I like #1 but can't help to notice the very distracting dust spots/water droplets on the glass. Just clone it out smile.gif

When i'm taking this shot, i want it to have smooth trail, so i used longer shutter speed instead of freezing it.
So the settings are around 1sec Exposure, 100iso, f16.

pic #3 i used 1/15 exposure and f27. The train moved quite fast in the beginning, i used photomatix for the hdr effect.

U should get a ND filter, then can be more flexible with your exposure time

if u're really into long exposure, try black card technique, some believe it is much better than ND filter, because of the auto focus and also the clarity of the picture taken.
