Hold Vol Down + Power together until the screen turns off. It'll just reset it one more time and it'll get through.

Battery life depends. Most people say battery life is poor after upgrading. I just test today, seems to be ok like before.
The restart problem can be fixed by removing all the Windows Phone 7 legacy app. I had this issue last week and removing all the legacy apps solved the problem at least for me. Just use apps that are updated for WP8.

youre spot on. this morning, i installed calculator3 since its free for a while; its a WP7 app but said to be updated for WP8. later in the evening, i got my first ever random reboot since buying my phone and after that, i quickly removed the app. until now using the phone with no problems at all.

Okay, i think we now can conclude that the random reboots issue is caused by WP7 apps, not because of portico or not. hmm.gif

Guys.. anyone have idea whether maxis will add lumia920 into rm200 rebate list soon? I've got a rm200 rebate at hand ( but need to register the internet plan) and i wanted to use surfmore50 + lumia 920. Dont want to waste this rebate actually..

Btw, i just wanna know whats the bad side of lumia920 from all user here? And battery life if i just keep normal browsing all the day and whatsapp without playing game?

turn off NFC and background apps to make sure optimized battery time. avoid using WP7 legacy apps. customization especially for notifications are quite limited.

other than that, this phone is really good.

While out for dinner today I noticed not less than 3 people who had their phones on their table.. tethered to a battery pack that was larger than the phones they were connected to.

This along with the fact that the availability of battery packs have increased exponentially is a good sign that the phone makers need to stop making phones thinner and put in beefier batteries.

If your L920's battery is dying within 10 hours, it's just a matter of fact that power consumption has gone up way too much for the size of the batteries they're putting into modern smartphones.

It's quite simple to keep your L920 charged through the day
- get an extra USB cable and connect it to your PC
- get an extra USB power supply and use it in your office, you'll need a good one that doesn't produce line noise which screws up the touch screen.
- get a car USB power supply if you drive around a lot.

Your phone isn't going to last a day anymore, so it's time to learn how to deal with it.

I stop worrying about battery since i use another phone.

This the biggest issue in nokia for all their models todate you notice even at moment of critical their spec are going up too slow. The way the software manage its processor need to be priority to give a longer battery life

You're using a Note 2 right? While I agree that with proper software optimization comes longer battery life, the Note 2 is blessed with the fact that being a big device they can and did stick a larger battery in it.

Overall, feels its a lousy phone:

Cons:
- Battery life is very, very weak. Continuous usage of the phone gets me 2 hours plus of usage before it dies. I had 3 Lumia 920s, all act the same way.
- The stupid thing about the phone is that when charging, using any application will negate any charging and use up more juice than what is being charged! I face this with all so called windows 8 optimized apps.
- The phone heats itself up very, very hot with maybe a continuous usage of 10 minutes or less till I have to put it down for a while.
- I feel most of the applications (WeChat, Skype, Whatsapp) launches rather slowly, especially Microsoft's own Skype which takes a very long time to launch or even resume!

Yes, I tried everything:
- Hard resetting each of the phones
- No background apps activated
- Everything off (Wifi, NFC, Location, Bluetooth, etc)
- Only Windows 8 phone apps downloaded
- 4 Live tiles active (I removed everything else)

at first i also think that way but after u download the battery stats app i learned that its how the software optimized the usage of the processor.

Here an example
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPho...2&idPhone2=4967

Motorola DROID RAZR HD vs Lumia 920

Notice the size smaller than Lumia 920
Bigger screen than lumia
have card slot external
Bigger battery capacity

still its capable to fit such a big battery. Question is whether nokia wants it or not.

Portico doesn't not have anything to do with random reboots to begin with.
I find the solution very logical because when you first got the phone you will not experience any reboots unless you install a lot of apps. Those legacy apps is not fully compatible with WP8 causing the phone to crash resulting in the reboot. If you have this random reboot, try and uninstall every single legacy app. If it still reboots itself it means you have not removed all the legacy app.

Forget about razr maxx in terms of battery life, even note 2 also lose to it.

I think windows phone still can do some optimization on it. My battery life is average, but still can last for 1 day without issue.

There are so many things that needs to be improve. For instance the backup system, they need to make a software that could back everything up so that we could restore everything besides contact, pictures and some setting. There is no way to backup our apps and such a was of bandwidth to install everything again when you update something without the OTA update.

There is so many things to be improved like the interface itself, they should add more functionality and more options to the settings as well, there is so many things lacking in WP8. I could name a lot of them but it will take me a lot of time.......gonna sleep lol

I don't see Microsoft announcing anything, they should really at least tell their customers that an update is on the way or something. Or that they are trying to improve their OS or something, but instead we get nothing sad.gif
