QUOTE(yhtan @ Jan 8 2013, 10:48 AM) big taukeh spotted » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Yea, we are all different. Me is a still basically a trader. How about a 7 early 8 early rant from me? Not to say that passive income is unimportant but I think the way people invest just for dividends is badly abused here. Investing for dividends is not a bad concept but in the stock market, investors should never forget that stock itself is not a constant. The stock can move up or down in price. Meaning to say that despite a stock giving out 'good' dividends can still go down in price. One can actually 'lose' money despite collecting their dividends. Best real example, of course is no other than Panamy. Remember those SCARY cheer leading calls to buy/invest Panamy for its SPECIAL dividends last year? IIRM Panamy was around 22 or 23 then. Panamy only paid 1.20 in dividends for calender year 2012. Panamy now trades at how much? How much dividends did Panamy gave out in calender year 2011? Why so much less? Did anyone here at Lowyat mention this issue or is the company paying less dividends acceptable? Look in the Panamy thread. I remeber seeing one posting declaring "Dividends FTW! " Does the poster know that Panamy gave out much less dividends last year? |

It's been awhile, V2 already!!!!
Although it's 1 week late, but I still wanna wish Happy new year to all traders year. may this year be a very prosperous year for all of us! new year gift: SENDAI ![]() Weekly chart of Eversendai. Notice the divergence between the price and the stochastic. Personally, I like to use this method as I find it pretty reliable, at least after I run some back test, and from my own experience using the method. Nonetheless, this is not a buy call, just to share my opinion. Cheers |

ciahcra: Happy New Year to you too!
And as usual, many thanks for your contribution. I opinion that fundamental understanding is needed for a stock like Sendai. Stock had performed like *** since its debut and its earnings performance has been lackluster too. I think the problem lies in the fact that not many understand what this company do or what this company is all about. I am no exception. I always regarded this as a steel stock but my friend corrected me and said that this should be a construction stock but then recently I read that Eversendai is venturing into Oil and Gas. Very confusing. |

Very confusing. I think the lacklustre in the share performance ever since the listing is because the construction sector in general were not doing well. Talk about bad timing But most IBs said construction will pickup in 2013, and I figure this is the counter that have not move up yet, so might be worth to look at and study the fundamental of this company. venturing into O&G? based on their expertise i.e. construction, could they be building rigs? or maybe processing plant? I don't know....haha |

Sifus please advice on fundamentals. Want to make some money before CNY Listed not too long ago. The chart looks like it is going sideways only and a sideways chart could go sideways for a long time. And sometimes despite the 'lesser' risk it offers, holding on a stock going sideways can be really frustrating because one is like waiting forever and ever for the action to begin and a lesser patience stock player could sellout in frustration from all the waiting. From a fundamental point of view, the sideways movement makes sense since it's a 'new' stock and the current price does not offer any incentive (based on fundamentals) for one to purchase cos there isn't much earnings data for anyone to make an intelligent guess if this stock would be a good investment or an lemon. However, it's a 'cheap' penny stock and 'many' would just collect the stock based on this 'cheap' factor alone. |

Let's see what happens at 4:30pm then. Don't think can rely on T.A. on this huh? |

QUOTE(Eugene91 @ Jan 16 2013, 03:54 PM) I just thought of buying at RM0.90.. Ah Lam is trending very strongly on the back of positive set of news.Let's see what happens at 4:30pm then. Don't think can rely on T.A. on this huh? 1.10 is definitely reachable but question is 'when'. However, I suggest you to consider Chef Long's advice. Buying now at 0.90 it's gonna have its risks. It's not an ideal entry point from a trader's perspective. One question for you to consider. If you had gone in at 0.90, what's your cut-loss point (if bad luck happens and this trade turns sour) ? |

I don't have any at the moment because of uncertainty of GE, and now with the shit that happening in Sabah, i rather be on safe side, and keep my cash.
Fund managers normally are not allowed to be reckless during period of uncertainty. So I'm afraid the push up of KLCI this past few days are created by them to dump their holding.. My 2 cents only |

Strong support could be seen at 0.36-0.37 Anyone care to highlight the fundamental of this counter? If I'm not mistaken, they are not paying interim dividend for the first time in 5 years, which could mean their cash pile is increasing, and create speculation that they might be taken private, or will use the cash for future investment. |

