From what I understand, the auto idling signal turns on and off intermittently depending on whether the car is in a situation suitable for its operation, is it so?

QUOTE(soultracker @ Sep 17 2013, 11:24 AM)
Anyone encountered any issues with the auto idling system? 3 days ago I was driving down to jb from kl.. Suddenly the auto idling light on dash board started blinking non stop. After stopping to check for a few times, the auto idling indicator stopped completely.. No more lite up.. Even after turning the auto idling off to on or off.. The S-hybrid does not work anymore.. But after 3 days.. It sometimes turns on by itself.. But off later on.. Now at service center checking..

If you read properly the service voucher in the maintainance booklet, it is stated there that the 1,000km free service (labour only) is only valid before 2,000 km or 1 month, meaning that u have to use it before your car reaching 2,000 km or 1 month.

More than 1 month and not even reaching 1,000 km?! Mine 8 days and have already clock 1,000+

QUOTE(frank76 @ Oct 3 2013, 02:10 PM)
I want ask all the owner here, when do you do your first service? 1st 1000km or 1 month? I ask the salesmen, he ask me to reach till 1000km only do first service, but now my car only 700km nia but already pass 1 st month.
hmm.gif should i do it now or later?

I dont know about others but I'm satisfied with Nissan Serena. Value for money, my personal opinion though

QUOTE(FTEY @ Nov 14 2013, 02:19 PM)
No point arguing.
This thread is for already owners of the Serena to discuss about the car.
We owners know what this car is all about. No need for non owners to tell us which and which is more worth it.
If Biante is Great....open a new thread and discuss about that. Period.

At Rm150,000, I'll choose Serena. But if money is no issue I'll buy the new odyssey http://paultan.org/2013/11/14/2013-honda-o...hed-at-klims13/ brows.gif

QUOTE(Antzfield @ Nov 14 2013, 05:30 PM)
Hehe... i am also one of the happy owners too. biggrin.gif

yet to test drive Biante but so far really happy with the Serena. Personal point of view, from the spec sheet, Serena lose in term of no control knob for music volumn and channel control, slightly wider tyre size(205 vs 195), no front sensor,

On the other hand, Serena win in terms of versatility of 2nd and 3rd row seats (biggest advantage, for me lah), electronic control rear air-cond, cruise control, real push-start button,

Look is subjective but I prefer the tall boxy Serena look and overall package.

Good info!

Have you tried the highest speed that this serena manage to go?

QUOTE(chliew3763 @ Nov 15 2013, 03:10 PM)
Hi, all serena bro....

i had tried it at highway with speed 140km/hr. average fc is about 11km/l using eco mode.
fc,engine sound and rpm is better than innova. rpm just 2500 versus4000 rpm for innova.
The best fc is driving at 90km/l. The higher the speed we go on, the less of fc we can get.

Would like to hear more about other bro driving in highway experiance.

The power is quite good for an mpv. The only thing is that you have to switch off the eco mode coz the eco mode which make u feel that way.

QUOTE(lunchtime @ Dec 5 2013, 08:37 AM)
Had a long test drive with the Serena, with a 3 adults, it seems struggle to go up hill. Can owners confirm ?

I feel my serena is quite fast. Perhaps becoz my other car is only 1.5 wira which is very much underpower biggrin.gif

QUOTE(lunchtime @ Dec 5 2013, 09:20 PM)
I drove with ECO off. It struggles for torque.

No. But I've tried full load with 13 people inside (700 kgs). Power/acceleration is still good.

However body roll is quite apparent especially when approaching corners.

If u want an mpv with good handling and lesser body roll, I suggest you buy exora. For rm80,000 it is value for money. The power is also quite good though I feel that serena is more in term of power/acceleration and torque (I have test driven exora quite extensively).

QUOTE(sianglee @ Dec 6 2013, 08:08 AM)
Bro got any uphill experience such as Genting or Cameron?
Quite concerned about the power and also body roll on curvy road.

Perhaps yes, becoz if u refer to the previous posts, some of our friends posted in this thread they had that experience after changing to a wider tyres. But for me, the handling of the serena is acceptable hence I dont intend to change the tyres till the end life of the stock tyres.

QUOTE(ic-klass @ Dec 6 2013, 12:48 PM)
Would changing to wider tyres help? Stock is running on 195 rite?

It depends on your need. Of course if u wait long enough, newer model with better features will be introduced. I also believe sooner or later the government will reduce the vehicles tax to a reasonable rate.

But if u ask me as to the best mpv which is value for money in Malaysia as of today, serena is the model. Really satisfied with it. My children love it.

QUOTE(counterp2 @ Dec 6 2013, 01:04 PM)
i am considering of getting a serena due to the uncertainty of the next year tax excemption and the RM 8000 accessories offered. is it a good choice to buy now? i believe the newer facelifted serena will be here next year.

(switching accord to serena because of the serena space and accord waiting period is too long)

But in malaysia that is a norm. Even toyota previa (estima) launched recently in malaysia at rm270,000.00 comes with 4 speed auto whereas other market gets cvt. http://paultan.org/2013/11/14/toyota-previa-klims13/

QUOTE(sianglee @ Dec 9 2013, 07:59 AM)
For that price range not such thing like 4AT speed gear to happen lah.
Did you see any sylphy comes with 4AT? or TEANA getting 4AT ?

Uanble to deny that some parts will be locally supplied such as seats, shock asorber  and air cond compressor. But as core technology of S-Hybrid, engine and gearbox are not able/ready to manufacture locally yet.

I own a grand livina, mostly locally manufacture , but i dont see much problem with the car except the low resale value.

And nissan usa is giving 10 years warranty for their cvt gb?!?! They believe their product can last at least 10 years! This is almost crazy.

According to paul tan nissan makes the best cvt; Excerp from paul tan:

"The white-illuminated Fine Vision Meter is bright and clearly laid out, and there’s nothing much for a first timer to figure out – it’s all straightforward. The engine is very quiet at start up and low revs, and the CVT response is fast and immediate. I suspect that most who take these test drives won’t be able to tell the CVT from a torque converter automatic. For me, Nissan makes the best CVTs, so no surprises there. "

QUOTE(sianglee @ Dec 10 2013, 11:06 AM)
The latest Jatco CVT 8 which so much optimised for high fuel efficiency does have plenty of premature failure in US for Altima  end Pathfinder. The same technology was used in the SERENA too.
Worried about the reliabilty. Check here and u will see both cars using the same CVT8 gb http://www.jatco.co.jp/ENGLISH/products/cvt/cvt8.html
The issue is now burning hot in US untill the Jatco vice President, Tomoyoshi Sato was removed from his post immediately...

It is a good family car. In Malaysia it is value for money mpv. But of course if you dont really need an mpv or you dont really need it now it is better for you to wait as better car/mpv will be introduced as automobile technology moves forward

QUOTE(tehqy @ Dec 23 2013, 11:50 PM)
last minute research... I am glad I found this site... anyway, I've placed a RM1k booking (refundable, according to TC salesman)... test drive the car and I like the driving experience... but now I am just having second thoughts.... 1. next year we will be at 2014, and I've read in the previous post that the facelift model is coming with better technology? but then will the price be the same?...  2. The special interest rate of 2.41 (5 years) and 2.48 (7 years), is this the lowest in the market now? The rate is from CIMB and recommended by the Salesman...anyone has information on other banks?

I don't know guys... maybe I just need somemore information to make a decision that I don't regret later... it's just something about wanting to make sure $$$ is well spent. Btw, I saw the Almera with nismo package in the showroom, quite a nice looking car (after modified).

and p/s merry christmas and happy new year to all... smile.gif
