My understanding is that easiest way is using "ExynosAbuse apk" to root then do EFS Backup.

In case i need to go for warranty claim, i need to unroot and reset counter before going.

is this the most common method used by member here or other method?

This method is no longer valid if you are on 4.1.2 Malaysian Rom.
*
Ok, which one is most easiest and safest? and easy to revert back in case need to go claim warranty, please help, i am really confuse reading the xda site, it has link to many many other ways to do many things.

I use the chenglu method.  Revert is use triangle away, flash stock rom with odin,  factory reset.
*
ok, xda forum says triangle way only works "if your kernel support this, stock kernel won't support it" so i am worried, whether it works on my set or not.

how to check to be sure?

It works on stock kernel as well.

Triangle Away queries your kernel to see if it can do it without a reboot. Custom kernels can respond with the flash counter status and it will be shown in Triangle Away app.

Stock kernel cannot respond and needs a reboot before the counter is reset.
*
ok ok,

new sme set will come with 4.1.1 right.

then i only need "ExynosAbuse apk" method and forget about Chenglu method for the moment.

Look at it this way,
1) If your phone cannot boot but able to get into download mode you can flash back stock rom + factory reset which should solve it and u dun need to send to service center. Problem solved.

2) If you phone cannot boot and you cannot even enter download mode (example S3 SDS cases) then Samsung won't even be able to boot it themselves, hence they would not know you are rooted. So you still get your warranty replacement. Problem solved.

Edit: Fixed some grammar error before joytest comment on it.  tongue.gif

ya ok, make sense,

if i root note 2 using Chenglu method, i will be able to flash stock ROM 4.1.2 that already have been rooted.

in this case, i only need to unroot before warranty claim. am i right.

sorry for asking, i want to be sure before doing to avoid last minute panic.

To unroot the phone before sending to service centre.
- do TriangleAway to reset binary counter back to zero.
- flash official stock firmware with PC Odin...this will unroot the phone..remove the superuser and custom CWM with one go.
- do a factory reset.
- now you're good for service centre

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE2 TOOLKIT seems to be able to do all in a nice package.

i got a question, once i received my note 2, what are the check and test i should do to ensure the set is all right and good. i mean any app that can help me check.

If i perform Nandroid backup soon after root using CWM before doing any thing, i should be safe right.

Anyways attachment in my dropbox shows it clearly the mistakes in the order of the photos

1. 3234 - did not stick right to the edge, leaving gluey sticky residue
[attachmentid=3256186]

2. 3246 - did not align properly with the camera port, leaving some sides bubbly
[attachmentid=3256187]

3. 3257 - did not stick right to the bottom edge, as above
[attachmentid=3256188]

4. 3308 - excess material at the earport leaving a flappy feel to it
[attachmentid=3256190]

5. wordings are printed slightly slanted if you look hard enough
[attachmentid=3256191]

simplest way to check clone and ori note 2 pls...
*
I was wandering, can this Note 2 kind of build quality and screen technology can be clone?

I think holding the phone in your hand and looking/ checking can see that it is a clone.

Read yesterday posts by fruitie. Was amazed at the99.9% physical similarity of fake note2
You will need a original side by side to confirm the difference
Giveaway signs eg is different type of samsung sticker under battery
*
Wah! if can clone until 99.9%, we can easily being cheated, ok, really need to know how to check then,

Usually they screen will not be as nice
the buttons not as solid
the joinings wouldnt have such good tolerences

how about got to settings > about phone to check? must see at least N7100? can they clone that too?
*
I believe try capture a photo at low light and see the picture details on the screen will be able to tell already.

they can clone the physical outlook but not the quality beneath the set.

Also wandering, clone can do the s-pen? doubt it.
