QUOTE(sianglee @ Jul 12 2013, 07:55 AM) Believe very soon TCM will introduce CKD ver. with more ripping off at lower price.. Cos gov policy will end the hybrid duty exemption by introducing more tax relief for local assembled hybrid car. Not worried too much about price hike for tis SERENA S-Hybrid, gov now is under pressure to reduce car price . Eventually we may get other car/ MPV with less price or better spec (if car dealers not willing to reduce price). The choice is ours as consumer. We reserves the right to refuse the products thats having to many levels of exploitation. When did u plan to have one?

With the exemption of 75% excise duty, the remaining tax items left only the 30% import duty +10% sales tax. Says if TCM get the basic ver priced RM 82,461 +30% import duty RM 24,738 = 107,199 +10% sales tax RM 10,719 = 117,918 RM149,500-RM117,918=RM 31,582 - TCM tax/duty?

I think this MPV fills a hole in this market right now. For the price, here are the choices: 5 yo Estima 6 yo Alphard Peugeot 5008 Hyundai Starex Mazda 5 Toyota Innova Chevy Orlando Nissan Grand Livina Toyota Wish Honda Stream
For all it is worth, I think Serena is a better buy, at least for my requirement. You can't just emphasize on how much TC is making from this MPV, you should think of the value it brings for your own usage.

Even if it is a better buy compared to the non-hybrid MPV (this is a problem of no competition) just can't stand a company that take advantage of the tax exemption but didn't pass down the benefits to the consumers.

I was told by SA that the car uses 2 standard batteries (instead of 1 for non-hybrid). The replacement cost should not be more than RM300 each.

Take for example the Honda Jazz Petrol and Hybrid: Peninsula Price they are almost the same (considering rebates and freebies). Labuan Price Jazz Hybrid price double that the Jazz Petrol.

Read from PaulTan that this is only a simple-Hybrid. May be that's why the price diff in Japan btw S-Hybrid and non-Hybrid is only about 10% becos not much of advancement in tech. If non-Hybrid is selling in Langkawi at rm88k, then s-hybrid should be about rm97k. So hopefully(my dream will be realised, hahaha) S-hybrid would be priced around rm100k. At this price point all other MPV sales would halt immediately.

Getting Started

This is a Simple Hybrid, meaning the hybrid is only provide the electric motor to run only when the car start moving, so when stop, the alternator will recharge the battery for the next use, with this simple cycle, the Serena able to achieve up to 15KM/L or above, which is much better than the old Serena, Innova..... In real world drive, I assume the Serena will able to get around 12-13km/l.

Nissan Malaysia official websites has the prices of all their models EXCEPT S-hybrid. Previously CRV2.4 was also set at rm190k in one of the car sales website, turn out the final price is rm169k. Goodnight, I am going back to my dream

S-Hybrid is just a term to enjoy lower import duty i guess.
It is not a full hybrid like Prius / CT 200.
Maybe not even on par to Honda Insight thingy.....
