I dun understand this, Maxis did show the Lumia 820 was available in their ad in newsaper but they dun have the 920... And i doubt after the Pureview Eos or whatever is called is revealed late this month, ppl will be hunting for 920 anymore, unless they dont plan to own a brick.

what is the right mp3 format in order to work?
*
Mp3 format can. Crop your song - no longer than 30secs, and 1Mb size or less - the max bitrate to achieve this (1MB @30secs) is 256kbps. I do it on my laptop, then transfer to the ringtone folder.

lumia 1000?  icon_idea.gif

Nokia's naming tradition has always been 1-9, arranged in a way from lowest to highest end. Digit 4 is never used, the chinese pantang mah. The same applied to the now discontinued N series. I dont believe the naming will be Lumia 1000 unless it is a tablet, because the first digit is is 1.

After Nokia used up all the digits, like 900-990 for the 9** series, i'd think it is nicer to slap in alphabets for the newer generation of Nokia phones, maybe from windows phone 9 onwards, such as, Lumia X90.

I just bought Lumia 920. I went to Celcom to get the new Micro-SIM for it. Why it show "local network operator" info on my screen?. Everything worked well including browsing internet its just the message seems kinda annoying. Is this a bug which could be fix with the upcoming update. FYI i already updated my Network+ and Access Point.
*
I cut my sim, and it also shows the same, changing to a new sim does not necessarily solve that issue it seems. But im not really bothered by it.

nokia chinese kah?  tongue.gif

anyway, got rumours nokia come out tablet eh? lumia 1000 sounds so futuristic, maybe its a prototype name before they unveil the real retail name.

and older nokia's were 4 numbers; 3310 8210 8850 etc.  smile.gif
*
Im referring to the number 4 itself... For example, N series:
N70-73, N76-79, N80-82, N85, N86, N90-93, N95-97, N8, N9, N900, N950; C1-C3, C5-C7 (of course no C4 lah, if name C4 cannot pas kastam lor). tongue.gif
Even the Asha series 1xx-3xx, skip digit 4, digit 5xx onwards is Lumia. There are also 5xx, 6xx and 7xx symbian belle phones. The old Nokia phones with 4 digits, the number 4 is also not used.

If it's true then i damn headache liao, the Xbox games ahh... dunno want download till when, all big size... =.=;
Not to mention some of my apps are purchased from m'sia region, some fro s'pore region, have to switch around while reinstalling them... >.<;

Better wait for OTA update. I flashed myself yesterday and need to dl all the apps again. My free games like Sonic CD and Super Monkey Ball gone.... Cannot find the app in store so cannot download. Microsoft very stupid can't even backup fully like iPhone.  vmad.gif

Sh!t, i better wait for OTA update. So, update via OTA apps will still be around right? I guess of course it will be. I dont want to lose my Sonic CD that i got for free.

So best to wait for the portico update next month? I downloaded the firmware... but thinking twice on flashing it...

Your opinion? I also heard some people mention that maxis ones with portico. How to tell the diff?
*
The difference, of course, is the firmware number/version. I dont think you will notice any difference comparing 2 phones side by side with different firmwares, but if u were using the older firmware, after updating to new one, you should notice some improvements in the camera, battery life, and no reboots (i have yet to experience any random reboots using this phone for 2.5 months). The changes are not something you will notice immediately since they wree intended to fix bugs. But, 2 obvious things are, there should be a draft feature added in sms, and wifi can be always on even in sleep mode.

depends on your usage la. i got mine with normal whatsapp, browsing news, sms, 10-15 calls about 5 minutes each, the phone can last from morning until my sleep time.

these days smartphones are power hungry. its ironic that most of the people that complain/critic lumias short battery life, they themselves carry a brick of a battery pack for their own android/iphone sets.  laugh.gif

To me, 2000mAh on a duo core smartphone is actually pretty high; some quad core android phones (if u exclude those 5 inchers or bigger) also have around this capacity in terms of battery size, some actually had less like the HTC One X.