Some views from me. Yes, they are not paying any interim dividend. I bet this had pissed many off and would explain the poor share performance the past 2 months. Yes, cash pile increased but one should take into consideration that total borrowings is also huge. The private issue. Ytl Cement was taken private via share swap and speculation is if YTL would taken YTLP private, it would be via a share swap also. IINM YTL Cement's share swap offer wasn't generous and I doubt if YTLP is taken private, YTL would be generous. Me? I would give this a pass. |

Business & Markets 2013 Written by Lee Wen Ai of theedgemalaysia.com Thursday, 07 March 2013 16:25 KUALA LUMPUR (March 7): The board of directors of Petronas has proposed a tax-exempt final dividend RM27 billion in respect of the financial year ended 31 Dec 2012 for its only shareholder -- the Federal Government. QUOTE(Boon3 @ Mar 7 2013, 04:34 PM) thank you for highlighting....I'm gonna closely monitor this one now not that I fancy YTL or anything, But I detect same pattern in this counter as in Tenaga in 2011, and MISC last year..... share price everyday down, these two companies making losses every quarter, people cursing here and there but the downward momentum were getting slower, there was divergence btw price action and indicator same story with YTL now lor....the fundamental did not support the counter, you, yhtan, even me also kinda hate it at the moment but price action might tell different story maybe 3rd time charm, or maybe a new lesson for me, who knows? of course, there are failed cases also, MAS is a perfect example, and I lost money there. But it's a money well spent for the lesson that I got. MAS never broke it's weekly down trendline. So those triangle/wedge pattern, they are biased towards their function as a continuation pattern, not reversal. This post has been edited by ciahcra: Mar 7 2013, 05:35 PM |

Larry Low: I recall Mark Mobious fund buying this stock a couple years ago. I think that was in 2010 and buying range was about 1.20 or so. I remember cos I followed the buying. I have sold long ago.
Anyway, KSL should be viewed as another of the current hot Iskandar plays with KSL having several projects and land bank in Iskandar. Best of luck in your trade. |

Hot Stock Scomi rises 6.1% on Petronas Carigali contract
Business & Markets 2013 Written by Charlotte Chong of the edgedaily.com Friday, 08 March 2013 10:15 A + / A - / Reset KUALA LUMPUR (March 8): SCOMI GROUP BHD [] emerged as the most actively traded stock at mid-morning on Friday after the company secured a contract worth RM2.1 billion from Petronas Carigali. At 9:46 am, Scomi was traded at 35 sen, up 6.1% after rising to as high as 36.5 sen with some 15.4 million shares done. Scomi told Bursa Malaysia yesterday that the contract award is expected to contribute positively towards the earnings and net assets per share of the company for the five financial years ending March 31, 2013 to 2018. The contract is to supply drilling fluids, barite materials, equipment and services for a five-year period beginning March 1, 2013. The group hopes to increase its existing order book of over RM2 billion in the oilfield service segment by participating in tenders worth in excess of US$1 billion internationally. Petronas Carigali had picked Scomi to get the lion’s share of the five-year contract under the RM8 billion to RM10 billion Pan Malaysia mega tender. In 2006, Scomi received a much smaller five-year drilling fluids contract worth US$500 million (RM1.55 billion) from Petronas. Scomi's revenue stood at RM1.59 billion and a net profit of RM18 million for its 2012 financial year ended Dec 31. The group had reported a net loss of RM232.33 million in the 2011 financial year. |

i am new in stock investment. i am really amazed with you all in predicting and selecting the stocks. what even amazed me is the conclusion and intepretation you all made from the chart. as a beginner, mind to tell me where should i start and where should i read to gain the fundamental knowledge when coming to stock selection and maybe timing to buy, hold or sell? please forgive me for such stupid questions. thanks again. |

