QUOTE(varialmctwist @ Mar 6 2013, 09:58 PM) so how long it takes for an aquarium to fully cycle...i dun have any test kits...poor edi..dun have extra money to buy...wakakka...any cheap solutions? some said put a fish or two...tapi kinda kejam to put them incase there are still ammonia...haha....and then how many times we have to water change? every 3 days? every 6 days? can i use ordinary pipe? wudnt it kill the beneficial bacteria? Hi, put some hardy fishes like danio, and add live stock slowly. for a new nutrient enriched soil i'll just do WC 50-80% three times a week for a month. then wc 50% 2 times a week for the 2nd month and 50% weekly for the third month. i just use treated pipe water. usually it will takes about a month.

QUOTE(kimimaro_kun @ Mar 6 2013, 08:52 PM) yes, you can use the pc heatsink. but you still need to make a modification. as referencebut for that 1, can only go as low as 24*c and only applicable for tank less than 2ft IINM. Hi mr kimi. IMO abt the TEC it is suitable for a feet tank and below. About the cooling capability it depends on the room temperature.

Hi there. Regarding the watt/liter rule, it is just a general guideline. it is best be used with t8 bulb. but to have a really accurate reading, we should measure the PAR value in micromoles using PAR meters.

Hi Mr Shahrul09, I agree with mr bartbarb. 24 x 4 is very strong for a 2 ft tank.

QUOTE(shahrul09 @ Mar 15 2013, 09:06 PM) oh ok..gonna trim a little bit n chnge da light(40w ok rite..i hv tis china made light SUNSUN Lighting Unit : HDD-600) ..gonna try tis later..thanks will da 40 wat light affect my riccia? hi. more light = faster growth = more co2 + more nutrients and vice versa. which means u can maintain ur lights but scale up your co2 on par with your lights to a point your fauna cant stand and use high doses of nutrients or you can try to reduce your current bulb to 2 or 3 bulbs or u can raise your light fixture with 4 bulbs at least 15 to 20 in from your substrate. lower lights will make your riccis grow slower but beware reducing lights will make ur plants in stablizing mode for a while before rebound back to normal growth. regarding current flow yes it will helps your plants to use the co2 efficiently. it is in this way they can consume the co2.. many thanks.

QUOTE(wKkaY @ Mar 16 2013, 03:32 PM) Hi guys, I'm looking for some easy plants to plant in my turtle tank, to serve as food and decorative purposes. Other than large rocks, I don't plan to get any gravel/soil/sand substrate. Any recommendations? I've heard of duckweed so far, where can I get this? Hi. You can find duckweed at nursery. if they have kiambang probably u you can find duckweed.

SAE has 2 barbels/FF has 2 pairs of barbels SAE has a black serrated line going all the way through tail/ FF does not. FF's black line is straight and not serrated. SAE will rest on their fins/FF will rest on the belly SAE will school when young/ FF tend to be solitary SAE will get aggressive with its own species/ FF will get aggressive with everything. SAE will eat all sorts of algae and any commercial food/ FF will eat mostly commercial food. hi, nice info.

QUOTE(jiejian @ Mar 21 2013, 06:40 PM) i guess its good instead of bad. low KH and GH means your water is soft and pure. according to Frank Wazeter whom use RO water, its actually beneficial for most plants. yes u are right mr jiejian. plants can adapt to many gh n kh.

QUOTE(CreativePhoto @ Mar 21 2013, 06:44 PM) i know that, but if KH too low, once the CO2 start kick in, the PH will drop like crazy..... 1 PH drop mean 10X more acid.... sounds imba.. livestock wont mind about the ph swing. but they wont stand kh swing. plants they will be fine.

QUOTE(bdrc @ Mar 22 2013, 12:36 PM) Hi folks, anyone know what is happening to the leaves of my plants? The black spots that looks like algae: http://imgur.com/8bnqeUQ&uTZvJBN&2fgqdgCl&XDJleeQ#1There are yellowish dots and little holes on the leaves: http://imgur.com/8bnqeUQ&uTZvJBN&2fgqdgCl&XDJleeQ#2Hi sir, The spots look like GSA - Green Spot Algae - due to not enough phosphate. Yellowish dots and holes due to low CO2 or not enough fertilizer. May i know your tank volume, soil, lights, fertilizer regime and using CO2 or non co2? Thanks.
