it really doubts me is tis mpv cbu from japan. The cheap plastics are almost like proton quality and thats the main reason i choose Ngl instead of exora.
Somemore the welding joints at both front doors shows significant poor wormanship. There are plenty of gaps left unsealed or with poor match. Its so unbelievable tats the JAPANESE quality or workmanship.
TCM tis time really disappointed nissan fans especially who owns a NGL. The most hurting part is they pushing the trade in price so low even their own car( 40%+ depreciation for merely 3yrs car) and I m forced to give up over serena.Imagine that how much more going to lose in the coming 3yrs with tis serena.
The stragegy made by TCM really makes big profit to their organization but it does fatally damage their image and reputation here.

Now wonders korean make could better....

Newly lauched and already so quiet, guess response not so good

Just overpriced as TCM too ambitious, they still thinking consumers like 10yrs back mentality that: new version must not cheaper than existing version even it is hybrid version.
H brand already putting their new hybrid version cheaper than some CKD one .
TCM just reluctant to return the tax exemption benefits to consumers.

Be frank either quality or level of refinement, the Serena S-Hybrid still not reaching RM 150k price level in most malaysian's mind.

feel your pain, helpless actually being bullied by the sales and management team.

sometimes when i visit the showroom, i feel the sales people are really cocky. probably they feel there are no competition in this section. Let see how many can they sell. i am just waiting for either a used alpahrd or a used estima. Probably not going for serena cause my wife hates the design. like a bloody van on the road.
*
Its almost identical to the NV 200 van , thats the result of nissan cost savings strategy, too much items shared over the same platform.......

QUOTE(feelfree @ Aug 19 2013, 10:35 AM)
The Serena is sharing the same platform with NV200 is because they want to keep the cost down, just like VW, almost all the car is sharing the same platform, then will you say "I paid 300K of price, I don't want this car got share any platform with Polo or Golf or Jetta..."
Brother, Polo and Golf and Jetta are not same segment, all having different width, thread and wheel base .
Not like Nissan all Latio, Sylphy, NV200 , Grand Livina, Xgear and Serena all ridiculously same width, thread and suspension system even they are being sold at different car segment market.

QUOTE(feelfree @ Aug 19 2013, 10:35 AM)
Sonyman, if can find a van with proper local distributor with warranty, if not you will really regret, unless you really can find a problem-free re-cond Estima or Alphard, then go ahead.
*
Alright you just buy NV200/Hiace and spent 50k for adding accessories then you can get MPV called "van with proper local distributor with warranty" loh.

Reason why there is no audio on steering wheel because Tan Chong Subsidiary are the one installing their own Radio/Navigation system. Japan cannot because all japanese.
The audio system is made by a local subsidiary owned by Tan Chong.  No brand.
The Free Navigation of  is not because they give free but because the car came without the Player.
You try ask whether they can exclude the free audio, my bet is they say cannot smile.gif

For 3,300 after market brand would be like Pioneer quality.
Is Tan Chong so good with their sound system?
Probably they just import a China sound system and put their name on it.

Typical.. hope they buy the best quality "Chinese" brand  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Heard from the SA the original Serena launching plan is with normal CD player and sold at RM 147k .
RM 149k-RM147k diff is only 2k niah, how can this Navigation system worth RM3,300 is a real myth oh.

mr sianglee, i notice u start hammering this serena and TC even before it was launch!! why u hate TC this much??!?
no offence, I just wondering only biggrin.gif
*
Not specific reason just really disappointed with what TC offered to malaysian as such well reputable brand since many years back. My dad owns old old sunny, I have a Grand Livina too. I'm not hating TC but want to voice out the disaapointment that they are no longer offering the kind worth for money car for normal family ...

Alright mr feelfree you may got your point somewhere. Im not here to bash any car or product but to share what i feel and noticed.

undeniable Serena is nice in certain aspect, like the new 2.0 dual cvtc engine. It does deliver nissan's strength in building refined, smooth and quiet engine.
I just don like the interior and wrong positioned price tag by TC.

And Im not here to promte any other brand, otherwise someone may think that im the famous mr J who always attack nissan products.

Thanks for the advices. If the most important - sales and customer services for a biz also they can't handle it well. I am reluctant to believe the quality of the rest such as car services.
My story of thed ends here. I cancel the sales order. Thanks to all for providing me the advices.

Anyone who is buying Serena , wish u all the best and will not share my experience.
*
I did cancelled my order too for this Serena hybrid just before the hari raya, but it due to the low trade in value and the similar loan rate problem as Frustrated Customers mentioned.

U r right.. indeed tcm is bloodsucker. No excise duty but the price is ridiculously high with only 2 airbags and basic features.

Was tempted but not going to be a victim of bloodsucker.
*
Haha at last someone agreed with me..
Anyway Serena is really the best in the class for 2.0 l minivan . Only the price not justified . I remember rm 150k can get the 2.4l 7seater Grandis in few years back, much better spec but pity come with 4 speed AT only.

Serena challenger >>> Mazda Biante Skyactiv-G 2.0 newly launch at Malaysia yesterday.

RM146,000 OTR. Info taken out fr paultan.org
Base on net info, Mazda JC08 FC rate is only 14.8 l/km, still Serena FC better 15.2. biggrin.gif.

RM 146k CBU biante is a big slap to TC Serena which enjoy the full tax exemption and sold at much higher price tag.
Serena tops the sale in japan is purely becos of the great tax exemption for hybrid car which is resulted in much cheaper price compare tot any other mid size mpv there.

My guess on this is ... new NAP may discontinue the zero excise duty for hybrib car under CBU ... TC would then make it available via ckd ... and probably sell it at 135k or so with some features being taken out like auto door ... and during promotion campign TC may further give another 5-10k discount ... so not suprising by end 2014 ... able to get this Serena below 130k ... some more with pressure from Mazda Biante soon ...

Should TC decide not to bring in cbu unit if new NAP not providing incentive for cbu/ckd hybrib ... very bad for current serena owners ... as may b lacking of spare part and become cold model ... hope government would still continue giving incentive to hybrib car ...

Just went to TC showroom for paying installment. The salesman promoting SERENA with RM 6 k cash rebate + DVD set.

Really good offer..

No unit for test drive unit yet, have to wait untill year ends .
Anyway the salesman did started the engine in the showroom as i requested to see how the digital display works on the dash.
Found the radiator fan sound is quite loud, may be the 12: 1 compression ratio skyactiv engine needs more cooling power...

Around PJ Sect 16, and Salak South. Yes, about the roll, that's brings us to thoughts about downhill from Genting or Cameron. My spouse isn't keen, she rather look at Mazda 8 or Honda ODC.

But I like Serena wor.
*
Try the Biante , its something in between Mazda 8 and Serena. Hopes it satisfied both of you and wife.
One display unit available now at Bermaz Motor Glenmarie.

I'm not the Mazda salesman but just to share with you that Biante could be more powerful and look more luxury.
But worries about the new skyactiv engine. Got pros and cons for both SERENA and Biante, choose what suites u most.

Check this out bro, the periodical mantenance fee quite expensive.
Especially at each 20k km interval. Not detail on itemise service yet.
But the list is down here.

The SA told me only $250 per 10000 service.
*
Need to check with the service center. They have the detail itemised bill. Some are not really critical like brake pad change or balancing service. I suspect the rm 600+ at 20k km meant for 4 brake pad replacement as single pair normally cos 300.

I feel my serena is quite fast. Perhaps becoz my other car is only 1.5 wira which is very much underpower biggrin.gif

Bro got any uphill experience such as Genting or Cameron?
Quite concerned about the power and also body roll on curvy road.