I don't know My strategy is to see whether the price can go up back above 2450, and maintain in the channel. if not, I'll consider shorting If can climb back up, I'll consider long at 2453, with CL at 2444, and TP at 2470, which gives me a RRR of 2:1, an acceptable number for me No tv at office, what did ajib gave this time? QUOTE(bios @ Mar 11 2013, 12:56 PM) dear all Hi, there are no such thing as stupid questions when one is in the pursuit of knowledge. i am new in stock investment. i am really amazed with you all in predicting and selecting the stocks. what even amazed me is the conclusion and intepretation you all made from the chart. as a beginner, mind to tell me where should i start and where should i read to gain the fundamental knowledge when coming to stock selection and maybe timing to buy, hold or sell? please forgive me for such stupid questions. thanks again. Personally, when it comes to stock selection, I'll use fundamental analysis for my stock picking. Fundamental analysis including reading annual reports and their financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow etc...), learning how to interpret the info from annual reports. For example, you should learn how to interpret financial ratios (Current ratio, ROE/ROA, Debt ratio, P/E, Dividend yield etc....). Different ratios have different use. Current ratio for example to measure the liquidity of the company, ROE/ROA use to measure profitability, while Debt ratio is used to measure....well debt. P/E and Dividend yields for example are known as investment valuation ratios. Investors normally use the ratios in this category for their stock picking. For those who want to dig further about the company, then they may use other ratios mentioned above, which can be obtained from the company's annual report You can dig around the forum, or google to learn about these ratios. As for timing, that's where the TA came in. Charts gives you a visual of the price action. Without charts, it's very hard to see what are the reactions of investors to that particular stock. TA gives you an idea where you can consider buying, selling, or just don't do anything and stay out from the counter. My two favourite websites to learn the very basics of TA are: Babypips Chart school Another important things to learn, especially if you're considering trading as opposed to buy and hold, is risk and money management. For me these are the most important thing in my trading business, because I have a very limited capital, hence I need to manage it wisely to minimize losses. One important thing to remember: There is no holy grail in investing/trading. Market movement is random, and it will do whatever it wants, and it doesn't give a damn what people thinking the market should be. If you're student, I suggest you join investment challenge organize by your uni, or by stockbroker to gain more exposure in stock market, learn the mechanics etc. One of the famous one is OSK Investment Challenge (I was one of the winner back then Good luck. p/s: I focus more on FCPO now, because I'm too lazy to go through over 1000 stocks to select which one to go in I already have few in my list, but to wait for opportunity to buy, it might take months/years before the opportunity comes knocking on my door. So for recurring income, I choose FCPO, because I can only focus on the timing, and risk/money management. I still review the stocks in my list once in awhile though This post has been edited by ciahcra: Mar 11 2013, 02:07 PM |

I still review the stocks in my list once in awhile though appreciate it very much |

From May 2012 to Sept 2012, nothing happened, so I gave up, didn't watch this counter anymore until it broke 75 cents Recently. the Iskandar theme had been reignited and we saw strong movement in stocks like UEM Land and Tebrau. Focus was then focused on companies who own land bank in that region. These companies either own land bank or purchased land in that region and have yet to develop or revalue their assets. We saw good movements in stocks like KSL and even giant stock like Genting Plantation posted solid gains because report came out they own lots of land in/near that region. I see this has sort of play has caught on. Play is shifting towards plays on stocks which has properties (or land bank) that are deemed under valued because the assets has not been revalued. Example? Most leng chai stock recently is Kseng. Explosive movement which I believe is contributed by the fact this company long time no revalue its assets and of course Dali's posting http://malaysiafinance.blogspot.com/2013/0...ng-to-boil.html helped stirred some interest. Moving along same theme, ie under valued asset, should be Incken also. Net asset is above 1.77 and if its properties are valued to current valuation, this stock looks deeply under value. Reason to buy looks 'ok' for me. The other day, Incken, woke up and made a solid movement last Thursday. Stock has pulled back a little since then. The fact the stock is holding ok at the 1.00 region looks to inviting for me. It's an open door for me. And as mentioned last time, the company has been constantly buying back some stocks every day since CNY. Err.. looks like a decent bet la. Pray I am not wrong. Ya, indeed I can find the info in Bursa website but just that it's cumbersome to go through all those pdf files. RHB keeps ‘buy’ on LPI’s from going strength to strength
Business & Markets 2013 Written by Charlotte Chong of the edgedaily.com Friday, 15 March 2013 09:40 A + / A - / Reset KUALA LUMPUR (MAR 15): RHB Research Institute Shd Bhd has retained a ‘buy’ rating on LPI CAPITAL BHD [] on the back of its robust business, strong underwriting strength and attractive dividend yields. The research house has maintained a ‘buy’ rating at RM15.75 with the same target price, pegged to a 19.4 times of its financial year 2013 earnings per share. RHB said in a note Thursday, LPI was trimming its risk exposure on lumpy contracts, including its engineering insurance to mass rapid transit (MRT) project, its subsidiary Lonpac also plans to stay prominent in fire and other non-motor segments to sustain premium growth. “LPI has ceded most of its risk exposure to reinsurers, we estimated that the net risk is 0.01% lower of the total insurance exposure to MRT projects,” it said. LPI has general insurance as its core business, which is carried out by its unit Lonpac Insurance Bhd. RHB Research said: “It is worthy to note that Lonpac is now ranked second in four general insurance segments.” The group seeks to diversify its bank partnerships having now Public Bank as its main source of premium contributions from bank partnerships. Lonpac is also in the panel of insurers for United Overseas Bank, Bank of China and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Meanwhile, Lonpac expects to continue relying on its agency force to boost premiums growth, hoping to grow its agent numbers by about 15%. Moving forward, the group plans to grow its market share and continue being a dominant player in its strongest segments. |

