Bought a TP-32 and COD with the seller yesterday. Really a nice seller, made his effort to meet me for COD around bukit jalil area, patience with me since I don't know the way around that area. Recommended seller.
On to the product itself, I actually wanted th TP-30 rather than TP-32. Them being the same internal, it made much sense to get the cheaper TP-30. However, I wanted it with a 6.35mm headphone jack and TP-30 came with the 3.5mm headphone jack. So I got the TP-32 instead since my sennheiser HD-650 can plug it to it directly without any adpaters.
As source i connect the USB from my PC to the digital input of TP-32 to utilize the onboard DAC. Hooked up my cans and the results was disappointing. Not fault of the amp really, since it's spec of 15w for 4ohm output, and down to 10w for 8 ohm output is really not sufficient to my high impedance headphones. I have to crank up the volume to max 99 to be able to hear stuff normally. This thing cannot even make my headphone to be loud. I have the tube amp little dot II+ which serve as a way better headphone amp and for you guys who want this amp for headphones, i recommend little dot.
Next i hooked it up with my vintage kenwood book shelf speakers rated at 6 ohm. This time i get better volume, what i achieve with 99 on headphone earlier I can achieve it at 78 volume setting for the speakers. Granted though, my earlier amp that kaput can power these speakers more but then again my previous amp has a rating of 45w output per channel.
End of the day, i am happy with this purchase, cause i set out to find a cheap amp to power up my bookshelf. When my amp died, i surveyed the market and almost plonked in RM1k+ for a marantz integrated amp (PM-6004/6005). Then reality of rising living cost set me straight and i found out bout this seller and this amp. Got it, and though it cannot match up with my equipment well (it's not supposed to anyway), it did serve my purpose of getting a cheap amp that can power up my existing bookshelf (at least my speaker can produce sound now and I do not have to rely on my sennheiser with tube amp 24/7) and has the option of headphone jack. I know a much better option will be to get the TP-60 to power up my speakers but that unit does not have a headphone jack and it cost double. For now i'll just make do with this cheap amp to satisfy my current requirement until i got extra load of cash to splash around.
