This is a Simple Hybrid, meaning the hybrid is only provide the electric motor to run only when the car start moving, so when stop, the alternator will recharge the battery for the next use, with this simple cycle, the Serena able to achieve up to 15KM/L or above, which is much better than the old Serena, Innova..... In real world drive, I assume the Serena will able to get around 12-13km/l.

I really need to rant about Nissan cars now. IMHO.

WTF is Nissan doing? I mean, our own ETC is ruining nissan nowadays.

CVT Gearbox - In an Almera, Latio, it's great. But seriously, they fitted CVT to all vehicles. Seriously, a CVT in a X-Trail, Teana, Elgrand, Murano, Serena?!?!!? Doesn't make sense at all! (Luckily they don't fit a CVT in a GT-R, THANK GOD). CVT only saves fuel but it ruins all the fun. 6-speed auto would be great.

Design - Look at Almera and you'll know what i mean.

Warranty - Seriously?! 3 years only? Most car manufacturers offer up to 5 years warranty. Some with unlimited mileage??

Equipment - Equipment is not really what you call "a lot". They're even so proud that they've fitted a Blind Spot Monitoring System in the Teana, controlled with a switch from the 1980s. And the cars we received here is so ripped off, adui... extreme facepalm.

X-Trail - My family owned one since 2004 and we decided to keep it. Why? It's great! But look at the X-Trail TC brought in these days. 2.0 2WD only. The X-Trail used to be one of the best selling off-road SUVs but now 2WD? 2.0?! CVT??!!

Serena S-Hybrid - Serena is already well known for underpower. Now even worse, hybrid. And the biggest problem of all, the price tag.

I seriously hope that TC would just rethink about what they did. IMHO Nissan is getting backwards nowadays.

QUOTE(Frustrated Customers @ Aug 17 2013, 08:05 PM)
I ordered a Nissan Serena 2 weeks before Raya. cool2.gif  And had a very very bad experience with the way Nissan manage its sales services and customers.
Firstly, I was offered to trade in my Myvi at RM17K. Then I found out that other branches are offering me 21 - 23K. Hence, I ordered for sales cancellation at this branch, so that I can order from other brance. After 2 days of processing, this branch offered me 23K. OK I ACCEPTED. AND Very regret on this decision doh.gif .

Following this, the branch sales person told me that CIMB always offer the lowest interest rate. After a week, I was informed that the offered rate is 2.59%. I was really frus that time, I personnaly call Affin bank Perak branch manager to check (A friend), he is offering 2.39% to the customer!  mad.gif  With all this hazzels and reapplication for the finance aid, my order had been delayed till after Raya.

Meantime, they told me that my prefered plat no is very hard to get, better to get runner for JPJ registeration. So I decided to work it out myself, and in just 1 hour, I get my prefered platno by only paying RM310, instead of RM360.

Now, the best part, when I am ready to handover my car and pick up my new serena, I FOUND OUT my car is in the showroom, serves as a showroom car, publicly view by the customers  cry.gif . All the internal mats and carpets are covered with sand and foot print. Even worst, the plastic cover for the seats are removed! I cannot imagine a new car I paid, RM149K of a car, is like a used car inside!

Guess what the management of that branch told me? "We have insufficient place to keep your car, if you are not happy to put the car inside as showroom car, we have to put it outside, where it is open to the risk of scartches, hot sun and rain."

It was a horrible experience that I can ever get with Nissan's sales services. I made complains to the branch manager, sales manager, and at the end do some shoutings vmad.gif  at the sales office and phone calls.

Now the last message that I got was, I will be getting a new, another car, with the offered kits (GPS and reverse camera). Let's see how.

Bro, you really been cheated by that branch when they told you your Myvi worth that much, because they can cover back the Myvi overtrade price from the CIMB bank loan which is higher the interest compare to other bank. (CIMB will usually give back incentives to the sales branch that successfully applied a loan from them) So when you go to get loan from other bank, there's the problem, who is going to pay back the overtrade Myvi..., and that's why they delayed the car, and then don't know where they found a showroom car for you, really pissed off. Please tell us which branch you got all these problem, warn other forummers beware this branch when dealing with them!

Its almost identical to the NV 200 van , thats the result of nissan cost savings strategy, too much items shared over the same platform.......
*
The Serena is sharing the same platform with NV200 is because they want to keep the cost down, just like VW, almost all the car is sharing the same platform, then will you say "I paid 300K of price, I don't want this car got share any platform with Polo or Golf or Jetta..."

As for sonyman case, I don't know how you see the Alphard, yes maybe it is bigger, but doesn't the Alphard look more like a bigger van when you said the Serena is look like a van, but anywhere you got your own choice, for me I won't buy any re-cond car anymore after the bad experience with my previous Estima. This car only last less than 2 years time with me and I have spent more than RM30k just for repair, keep giving me problem non-stop every couple of months, new spare parts availability also very limited and the worse part is very hard to find a knowledgeable workshop to repair this kind of re-cond car, even if you found one, they will really charge you the like Mercedes, BMW kind of price! Sonyman, if can find a van with proper local distributor with warranty, if not you will really regret, unless you really can find a problem-free re-cond Estima or Alphard, then go ahead.

Brother, Polo and Golf and Jetta are not same segment, all having different width,  thread and wheel base .
Not like Nissan all Latio, Sylphy, NV200 , Grand Livina, Xgear and Serena all ridiculously same width,  thread  and suspension system even they are being sold at different car segment market.
Alright you just buy NV200/Hiace and spent 50k for adding accessories  then you can get MPV called "van with proper local distributor with warranty" loh.

Dude I don't know what are you trying to tell here, what different segment lar and same segment lar. Nissan Serena width is wider than Latio/Sylphy even sharing the same platform. VW also doing the same way, from Golf up to Sharan, even the Audi A3, VW Tiguan and Touran also sharing the VW A5 platform, any problem? Nissan limit the width to under 1700mm is because of Japanese Tax exemption rules. Nissan if the model not intended for Japanese market, like the Qashqai and Juke both also having wider wheelbase even also sharing the same platform with Latio/Sylphy/X-Gear/Grand Livina....

If you guy looking for higher trade-in for your current ride, try to find Toyota, I heard Toyota is accepting higher trade-in value for used car if you want to get the current Innova, because the Innova is due to change a new model later this year

Serena Hybrid Owners Alert....

I bought my car 3 months ago and love using it... especially for family outings.

Yesterday whilst getting ready to go out, my wife closed the rear boot quite hard and less than a minute later we heard a glass cracking sound.

The rear glass panel on the top section of the boot had cracked on the left and right side... from the top to the bottom.... a clean linear crack.

DO NOT SLAM THE REAR BOOT DOOR!!!

My wife is a petite girl but the downward momentum when closing the door can be strong and results (in my opinion) in the glass panel cracking.

I've attached photos of the tragedy.[attachmentid=3830036][attachmentid=3830038][attachmentid=3830039]

How could that happened? I have tried to close the rear door really hard in the Nissan Showroom, but nothing happen also. I really slammed the door real hard even the people in the showroom looked at my way thinking what has happened, but the glass still in one piece. Is it got something hard object blocking the door close properly causing this shattering glass?
