I think the notification bar in 4.1.2 is black as opposed to the 4.1.1

I read it somewhere in the XDA about the changelog a while ago

since you chose remove bloatware in aroma, there is font selection in bloatware to install custom font. you should select custom installation. other way, extract font.apk inside romow.zip but to be frank, im not sure where it was located.

if no update normally server is crowd, is normal
if you can't wait and either use samsung kies or download from sammobile and flash using odin

Much as we'd like the concept of "no-bezel" I think some bezel area serves a practical purpose to frame our view on the screen. Of course, I am aware of the 6.3" and in last thread I also posted a shot of comparison between an A6-sized paper notebook, a 7" Huawei Mediapad, GN2 and an overlaid ruler.

The 6.3" should just be slightly larger than the Mate. Note that its dimensions put it slightly longer, width at 5mm more is not significant if you already have an otterbox whistling.gif

163.5 mm x 85.7 mm x 9.9 mm - Mate
151.1 mm x 80.5 mm x 9.4 mm - Note 2

1080p is a nice to have, but the compelling one would be A15 quad and 3Gb RAM. If full ARM linux gets released for this, you can kiss your notebook goodbye.

Good find on the link. Well, you already know the problem so maybe you should wait till it gets fixed, but that's only for GNex JB4.2.x.

God knows when Samsung will fix if at all.

curious to see how will sammy put an a15 quad on the s3, maybe with low clocks? a15 is pretty power hungry~
*
You are right, A15 has a high peak power consumption which makes it quite hot in small form factors. So maybe they will put a dual core, and then let the marketers try to figure out a Dual Core > Quad Core message rclxub.gif without confusing the public with lots of technical info. tongue.gif

BTW, I read the ARM spec sheet it says A15 has LPAE that can address up to 1Tb memory by the processor, but it's still a 32bit processor with backwards compatibility with v7A architecture.
ARM needs to take the leap to 64bits but perhaps by that time Haswell and son may beat the shit out of ARM.

You could try a custom rom and see if it works with your TV since it's not a dongle. But I'd like to know if games suck all the same even in your situation.

Like I said, racing games suck badly, and NOVA3 is ok because there's less high frame movement, but I was surprised that Bard Tale sucked too, like a Wii ...

or maybe have the BIG.Little configuration? hmm.gif

1TB of RAM?? rclxub.gif for servers might be useful I guess haha
ARMv8 is 64bits iinm, might be announced on 2014 or 2015 biggrin.gif but for servers first because, again, power consumption sad.gif

Have you tried DLNA to TV?

The dev for NoteCore kernel used to have HydraCore multiboot kernel for Note1, but hasn't seemed to put one out for Note2 yet. But then again, Allshare detects for custom kernel so this probably won't fly either.

Guys, any of you notice this. I mentioned earlier the shutter sound is gone in vibrate or silent mode. I notice theres no sound too in normal mode. My concern would be the self timer sound.

I dont intend to flash to stock rom but based on custom rom of 4.1.2 , there is an option to turn on and off shutter sound . Why dont u check yours under setting , 1stly to c if there is such option and 2ndly , if there is , is it on or off .

Easiest Explanation EVER To Explain Root Vs Jailbreak

Think of it like the Matrix: iOS Jailbreaking is comparable to what Morpheus could do. He could bend the rules of the system to overcome certain restrictions, but was still bound to its rules. Rooting is what Neo could do. Not only could he bend the rules, he could completely break them.

This could genuinely be a bug in the rom, but I do not think Samsung will be in a hurry to fix this as no functionality is impacted.

Haha....shutter and shuttle, R and L are at different ends of the keyboard. I know it's a common Malaysian Chinese error and this results in the mis-spelling of words that sound closely like each other.

well u can just mute ur phone to turn off the shutter sound and the other way round to on the sound as its easier than to go inside the camera settings to turn on n off as the mute button is just at the notification area.
P/S i am on official 4.1.2 DLL7 nod.gif

EDIT:seems like DLL7 battery life is worst than AJ3 hmm.gif here is the case, normally after unplugged my battery from 100% idle will can last me 3-4hours but now within 1 hour it will drop to 99% sweat.gif its a big diffrence.will monitor for another day and see if it really bad than maybe switch back to AJ3

The dev for NoteCore kernel used to have HydraCore multiboot kernel for Note1, but hasn't seemed to put one out for Note2 yet. But then again, Allshare detects for custom kernel so this probably won't fly either.

To be honest. LL4, LL5 and LL7 all have the same changelist. Meaning they all seem to be the same. LL4 and LL5 was for different countries and LL7 with the exynos fix for almost every country so far.

