QUOTE(gark @ Dec 12 2013, 05:56 PM) haha, I'm not trying to look for fast money over here but rather, want to learn as much as possible. Saw some of my friends get that tensed because of stocks and forex. Jeez, I don't want to be them. So, any place for me to learn or you want to give me personal tutorial? |

QUOTE(gark @ Dec 12 2013, 07:16 PM) how to tunjuk ajar.....? You follow the discussion on this thread, do some paper trading (ie simulated trading - no money involved) until you confident enough to trade for real, then go for it. No fast and easy way.. LOL QUOTE(felixmask @ Dec 12 2013, 08:21 PM) sadly, I'm way too far from midvalley. But, if you guys are going to organize one, do let me know too. |

There are no short cuts. Best way to learn is to paper trade. And do paper trading for at least 3 years. That's your tuition. DO not listen to idiotic people who says is ok to pay tuition fees when by losing money in the stock market. Losing is never ok. And one thing they will never say to you is that IF you are not careful, you could hit by a massive tuition fees which could wipe you out. Yup. It's silly to pay tuition fees in the market. Learn really well before you make your first ever trade. [/quote] Thanks boss. Have been keeping an eye on this thread and you always here giving advice. When you mean paper trading, which means I trade stocks on paper myself right? Ya, it's never ok. I want to know the whole thing behind all of it. There's market, there's always chance. I don't mind losing the so called 'best chance'. The market Is so massive and I keep reading papers, annual reports, research but still feel insufficient. How to improve my financial literacy? Do you recommend workshop? I want to learn more. |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Feb 16 2014, 09:51 PM) Paper trading = simulated trading or put it bluntly, fake/imaginary trading. Yes, I'm doing that. Track down all your buy/sell decisions. Record everything down. Record why you buy and sell each share. Record everything. Chart your success/failure. Keep at it. Study carefull your performance. Learn all about yourself. Don't trade till you learn about yourself. To improve your financial literacy? Look for gark. He's good. Really good. Have been tracking down the few that I'm noticing and doing it by myself. When you said learn about myself, do you mean the reasons why do I want to trade or what? I've been asking around my friends and family. Seems like everyone is not that keen on trading on stocks because of what they heard and experienced. In my pov, they are losing money simply because they do not know what are they doing and they are kinda like, gambling. I'm very clear that I'm not that type of short-term investor, rather I hope that I can at least expand my portfolio through stock trading, and to do that, I will need to educate myself because I know that financial literacy is the thing I lack of. That is why I keep buying books, downloading annual reports, reading websites, checking the background of key persons in companies. Yet, I feel so little in front of those giants. Things are so complicated for me. Yeah, I simply need more time and be more persistent. |

QUOTE(gark @ Feb 17 2014, 10:03 AM) Time has proven again and again.. merely knowing the financial literacy does not guarantee big winners. I love to buy books, so yeah, buying them won't be a problem! Valuing stocks is more art than science, sometimes your gut feeling will give the best indication. Books to read... for beginner level you can consider... Little book on value investing by Christopher H Brown., later then you can progress to other little book series. Each book is less than 80 pages and cheap enough to buy. Or you can just sit in borders and finish each book within 2 hours. at later stages.... you may consider.. One up on wall street The intelligent investor The essays of Warren Buffett Common stocks uncommon profit Interpretation of financial statements Gut feeling? really? hahahhaha |

QUOTE(gark @ Feb 17 2014, 07:13 PM) Havent actually read local writer's book... but cold eye's style is more or less like graham..a pure value strategy... you can find more about this in the book 'the intelligent investor'. yes, he does mention that the real value of companies that will be reflected on the stock price. I've been reading things regarding technical analysis too. And hey, I know nothing about charts at all. Hence, a long way to go on educate myself. You suggested a lot of books! Will check them out one by one! Thanks boss. This post has been edited by billy_overheat: Feb 17 2014, 08:08 PM |
