QUOTE(tlts @ Jan 9 2013, 01:52 PM) i want to save cost on dailly meals They are generally 2 types, Quick Cook and Instant (I use Quaker).any recomandation? atm i can think of oatmeal (never try this b4) any idea on which 1 to buy? instant or normal one? i only got hot water and microwave Plain oats with water is hard to eat (its flavourless). This is how I do it :- 1) Buy Instant Quaker (cos I eat at the office for breakfast, no time to wait for Quick Cook) 2) Buy milk powder (I use Anlene Creamy cos I love milk) (Any other brand should work fine too) 3) Buy fruits (banana and strawberry works well) 4) Buy Nestum Oats (for flavour. also gives added structure and body to the mix) Mix Quaker Oats with Nestum at 3:1 ratio and add milk powder to taste. Then add hot water and mix with a spoon. Then add sliced fruits and you will have a healthy and tasty meal! I recently also experimented by adding chocolate flavoured protein powder (mostly whey or blended - the same type bodybuilders use) to the mix and the results is fantastically delish! (you can omit milk powder if you are using protein mix). Protein powder is expensive so if you are on a budget, you can't go wrong with Oat + milk powder + fruits + nestum. A 1kg Quaker Oats tub plus 1kg Nestum is good enough to last you more than 2 months if you eat it once a day. |

Most international oat recipe use Steel-Cut oat. What does that mean? Why not use Instant Oat? Taste different?