Download official rom from sammobile.com
Use odin in pc n flash the extracted tar file as pda
This process will not void warranty

FYI its not complicated and flashing stock rom through odin does not increase the counter and thus will not void any warranty as there is no traces unless samsung confiscated your PC and found odin or you tell them.

You too too old school. Jig CANNOT be used anymore since GB S2 time to reset counter. We now uses triangle away.

What app you use to check? Use this app to test
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2053824

If you are using the app from here do not believe it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
Instead try to root and see if it succeed or not.

Checked with the application, it failed, so it is still protected.
I think ExynosAbuse show exploitable due I am restoring from Titanium backup, which restore the config also

So, for those who want to keep counter 0 (status will always be modified if you root, sooner or later), can try this approach

Install 4.1.1 roms, Root using ExynosAbuse, then Update using Mobile Odin Pro to 4.1.2, it keeps counter intact.

*
ExynosAbuse show exploitable because the fix is not a direct removal of the exploit. Anyway as long as you flash the whole LL7 rom through Odin, you are already protected.

hey need help here...

Awake time should be the same as Screen On time right?

I have tasker installed, so when screen off the wifi and 3g will switch off and on back when screen is on. But check with better battery stats, it always shows my awake time 50% more than my screen on time, is that mean apps running in the background even without network connection like FB?

Wrong. Awake time is NOT the same as Screen on time. Your screen could be off but your device is still awake doing stuff like syncing, downloading, listening to music etc.

Dun think will have problem as your update was sucessful.

Word of advice, dump Kies. OTA or Odin is less problem and seldom fails.

An accessory for the Note2:

http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/30058-ki...est-flash-drive

Kingston came to CES 2013 with something quite impressive in its pocket, the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 flash drive.

Currently shipping as a 512GB model, the HyperX Predator peaks at 240MB/s for read and 160MB/s for write and measures at 88.53x26.94x21mm. It is, of course, backward compatible with USB 2.0 but do not expect anything above 30MB/s. The flash chips are safely packed in a zinc alloy metal casing and it comes bundled with HyperX valet keychain as an exclusive accessory.

Quite frankly do we really need such a big flash drive. I prefer multiple smaller size drives / portable harddisk to save my data/files/etc.. This way i dun lose everything if it rosak or lost/stolen. Saving our data into multiple drives is kinda like not putting all of our eggs in 1 basket. Well just my opinion anyway.

Or get 2x 1TB ?? hahahaha

Yes you are right, but if you actually do carry so much, then 1 backup at home is good practice.

Unfortunately at least 90% of users never do whistling.gif

Er, wipe clean and redownload again?
I wipe clean my phone, flashed to stock DLL7.
Then use CWM to flash Romow DLL7, factory reset again, I think one of the options says that.
Got everything after that.

I have to agree. Chenglu recovery maybe old but it never fails. I usually flash back to this recovery just before i do backup or flash new rom.

Hmm....the stock DLL4 I'm on is already 4.1.2 with the somewhat horrid grey notification bar. I've got good enough battery life on this one, so I'll hang on for a while and see what you guys write about smile.gif

I'm not too worried about the Exynos bug.

But hey, contrast this with crapple's handling of stuff like this while SJ was alive. "It's a feature, not a problem" or "YOU are coding it wrongly".

Pretty quick action on Samsung's part I'd say. Hope they get to keep it up.

Dear note 2 users,

i have a question to ask here...in your note 2 contacts...you can see your friend's name with the corresponding connectors either to google, whatsapp and so on, and the icon of each app will appear under the connections section when you click on any of the name...

i think when i first got the phone last saturday, the viber icon is there but now i discover that the viber icon totally disappear already...

So under Contacts page, when i click on the lower left button of the phone, i can select 'Accounts' and you can see the Sync Settings, showing which app is sync to Contacts list. I tried to 'Add Account' and viber is in the selection list, but when i click on viber, nothing happened.

Any idea what's wrong with this?

thanks!

That's expensive, but like bringing portable SSD,

This is also the reason I am grateful Snote2 support OTG, but wish there is an OTG that support Charging simultaneously.

corrects. i itchy backside (hopefully not nfsw word) and tried the touch and twrp. both are actually less useful.
prefer the normal 6.0.1.5 which is stable and reliable

best recovery ever. opposite of ROMs. ROMs improve with features, this recovery when installed with more features becomes less reliable, the last thing i want from a recovery icon_rolleyes.gif

Nice, but if you have to slap on another backcover, this is going to screw with the current case market. 1A or 2A, Energizer = MAHALNYA

@tot31, I think that is a technical limitation of the current gen tech for wireless charging. Either they need more efficient conductors (superconductor?) or an improved induction circuit, but they need to do this without frying your phone or your muscles.

