Dear future Serena owners,
Was away on outstation trip with friends yesterday and he commented that the car were pretty good for the price, seat, comfort, looks, ride etc etcetc .
Only setback base on his experience were a little bumpy during our ride and a little noisy. ( never really experience this as 100% of the time, i am the driver and as for noise wise, i was travelling at 140km

.
Question - any of you owners wanna to share your feedback and experiences?
p/s:this fren of mind drive peogeot 508 and VW Toureg, dunno if he is comparing to his car...

I received my white serena couple of weeks ago. It has just clocked over 600km.
From my limited experience, I am quite satisfied with the car except for some minor issues.
It is probably not as sound proof as your friends' peugeot or toureg. Can't compare as serena is more of a van. Also it has the biggest door opening (2 auto door), plus the equally huge door at the back. The only thing separate inside and the outside are the rubber door seals around these doors. I have a prius which is quite good in term of sound proofing and I don't have any problem with sound insulation of Serena.
The engine does sounded a bit loud when accelerating. But once cruising, it is almost stealthy. But this is for speed below 130km/h. Have not gone faster yet.
As I have a prius, I have some understanding of how hybrid suppose to work. From my limited knowledge on hybrid on serena, I assume that whenever we don't step on the gas pedal, press on the brake or idling (full battery charge), the s-hybrid light should turn on. This means that the car is charging the battery, or is using the battery to power up your car. When I don't press on the gas pedal, I can feel that the car started to slow down faster as it started to charge the battery with the s-hybrid light on.
What baffle me is that this doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes, the light doesn't turn on when I am slowing down or braking. I think the car doesn't get charge up. I can feel this as the car can go much longer distance after I release the gas pedal.
I wish Serena have some indicator to show us how much power is in the hybrid battery, how much we are using and how much we are charging at any instant. This will train us to drive Serena more efficiently.
The fuel indicator is also quite jumpy. It can jump up and down a couple of notches within a short distance.
As for tyre size, I think they are fine. However, in my opinion, you can improve the car handling and stability by installing stabilizer bar, anti-roll bar and lower bars to strengthen the car body frame. This way, you can feel the car more stable when go at higher speed or going round corners.
Fuel consumption wise, it is too early to comment. I would think that we can achieve around 10-12km in city driving. If this is true, then it is quite good for vehicle this size.
