Anyone received any additional discount for this Serena other than those advertised officially (2.38% loan, navigation/reverse camera unit, free service 3 times, free PA)?

2.38% loan for less than five year loan maybe, SA told that Tan Chong not even interested to consider any 9 years loan.

I went to one of Melaka branch. The SA said their profit is very marginal which the maximum commission they can get for each Serena is RM800. So the maximum they can offer me is RM500.

Usually nissan will offer high second hand car trade in price but this time i ask they just offer me very cheap trade in price. So just say bye bye to this Serena for this time being.

Price wise I think we no need to argue so much here. The money is on your hand. if you feel the money you pay is worth so just go for it. No need to complaint either cheap or expensive.

We are here at Malaysia if Malaysian do not have the capability to produce those quality car forever we will need to pay for higher.

For those already booking I wish you have a nice riding and enjoy your new ride.

Aware of that already. checked crv and cx5, the 17 in spare wheel taken almost 1/3 of the rear space.
Something to give and take, want more space u lose the spare wheel. Want spare wheel , have to sacrifice your space.....

At least TCM gives customer choice to have few spec to choose. I think a lot customer willing to pay more with those higher spec gadgets.

The spec TCM import in should the most lowest spec available.

I think TCM try to keep the price as low as possible. The only way to do it strip off some of the stuff. I read an article explaining bout why our car price so expensive.

This is also what I suspected, but when I asked such q in their FB page, they told me it is the "original" cbu from jp.

Taken from LLD, read this:

With its 1,997cc MR20DD petrol engine under the hood, the Serena S-Hybrid is eligible for import and excise duty exemption for hybrid vehicles below 2,000cc (which expires on 31-December 2013).

http://www.livelifedrive.com/malaysia/news...sia---rm149-500

I just feel that TCM is greedy and didn't pass this tax benefits to consumer becos there is no competition. I believe the govt will extend this duty exemption for hybrid vehicle to only CKD next year and hopefully by then price should come down and there wii be more competition from other brands. Just look at JazzHybrid and AudiA6 Hybrid.
*
Let me quote some facts here as example to gauge whether this new Serena hybrid is overpriced?

1) Civic Hybrid selling RM119k in Peninsular and 116k in Langkawi ... The 3k different perhaps is because of the 10% sales tax? It mean if excise duty and imports duty are waived, the Hybrid car selling in Peninsular should be not much different compared to the car sold in Langkawi

2) Premium mpv like S-max (2.0 turbo engine) is selling for RM199k in peninsular while in Langkawi is selling for RM109k. The huge different of 90k is because s-max is not an hybrid car thus excise duty and import duty are applicable for Peninsular

My doubt is :

1) Is the manufacturing cost of Serena MPV simple hybrid higher than S-Max 2.0 turbo / ecoboost? If not why Serena hybrid is selling @ RM149k? If yes it mean this simple hybrid systems is much more costly to build compared to turbo powered engine s-max which also come with much more accessories like 9 airbags, better sound systems, sun roof etc ... Not sure about this

2) If Serena Hybrid is not exempted from excise duty / import tax, it should be selling at around 250k or slightly below ... Is this Serena Hybrid really worth for RM250k if it is not tax exempted ?

Anybody has better view / explanation on this?

I'm keen to see if government not to continue the excise duty exemption and import tax after Dec 2013, what would be the selling price of this Serena Hybrid ...

By the way, I'm having a NGL and very keen to upgrade to this new Serena Hybrid but is this RM149k a fair price in view government is giving full exemption on excise duty and import tax ?

it really doubts me is tis mpv cbu from japan. The cheap plastics are almost like proton quality and thats the main reason i choose Ngl instead of exora.
Somemore the welding joints at both front doors shows significant poor wormanship. There are plenty of gaps left unsealed or with poor match. Its so unbelievable tats the JAPANESE quality or workmanship.
TCM tis time really disappointed nissan fans especially who owns a NGL. The most hurting part is they pushing the trade in price so low even their own car( 40%+ depreciation for merely 3yrs car) and I m forced to give up over serena.Imagine that how much more going to lose in the coming 3yrs with tis serena.
The stragegy made by TCM really makes big profit to their organization but it does fatally damage their image and reputation here.

Now wonders korean make could better....