To all posting this stuff, my humble opinion.....

Looks like Samsung single-handedly created the >5" phone market, (they should sue crapple if they ever ventured 4.3" and greater) and everyone's catching up.
No doubt the new devices are sexy and have some improved hardware, but do not forget the key differentiator for the Note series is the Wacom ACTIVE digitizer and the companion stylus.

So, despite *maybe* nicer screens and more mpixels, and perhaps lower price, the only valid comparison is when these competitors add in the Wacom/Ntrig or whatever ACTIVE digitizer.

Without that, comparisons will be lacking. Then again, Samsung could release a same spec device with no digitizer, but I think that would confuse the market, and likely cannibalize current Note series sales.

Yes I read too, for EU market. Or EMEA ? Europe, Middle East, Africa ? hehehe

BTW that Xperia Z stamino mode looks just like AIRPLANE MODE FGS !!!!!! (For gawd's sake)

So...instead of 1 TOUCH AIRPLANE MODE...

You get to click on 5 touch to MANUALLY turn off all your radios....that's innovation from Sony?

My first smartphone was Sony Xperia X10, I bought it because of the design and it still running fine. I also bought Xperia S before I bought the Note II. Design wise yeah Sony is good on that but on the firmware side they are really lacking.

Been a while , just that they concentrate in china and not globally . Fujitsu is coming as well . Had the opportunity to visit their showroom a month or 2 ago . Their smart phones are showcased in an aquarium as it's water proof up the 1 meter I think , can't remember the spec but definitely android based .

You can also connect to your Kies and update from there.
And if you're familiar, download the ROM and flash via PC Odin - fastest

So...instead of 1 TOUCH AIRPLANE MODE...

You get to click on 5 touch to MANUALLY turn off all your radios....that's innovation from Sony?

Get rooted with CWM and use Simplistic framework.

But for unrooted device i remember there is an app that runs on top of the status bar. Forgot what it is called OR if it would drain batt or not OR how buggy it is.

That would be the case if one were a trader, but we bought it for actual use, I guess any price up to RRP would still be acceptable to someone who wanted one.

I recall Cynox or someone from east msia saying the price in the week before launch went up to 2399??

If you have one you can try, but I don't think so coz usually these things are written with Windows built in USB drivers.

Search youtube i think there was some guy who tried this but don't think he succeeded.

Did you try SEttings>Language and Input>Samsung Kbd>Settings>Predictive Text?

Muck around in settings its always very enlightening. You don't even need to get your hands dirty like opening the hood of a car.

Er, I know what you meant, once you are out, tap into Gallery again, you will see back the Picasa albums.
So you have to do that every time. tongue.gif

I don't recall mine has auto-correction. It just displays a few possible words and tap on the correct one if you have inputted the wrong word.

@fruitie, you are right, for Qwerty keyboard, that's how it works.

@isabell, the auto correction only works if you switch to 3X4 keyboard which is like the keyboard of years gone by when we had the older generation phones when Qwerty keyboard was not in use.

We also need to view your main battery usage page besides the SOT, to be able to tell how good (or bad) it really is.

Do you use any of the motion control like quick glacé? It will keep the proximity sensor on. If all your motion is turn off, try to reboot the phone.

~~duhh~~
First of all..you need root in order to use MobileOdin.
For rooting with CF-root..unzip the files to .tar files and flash it via PC Odin in PDA section. Done and you're rooted biggrin.gif

On linux should be involving the use of ADB.... a little lazy to muck around with that, but I do have some desire to be able to build my own rom smile.gif

It seems to be rather similar to a kernel rebuild on linux from what I've seen.

Once you install CWM or TWRP the counter will be increased. As long as you stay with stock recovery the counter will remain at 0.

Dunno. Some people have this issue. Most don't. I think it's app related or something to do with the motion settings.

Yes, I still manage to get more than 1 day... but previouly I can easily reach 2 day usage(average 3-4hrs SOT) with a single charge... now need to get use to the new battery life...

Now I only notice I can arrange the sequence & which shortcut to show in Notification Panel... is it a new feature in 4.1.2 update?

any maxis expert here icon_question.gif , my primary sim in note 2 with unlimited data just capped 2mbps speedtest result in speedtest.net and maxis speedometer regardless any location with h+ coverage. I notice 2mbps capped since I apply multi-sim. my secondary sim with unlimited data just for my laptop i plugged in usb modem capped around 3.++ mbps which I think it's reasonable cause my modem only support up to 7.2mbps. just call maxis helpdesk and I dont think it help much. before apply multi-sim, my speed always get around 5-7mbps (serdang area) in my note.

