The reason why sae is so famous because they eat BBA. they are peaceful even when they have grown up. which is the opposite to other species where they become aggrasive when become adult even to their own kind.

from my experience, once sae has tasted a shrimp,    they will take shrimp as their rightful food. maybe my sae was very hungry since i dont feed them regularly.

You are most welcome sir. smile.gif

i got 8 of them inside my tank with Ph6.6 for 2weeks+. All doing very good and my tank is very clean now. SOme people dont like them because they create more poo rather than cleaning the tank biggrin.gif

The horned nerite snails already a month inside my tank

Anyone can tell me where to find this snail? really bad case of BBA..want to buy 2 dozens of this snail and dump inside my tank

How big is your tank? Get rid of bba i suggest SAE and Yamato, I believe snail only will clean them when there is nothing else for them to eat like my tank. My tank is super clean now and BBA is getting lesser. I have 2 SAE, 8 nerite and 4 horned nerite snails, they doing really well inside my shrimp tank and poo a lot too sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Do not over load the snails as they poo too much and pollute your water unless you do frequet WC. I do WC once every 3-4days

my tank is a small 1.5feet 5 gallon tank. Not planted but got 2 anubia plants...currently got 1 golden algae eater but that guy don't eat BBA. Got another DBKL fish (sorry don't know its name). Just afraid SAE and Yamato don't eat BBA because except BBA my tank is quite clean and free from other algae...I do weekly WC..

so that's why thought of getting nerite to do job since so many say good thing about nerite

thoseeyes : why not spot dosing with excel and then wait for the SAE to eat the soften bba? i read forum that they are doing it that way.

i believe you can get a syringe disposable type from pharmacy and then squirt the excel close to the bba. this has to be done with the filters off (no water movement). u can turn on after a few minutes. do this a few days and then u should get the bba start to turn white and mushy. this will then be the tidbits for the clean up crew.
*
wa...if really need to squirt excel on all bba a lot of work since there is just to many of them...might as well pour 2 cups excel inside the water...but then it might kill the fishes....unless I take out the fishes la but simply no place to put them...and lazy hehe....so thought can just delegate the job to crews..

new project for u then : eradicate  the bba on specific areas first or those that you can see.

on a more root level, have u found the reason for the bba coming into ur tank? usually bba is due to inconsistent co2 levels as the main reason. and they dun grow overnight.... means u no see ur tank everyday? hehehe
*
the reason? really no idea. Inconsistent Co2? I don't have Co2 supply to my tank as not really a planted tank. So the only reason I can think is my fishes breathes irregularly? haha.....and I do see my tank everyday

im using our typical mineral water bottle smile.gif

some people use a handheld drill, that'll be difficult.
i just took a spare allen key, heat it with fire and push through the cap. pretty easy when i do it that way compared to a handheld drill.
can basically use anything that will not melt upon heating with the diameter/circumference about the same as your pipe, but a bit smaller.

wow...u sound like mcguyver...oops..should be mcgirlver!! tongue.gif
