other hand, Huper Optik is an international company with offices in Germany, Singapore and rest of the world.

OF course, at the end of the day, it is the quality of product and price that count.

Anybody used V-kool before switching Huper Optik? The price of the Sech60 all round is almost equivalent to V-kool.

My wife's Sentra had V-Kool installed by the SA when purchased more than 8 years ago... at that time, honestly didn't even think there was such a thing as different grades/quality so was very naive and just depended on the brand; bottom line... dunno what type was installed.

Overall, the tint was perfectly acceptable; compared to my Altis (without tint, but with standard "heat absorbing" glass), you could notice the difference; nevertheless, in our crazy mid-day heat, the interior would still become an oven. The good part was that within 15 min or so, the aircon could cool the car down to comfortable level... my Altis would take mebbe 5-10 min more. Sorry for the very "gut-feel" feedback, but this whole thing was not a big concern.

About 2-odd years ago the front screen started developing "waves" especially under any sticker (eg. security for condo) that distorted the view. This was at the side area and it was usually covered up so this was not an issue. Then we used a screen-mount for a GPS.... wah! That "sucker" resulted in a permanent disc right in the centre of the windscreen! Over the next 2 years, the whole front started to deteriorate... eventually it looked like driving underwater. Finally when the car was sent for routine servicing the SC people recommended to tear off the front as it got so bad as to interfere with driving.

Side and back remain problem-free until today.

Have been using HO Sech60 front & back on the Fofo for now 2-odd months... no bubbles from Day 1. Slight distortion around the rear screen defroster lines, which has since got much better (but can still see at night). Love the clarity and the high VLT (I can't even tell the tint is there)... heat rejection "feels" better than the V-Kool, but mebbe just in love with the car... no complaints.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the post. Much appreciated. Coincidentally, my Nissan Sylphy also had V-kool installed under the Nissan package more than 6 years ago. Think the package costs RM2k+. I have just recently sold the Sylphy to get this Focus Titanium. I don't have problems with V-kool and the heat performance is good, only for the first 2 years only. Starting from the 3rd year the efficiency deteriorates, and it seems like the V-kool tint is not so effective in filtering the heat as when it was new.

I don't experience any waves or bubbles with the V-kool on my Nissan Sylphy, just a loss in efficiency going into the 3rd year.

I think I'll just cut it down to Huper Optik and Raytech. Too many brands available. Since I've tried V-kool last time, now it is time to try another brand. If Huper Optik, it will be Sech60 all front/back/sides or Sech60 front/back + C40 sides(cheaper). I will see if the Raytech equivalent in VLT and TSER is significantly cheaper than the Huper Optik. It is likely I will take the cheaper option. From what I gather both brands are pretty good, though installers are trying to fight off each other in this tough competition to win customers.

Cheers.

What are the price like for ho and ray tech?

Never consider llumar?

Raytech scrapped. Didn't inquire price as I dropped it. For Huper Optik, the prices are mentioned in one of the threads here. 3 packages available ranging from RM1.6k to 1.8k.

Our Focus FOB value is only RM34k+ only. Plus freight charges from Thailand and insurance comes up to about RM36k. The government really gets a lot from this tax revenue.

Heard from my salesperson the Fiesta's actual value is only RM10k+. Guess he's just plucking the numbers from the sky or something. Perhaps around RM20k+/-.

Guess the Mondeo would probably run around RM60k+/-. Man we are surely paying a lot for cars over here in Malaysia.

if possible can any member snap a picture for comparison.. Will show to them..

There is a very slight gap. Certainly not as big as the one in this picture. I guess the tinting shop guys didn't put it back properly for you.

I also have a similar gap... from the look of things almost exactly the same width....

Unfortunately, I have also installed a tint, so I'm not sure if it was there before the installation or not. However, from what I can remember, they did not touch this panel; they only removed the rubber lining surrounding the glass.
*
They have to open the door panel before they can remove the rubber lining to install the tint. But I have to say the gap is quite tiny and not really worth mentioning. There will be a small gap at the interface between the door panel and the body structure of the vehicle as it was not meant to be a tight seal. In real life it doesn't look as bad as it was compared to some of the pictures shown here.

I haven't got time to read the manuals thoroughly yet.

Was just wondering, can users add GPS navigation and maps to the system using the screen at the centre console?

The Sync function is pretty awesome, especially when users can sync the contacts in the mobile phone to the car's system and just say out the name of a person to make calls. Too bad there isn't any voice recognition to start the engine(In movie "2012", a man used his voice to start the engine of the Bentley).

Some US models look like they come with navigation, but not the models brought here.

I'm more critical of SYNC, not because it does not work (most commands recognised on first try) but because the standard for voice recognition and its POTENTIAL is huge... the problem is SYNC looks totally static in development. When was the last update with new features? Any extra apps we can install?

I guess I long for the development pace equivalent to smartphones for SYNC.
*
Okay, thanks for the information. As for SYNC, I am not very tech-savvy and was just impressed with the voice recognition feature in having the ability to call a person by just uttering his/her name. The feature is cool and convenient at the same time as it will render mobile hands-free kit to be useless or obsolete. Perhaps I was living in the stone-age for too long. Not too sure what other capabilities the SYNC has to offer, though I think I am quite contented with it at the moment.

Okay, time to read up a bit on the manual.

Yikes! SportyHandling.... have I offended you through my poor choice of words?... so sorry.... really not my intention. I was not trying to be condescending, just that this car has exceeded expectations in so many ways, yet SYNC has such potential, but IMHO not maximized.

I have since long left my bluetooth headset at home; the car-phone integration is very neat indeed. Still use the buttons to navigate the phonebook though, as the voice recognition frequently misunderstands my contact's names... not so good for Asian names perhaps.
*
Hah, not at all Lowkl. I am not offended at all, don't worry. If compared to my other more tech-savvy group of friends mainly the iPhone guys and audio enthusiasts who are into audio streaming, I am lacking far behind. My comment had came by when Aneip mentioned about Spotify and Pandora, both which I don't have experience at all.

The car is still exhibiting the infamous jerk as all others here have mentioned. Otherwise, everything is fine. Hopefully the jerk will be much reduced with time.

Any idea if the auto cruise control feature as found in the Focus Titanium/Sport + models can be added to the low-spec standard models? I've sent Sime Darby a question on this matter and was thinking if anyone here would know if it's possible.

Thanks.

you can get aftermarket cruise control which will be a cheaper options and less complicated since Fofo MK3 is using electronic throttle controller.

My 2 Cents

Thanks for the response. I won't be fitting an aftermarket auto cruise control other than the original Ford cruise control, fitted by Ford themselves.

So the auto cruise control of the Ford Focus is on electronic throttle controller. Sounds impressive.

kampoon means that the Fofo uses Electronic Throttle Controller, not cable throttle. That means you can also plug a aftermarket throttle controller that comes with cruise control function.

I'm not sure if it's available for Fofo, but if it is available the module can simply be plugged to the OBD2 port, completely plug-and-play. When service or warranty claim just unplug it to protect your warranty.
*
Okay, thanks. Will investigate further on this aftermarket device. I'll see what Ford says later in their reply. Have sent them an inquiry on this.
