Confused between SL, ION, Acro S, and S. Anyway, why is Xperia S priced much higher than its cousins in the official SONY website, like 1799 S vs 1599 ION, when ION is upgraded S..?

I am thinking of getting this phone anyway, or if you have better recommendations for 1.1-1.2k budget, let me know tongue.gif
*
Remove S and SL from your list...Get AcroS...Water resistant and dust proof....

RM200 rebate from an overpriced ION from official shops, you still pay more than what you get from those dealers in LYN. Plus, you need to subscribe to data plan.

So, Acro S only impresses me with the dock, and waterproof (but I still see review that it ain't that "proof").'
Again between Acro S and ION.. Hmm. SGSII is getting expensive and outta budget.
*
Get Ion...Some said Ion got a better screen than AcroS....Reliability? Ion still at its best.... SGSII soo sux bro doh.gif

Alright! Any disadvantage of this phone that I should be aware of before deciding? tongue.gif
I was from SG SL i9003. Thought it was doing well though hahahaha.
*
Disadvantage? Hard to say, from my perspective...Nothing...All just fine..You can read all tips at first page...

Its just that this phone lacks of custom rom from the Dev, this is if you wanna flash a custom rom...Like me laugh.gif

OUCH! Big pain that I can't flash. Anyway I bricked my old phone because of flashing LOL. I like flashing, like seriously. Because stock ROMs are rubbish  shakehead.gif
*
Until now i cant find any suitable custom Roms for my IONs...Just that ive unlocked bootloader and rooted...

Then i just flashed with Cyber-Shot and JellyBean Tab'n'Grid function...Then some performance tweaks...

Maybe we'll wait for another 2-3month for a nice Rom from the Dev

Anyway it's still OK to wait for dev. Don't wanna brick my new phone just like that.
Uh ya, in Malaysia our variant is just HSPA+ right and not LTE?
*
Yup, our version is HSPA+....For LTE better grab TX/T or later on Z/ZL

Doesn't matter yet. Malaysia 4G has yet to improve until a LTE device is in need.
Plus, no money to subscribe to such high end data plans or what..

Hahahaha!
*
True...HSPA+ speed already at its best...For better speed, unifi at home only sudahh...

So when you'll grab this Ion ?

Ion battery is actually pretty sufficient for average daily usage. Sms, calls, social media, camera. It actually can last for 10-12 hours depends on usage.

I updated my ion to the latest on 3.7 2 weeks back and i was impressed by the improved performance but not with the battery life compared to the 2.8

So i flash back to 2.8 and flash the Cyber shot mod in my ion and my battery still maintain longer than the 3.7 currently.

Im still waiting Sony to come up with battery fix and even better performances like faster loading, louder volume if possible, more responsive touch button, perhaps more or better features on the Walkman or Camera at least?
*
This is who we called enthusiasts. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

I have same thought as you, wanna flash back my rom to .2.68 but im thinking other than battery life decreasing in .3.7, i still think there's lot more improvement in terms of performance in .3.7 firmware...

So i might stick with this first...Wait for next update from sony nod.gif

Bro other than Cyber-Shot, what else did you try? JB Grid?

actually T/TX do not have LTE as well.  ZL have LTE but do not have the band (band 7) in m'sia
V and Z have LTE supported in m'sia.
*
Ohh my bad...Im currently waiting for the latest XTXperience 8 to be fully usable...Then i'll flash it into my Ion...

Bad news, im going...Away for few month...My Ion will not get any update sad.gif

I haven get to explore mod besides Cyber shot and Walkman now. Im nt using any custom ROM tho cuz im happy with the Go laucher so far.

Now i just hope Sony will improve on battery life and Wifi signal actually. Thats one of the main concern and hopefully boost further improvements on features softwares.
*
True, WiFi signals and Battery life a bit sux...But still better than my previously owned smartphone....

Same to me lah bro, Cyber-Shot and Walkman...Nice mod btw

Yup. The fella who created the mod should really work for Sony cuz its exactly what a Sony smartphone should have been. To fully show its power and performance on entertainment.
*
True...The camera improvements amaze me, also the Walkman...Good one...Sound more clearer but not big difference lah...At least it can satisfy us better than stock

i also have same problem. before this i use HTC desire s. desire s also have same problem. compared to ion vs desire s in battery issue both only last from morning until 6-7pm for me.
now i charge my phone whenever possible. i have charger in car, home and office.
*
We cant expect more longer battery lifespan in smartphone nowadays, bigger processor plus heavier o/s...

Lets just hope an update fix from sony...And anybody here noticed that there are new firmware update from sony?

I just received a notification about the update but ignore it due to busy customizing my rom... brows.gif

Customization that i made is

- [MOD][S][ION] Xperia T Tab 'n' Grid SystemUI v3 | 20 Toggles
- Sony Xperia V Cyber-Shot With HDR Experience v5.1.1
- Audio AC!D Enhancement ( Bad compatibality, removed )
- Sony Xperia V Walkman

Sony informed that after i unlocked my bootloader, it is impossible for me to get a firmware update, but then the update notification just popped out in my phone....dayummmnn

Got latest update? I checked from software update section but its oredi up to date...i know bigger screen, faster speed will increase the battery usage, but cant just sony engineers realize tat issue n add bigger capacity of battery?lol....short battery reli make the phone feel so inconvenient, say, charge the phone anytime when needed whenever u r charging it in ur car or using a power bank, but doing so wont make the battery life span become shorter? Since full cycle charging is not applied.
*
Cant win with this...Add bigger battery capacity surely the phone itself will increase in size, then user will lost
interests with sony comparing to other android smartphone out there...I think this phone battery is the best comparing to other, because what? Its just can give me enough juice from morning until the end of the day...

Its just that the last firmware from sony decrease the battery lifespan for almost 30%, so just wait for update from sony....I assure you this bugs will be fix in next update as its not hardware problem

Ya,mayb i m a heavy usage user....lets jes wait for the coming release to fix this bug.btw, one more thing i realise,  when we download something n would like to check the status by pulling down the notification bar rite, i notice that the downloading bar status will display unevenly, like it suppose to locate at the first item, but suddenly it jump into last row among all the notifications, n then suddenly jump back to first row....the whole situation will make that particular screen like flashing up n down inevidently until the item download is complete....why this? Another bug?
*
Thats happen because it follows the latest notification update....There's no problem with that...

So anybody here tried custom mod on your device? Seems no one interested...Its fun actually nod.gif

do u need to register your phone online for that warranty?
*
None, for Original Set (Thorus/Midland), just carry along your warranty card...
For claiming purposes, just give them your warranty card...

For AP set im not sure, but i think its the receipt