QUOTE(tsk83 @ Feb 17 2013, 11:38 PM)
Overall, feels its a lousy phone:

Cons:
- Battery life is very, very weak. Continuous usage of the phone gets me 2 hours plus of usage before it dies. I had 3 Lumia 920s, all act the same way.
- The stupid thing about the phone is that when charging, using any application will negate any charging and use up more juice than what is being charged! I face this with all so called windows 8 optimized apps.
- The phone heats itself up very, very hot with maybe a continuous usage of 10 minutes or less till I have to put it down for a while.
- I feel most of the applications (WeChat, Skype, Whatsapp) launches rather slowly, especially Microsoft's own Skype which takes a very long time to launch or even resume!

Yes, I tried everything:
- Hard resetting each of the phones
- No background apps activated
- Everything off (Wifi, NFC, Location, Bluetooth, etc)
- Only Windows 8 phone apps downloaded
- 4 Live tiles active (I removed everything else)
*
That's odd, cuz most of the stuff you mentioned didnt happen to mine. Im getting 1-2 days of usage. I played mirror's edge and sonic on the phone while charging with USB and it still charges up, but slower. On USB, 20%-100% takes me 3.5hrs+. AC power less than 2 hrs. I heard whatsapp and skype drains a lot of battery though, it's a problem with the app itself and for my case im not using those 2 apps, although i installed them.

Its impossible getting 1-2 days of usage unless you do not ever do anything on your phone.

I had 3 different separate Lumia 920s and I can attest to it that they do not last so long.

I uninstalled everything and just put on Whatsapp and it drains the battery like crazy. Microsoft's own Skype drains the battery like crazy on its own as well. Same goes to WeChat or any social application.

Social Applications -

I tested it again:
- Continuous usage of Whatsapp alone lasts me < 3 hours
- Continuous usage of WeChat alone lasts me < 2 hours
- Continuous usage of Skype alone lasts me < 3 hours

The stupid thing is that all these are supposed to be normal applications for a Smartphone yet the phone, well, can't use them well.

Playing Guns 4 Hire, Dredd vs Zombies or even Robotek and your drains like water. This is without any applications active.

I don't use the usb charger as it will charge very slowly. I use the normal AC powered charger.
*
For me:

8am full charge. 9pm - 25% left.

4 hours music at volume 23/30 over my big full ear Sennheiser headphones (34ohm impedance); took 10 photos; wifi 3 hours - only browsing web and FB, no video stream; 2 calls; 20 sms. Background tasks quite a few - low powered ones, like photo album is not closed, Office left open. etc. Note that I dont use whatsapp and skype.

And, regarding games, i play Sonic CD for half an hour, battery drop only 8-9%, but if i play high graphic XBox games like crimson dragon and mirror's edge, for half an hour battery can drop double - 16%. Depends on the graphics i think.

It will be like a C4, your house will be gone.

LOL. Better to follow the recommended power input and voltage, use authorised or compatible chargers.

I notice this sometimes ...when I plug my headphones into the 920 jack and play music ...the sound is played externally rather than using my headphones...but when I remove the headphones and put it back again then no problems ....anyone faced a similar issue? It's a once in awhile thing ...I don't usually listen to music on my phone ...
*
Yup, it did happen to me like twice before, probably it couldnt detect a device is plugged in, or a driver issue.

QUOTE(azraeil @ Feb 19 2013, 12:53 PM)
I had 2 battery status apps installed. One was from Tomas which worked nicely before the latest updates. After the latest updates, the battery drain is significant and I have identified it as coming from Battery Status and the option to collect data for the statistics. Once I disabled that function, the battery drain is back to normal. But obviously this basically made the graphing capability useless because the app is not collecting any data. As the adage goes, don't fix something that is not broken.

Due to this problem, I installed Battery (another app) but I believe it was polling the battery status every minutes (as I enabled it to run in the background). Last nigh I fully charge the phone by 10:30PM and disconnected it from the charger. At 6AM this morning, I had 18% left. This has never happened before so off to the bin with the Battery app.

I wish Microsoft can just do the battery percentage thing like iOS ... is that so hard to do? I know you want to be different, but trying to be different for different sake is plain stupid.
*
That's new to me. Im using something called Battery Status, it updates every 30 minutes ( i think...) or everytime your open the app, instead of live monitoring every minute. Some may not like it but i believe it will not drain much energy. My phone battery life under moderate usage has been stellar.