‘Right Shoulder’ formed at 1,664.39. Sell! Business & Markets 2013 Written by Lee Cheng Hooi Friday, 15 March 2013 09:57 A + / A - / Reset European leaders are loosening the economic shackles once demanded by Germany as the recession and mounting unemployment in southern Europe shoved aside the debt crisis as the eurozone’s biggest problem. The eurozone has seen bloc-wide unemployment at 12.2% in 2013, with joblessness as high as 27% in Greece and 26.9% in Spain. Pressure remains on France, Italy and the countries tapping emergency financial aid to make their economies more productive by reducing labour costs and de-regulating professions. The European Commission, the Brussels-based enforcer of the budget rules fended off attacks from southern Europe that it has been too strict and parried warnings from northern Europe that it is becoming too lax. The Dow increased by 5.22 points on Wednesday on low volume after recording a new all-time high of 14,478.80 on March 2013. The FBM KLCI traded in a downward and volatile range of 28.52 points with decreased volumes of 770 million to 930 million shares traded. The index closed at 1,640.74 yesterday, down 5.48 points from the previous day as blue chip stocks like BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO (M) [] Bhd, HONG LEONG FINANCIAL GROUP BHD [], PETRONAS GAS BHD [], PPB GROUP BHD [] and UMW HOLDINGS BHD [] caused the index to close lower on persistent profit-taking activities. After the 1,590.67 November 2012 low, the KLCI had scaled up towards a fresh all-time high of 1,699.68 on Jan 4, 2013. The index broke its critical 1,682 support on Jan 16, 2013 and plunged further with a 40.81-point drop in late January to its recent low of 1,597.00 on Feb 7, 2013. The index’s rebound stalled at 1,664.39 (March 12, 2013) and has dropped off since that high. As such, the weaker support levels are seen at the 1,590-, 1,597- and 1,622-levels, whilst the resistance levels of 1,640, 1,664 and 1,699 will witness heavy liquidation activities on rallies. The current rebound rally from the 1,597 low (of Feb 7, 2013) could have traced out a “Right Shoulder” of a “Head and Shoulder” (H&S) pattern which bears much resemblance to that of the index’s 2008 “H&S” formation. We advocated a selling on rebound strategy for the index on March 8, 2013, especially at the 1,660.46 (62%) retracement level. The price action of the index exceeded that 1,660.46 level to 1,664.39 on March 12, 2013. Since then, the index fell off 28.52 points from that 1,664.39 high, which we now think could be the basis of the said “Right Shoulder”. For the longer term, the rise from the 801.27 low (October 2008) to the current all-time high of 1,699.68 represents an extended Elliott Wave “Flat” rebound in a ‘Pseudo-Bull’ rise. Tactically, investors will liquidate on rallies due to the index’s ample long-term bearish divergence signals. Continue to take profit on any price rallies, as the daily DMI and Stochastic are still negative. Its CCI, MACD and Oscillator are positive for now. Due to the potentially lower tone of the KLCI, we are recommending a “sell” on YTL Corp Bhd. YTL reported a fourth quarter 2012 (4Q12) revenue and profit before tax (PBT) of RM5.12 billion and RM556.1 million, a decrease of 3.9% and 8.9% respectively compared with RM5.33 billion and RM610.1 million in the previous corresponding period. Its CONSTRUCTION [] division recorded a 21.8% drop to RM57.8 million from RM73.9 million in 4Q11 due to lower recognition of percentage of work done by its foreign subsidiary, YTL Construction (S) Pte Ltd. Moving forward, the construction segment is expected to achieve satisfactory performance for the financial year ending June 30, 2013 as the construction contracts related mainly to the group’s property development and infrastructure works. Its utilities segment continues to strive for long-term sustainable growth despite the competitive environment. Maybank-IB currently does not have fundamental coverage on YTL. A check on Bloomberg consensus reveals that there are six houses that have coverage on the stock, three of which have “buy” calls, two “hold” calls and one “sell” call. YTL is currently trading at a historical price-earnings ratio of 12.1 times with an indicative dividend yield of 0.93%. YTL’s share price made an obvious surge since its daily Wave-5 high of RM1.90 on Dec 31, 2012. Since that high, YTL fell on a very firm Wave-3 move to its recent low of RM1.54, accompanied by heavier volumes traded. Its chart has moved into daily and weekly downtrends to its recent low of RM1.54. As it broke below its recent key critical supports of RM1.78 and RM1.82, look to sell YTL on any rallies to its resistance areas as the moving averages depict very firm short-to-medium term downtrends for this stock. The daily and weekly indicators (like the CCI and DMI) are firmly negative and now depict the obvious indications of YTL’s eventual decline to lower levels. We expect YTL to remain very weak towards its support levels of RM1.45, RM1.49 and RM1.54. It will attract major liquidation at the resistance levels of RM1.60, RM1.78 and RM1.90. Its downside targets are now located at RM1.25, RM1.38 and RM1.50. Lee Cheng Hooi is head of retail research at Maybank Investment Bank. ![]() ALAM ALAM: time to take profits! My action plan was: enter when the price break the short term downtrend line (blue) My cut loss is slightly lower than the previous candle before the breakout. And upon calculation of RRR, it did met my criteria of at least 2:1 Couple with BN's win which was expected to move the market positively, the odds seem to be in my favour. So I'll just take a shot! p/s: Notice the blue line that I drew. My entry always been after the breakout of the line, and rebound from the channel support. ![]() GOCEAN Another penny counter that is currently in my radar: GOCEAN - notice how the price not going any lower, but the stoch keep on going down. (possible hidden divergence) - also, possible formation of a triangle (normally associate with continuation pattern) - surge in vol during run up, and vol dries up afterward, but still significantly higher than before the run up. - vol surge suggesting interest from investors/speculator/trader/gambler in the counter, an the dried up vol suggest profit taking not that severe to push back the price down, and probably most of the people who bought during run up still holding it. something cooking behind? |

