I'm tired of seeing two big white blocks on my desk. Do you guys hook up normal speakers to your laptops or just use the internal ones?
I'm testing my internal speakers right now and the sound ain't that bad. But I'm a tad bit worried that playing music for the entire day might damage my lappie (vibrations, etc). Any opinions?

nope internal speakers on your laptop wont produce vibrations that will damage the components if you blast it until you crack them (assuming you have a builtin woofer)...then maybe....but its still a very big maybe as long as u play your music without any distortion coming in...your lappie should be just find but imho,....no laptop speakers can beat a good set of creative soundworks or HKs in spatial effects and sound depth

IF you're using ur lappie and have an external Speaker set, just use it. Especially if that speaker set has a woofer....

As for me using an external 2.1 Speakers & SubWoofer..........Enjoy the Bass !

I would suggest you to use external speaker, the sound quality is normally better and reduce the chance of laptop getting spoilt.

If you like the golden-day-type transistor radios, I don't see why the internal speaker can't be used.. but most can't be played at loud volumes coz.. i) Vibrations from speakers might cause problems to sensitve parts in the notebook (e.g. the HDD) on the long run ii) internal speakers can't handle loud volumes, if you force it, you'll end up with a damaged pair of internal speakerz.. I even seen internal notebook speakers that can't even go louder than a electronic watch alarm.. :tsk: If you really want to enjoy music, go ahead, buy one pair of good sounding speakx..