It does look like you answered your own question....it is likely that maxis has implemented some capping to prevent abuse by multi-sim data hoggers. Are you on a corporate plan ?

I'm using Multi-SIM too and no my speed is not capped.

However, for new multi-SIM card has capped speed. Only 2480/2480 upload and download speed. Yours is a new SIM card? I'm using this multi-SIM since 4 years ago.

OK, at least this makes me feel better.

But no LED to show it is charging...

I'm using Multi-SIM too and no my speed is not capped.

However, for new multi-SIM card has capped speed. Only 2480/2480 upload and download speed. Yours is a new SIM card? I'm using this multi-SIM since 4 years ago.
*
my primary sim was in corporate plan with unlimited data then I wanted to subscribe multi-sim which my secondary sim with unlimited data as well was purposely for my usb modem only. both speed in my note 2 and usb modem not even achieve 5-7mpbs before I was corporate individual as single sim. got to go to centre tomorrow. Not even worth rm99 unlimited data just for speed capped only 2mbps. If that was in t & c to cap data hoggers, then I have to change plan to original state. thanks joytest and fuitie for your opinion wink.gif

OK, at least this makes me feel better.
When I tried to switch it on, my proximity LED does blink..
When I released the on/off button, it went off...
But no LED to show it is charging...
OK, will do this if Noobi3's suggestion fails on me.
*
I think Noobi's suggestion is correct, as it happened couple of times on my Nokia N8. Same situation, you need to perform a "topup" charge before it wakes up.

Hi guys,
Hope someone help me here. I just subscribed to mobile data package to my existing postpaid plan (Celcom). I have turned on the mobile data option in my phone and using the internet. I have noticed that at times the 3G icon on the upper screen disappear just like that and the internet disconnects automatically. Whenever this happen, I cant call or sms. It doesn't go through and I need to restart again my device to make it work normal again. Anyone experiencing the same? Is it a network(Celcom) problem or defect in my device? Kindly advice....

That's not bad at all. But someone here posted earlier with a 2 days plus usage with 35 minutes of battery life left after a 4 hours+ SOT.

I gave up, plugged out my cable and used my laptop to charge. Surprisingly the battery icon appeared and I think it is charging now...

Put back to my adapter, no effect. sleep.gif

Will try again with adapter when it has more charges, at least I see red LED now.

Hmm it's happening on the Note 2 as well? I use my Huawei Mediapad with a Celcom dataplan. The data connection changes to "no internet connection" and I have to switch Airplane mode on and off before I get back my data. My calls and sms do not seem to be affected though, since I can still make calls and sms even when I have no internet.

What's the difference between AP & SME other than the warranty?
E.g. Phone updates, functionality difference

Now...all we need is "difference between AP and SME"

I just hope it's a network problem worst case scenario. I am going to try disable the power saving mode and see whether the problem occur again or not? My heart can't afford a device defect (NOTE 2), just too much in love with her..........

Need help on tasker again, I want to ask, how to set to off wifi when phone is idle (no downloading, etc) when screen off.

If I set wifi off when screen off, it will interrupt like apps being downloading in the background while screen goes off.

Something like Juice Defender, but i dun have 1. So want to know whether can use tasker to do it that way or not...

corrects. i itchy backside (hopefully not nfsw word) and tried the touch and twrp. both are actually less useful.
prefer the normal 6.0.1.5 which is stable and reliable
best recovery ever. opposite of ROMs. ROMs improve with features, this recovery when installed with more features becomes less reliable, the last thing i want  from a recovery icon_rolleyes.gif

I rather link it to a computer box bro . Engine as the component of the car or in our case , the firmware. Computer box is the brain behind or kernel . Both cases cant function if u dont have a computer box or kernel . Different kernel gives different performance , battery saving ( not vey obvious on Note2 except for a few ROMs ) which is what we get if u tune our computer box .

Some stuff I posted in V4 thread:

A custom rom is basically the OS that has been modified, sometimes with special tweaks or additional apps. Since Android is based on Linux (ie Unix), there are 2 major pieces, Kernel and Userland.

You can change either or both. That is the beauty of a proper OS. Some features need stuff enabled in kernel, some features need other userland pieces and/or stuff enabled in kernel.

CWM is a method of loading both the kernel and userland, which comes after you've changed to a kernel that has CWM support.

CWM itself is a third part for phones called the "recovery" which I won't go into now.

Every phone already have a root system in the phone.
Rooting is to unlock/gain admission the phone root system.