QUOTE(ciahcra @ May 14 2013, 11:34 PM) my CL is independent with entry. Thanks for your reply.my CL always at place where price violates market structure: - in uptrend, violates the uptrend i.e. making lower low (break previous low) - in sideways, violates the sideways (price breakdown the sideways) For your CLIQ-WA case, is there any reason you choose 0.24? not 0.25/0.26? - in downtrend, violates the downtrend i .e. making new high (break previous high) So i assume normally the number of lots that you will enter depending on the CL target that you're comfortable with? As for the TP, is it same as your CL when it violates the market structure too? Example your GOCEAN example, your entry would be above the upper trend line while your CL would be below the trend line then? And the TP, assuming that it is a new high, would you hold until the trend breaks ,by making lower high? Sorry not to MIA you, just to learn some other trading perspective, hope you don't mind and thanks in advance edit: added some bolded question regarding CLIQ-WA This post has been edited by hehe86: May 14 2013, 11:53 PM |

I'd mention that this is a very healthy well rounded rally ACROSS the board.
Rotation plays are clearly visible. Stock with good news flows are getting nicely rewarded. For example, when Southern Steel reported a good turnaround in earnings end last month, other steel stocks started woke up. When CSCSteel also reported a turnaround in earnings, its stock flew. Look at Hiap Teck? It woke up also. Good healthy signs this current run will last for a while. Yesterday, a group of speculative penny stocks roared. With that... I won't be surprised if we see back the same rotation amongst speculative stocks. |

QUOTE(hehe86 @ May 14 2013, 11:51 PM) Thanks for your reply. - Yeah, the number of lots will depend on how wide my CL is.....So i assume normally the number of lots that you will enter depending on the CL target that you're comfortable with? As for the TP, is it same as your CL when it violates the market structure too? Example your GOCEAN example, your entry would be above the upper trend line while your CL would be below the trend line then? And the TP, assuming that it is a new high, would you hold until the trend breaks ,by making lower high? Sorry not to MIA you, just to learn some other trading perspective, hope you don't mind and thanks in advance edit: added some bolded question regarding CLIQ-WA - My TP are usually at the first visible resistance, or if it's a breakout from it's pattern (triangle, wedge, flag etc....) would be the height of the pattern from the break out point - go to this website if you want to know how to measure TP given certain chart pattern (http://stockcharts.com/school/doku.php?id=chart_school:chart_analysis:chart_patterns) - in case of GOCEAN, based on my 30mins chart, yes my entry would be break out above the triangle, and CL below the triangle. My TP would be the first visible resistance, which in my chart, is around 0.305 - 0.31 - based on that, my Reward is about 3 cents (0.31 - 0.28) while my Risk is 1.5 cent (0.28 - 0.265), which gives me RRR of 2:1. For me that's good enough. and - I might hold the stocks eventhough it has reached the resistance, as long as I don't see any type of reversal candle / chart pattern (shooting star, dark cloud, bearish engulfing, double top etc...), couple with divergence between the price and stoch. If not sign of that, I may hold the stock a bit longer - as for CLIQ-WA, the price has been moving sideways btw 0.245 - 0.265. So my CL normally slightly lower than the support, which in this case, is slightly lower than the bottom of the range.... |

Hi Ciahra,Anyway, some charts for this week: MUHIBAH weekly chart ![]() MUHIBAH weekly MUHIBAH daily chart ![]() MUHIBAH daily Anyone wants to comment on this counter? Thanks for sharing. For this counter, the stochastics is overbought though the 'flag' or 'wedge' looked nice. By sharing this counter, can I assume that the candlesticks pattern and trendline have more importance than the readings by stochastics? Of course, overbought doesn't mean it will go down soon, but I'm quite wary of entering or opening position on overbought condition. Erm, did I asked the right questions? |

But anyway, candlesticks / chart patterns with VISIBLE Supports and Resistance (Fixed and Dynamic) always be my priority. If the price was at the place WHERE I want to take action (as determined by my VISIBLE SnR), then I'll check for another evidence (Invisible SnR like fibo....). So when you back test, the back test has to be a discovery process that helps you discover the system that works 'best' for you, ie the system that produces the best average result for you. And yes, it is very important to note that your 'best' system might not work all the time. Confusing? If it is the best, why doesn't it work all the time? That's because a system that produces good results during an uptrend/bullish phase, might not work as well during a downtrend/consoildation phase. |

This morning I entered Eastland because:
1)The short term MMA seems to be separating from the long term MMA 2)RSI and Stoch readings not overbought. Seems to be going up. 3)Chart seems to be making higher low and higher high though very slow. 4)MACD histogram seems to be turning positive soon. And most of the times, I only entered at a higher price because it's a sign of strength. Though seeing it going down after purchasing is....erm..... Any comments? For example: you want to use MA cross over (i.e. shorter period MA cross over longer period MA) You pick whatever range you want to test (maybe 14 days MA with 50 days MA for example).... Then go down 10 years back, and start to look for those cross over. each time you see one, decides whether to take the trade or not, then record it. If it's a successful trade, record it as a winning trade, and vice versa. Records also how much you win/lose each trade Let say I do 10 trades, I jotted down winning trades and losing trades, then calculate the percentage of win trades Then I jotted down the total winning amount, and find the average winning amount (in term of Ringgit) per trade and average losing amount per trade. After 10 trades, analyse your data. see whether the method you choose give you high percentage of winning or not. My predefined value is 40%. which means, if I want to use the system (set of rules that I want to use), I have to make sure the system can gives me at least 40% of winning trades see whether your winning amount per trade is high or not. Avg winning amount / Avg losing amount is your Reward to Risk Ratio (RRR). I set mine to 2:1. meaning for every Ringgit i risk, I make RM2. If the system gives me more than 40% winning rates, but RRR is less than 2:1, I'll ditch the system as well..... By making trading journal, you will know which system works in which market. Seriously, trading is exhausting..... And if I have the perfect system, I'd probably have George Soros phone number in my contact list already This post has been edited by ciahcra: May 27 2013, 11:51 AM |

QUOTE(Kcee @ May 27 2013, 11:10 AM) This morning I entered Eastland because: 1)The short term MMA seems to be separating from the long term MMA 2)RSI and Stoch readings not overbought. ![]() EASTLND daily And if it doesn't goes up, where do you plan to exit? and if the price still doesn't shoot up, how long you plan to hold on this counter? you need to define all that before you enter the trade. Unless this is an undervalue stock, and you tend to buy and hold, then timeframe doesn't really matter I guess. Anyway, for Malaysia stocks market, VOLUME is one of the most important element to me. Average daily vol for this counter is about 200k to 250k a day? how much you expect to buy? for trading purpose, you need higher vol to make it easy for you to get out. I don't know about this counter anyway, so maybe in the next 2-3 days the vol will spike.... This post has been edited by ciahcra: May 27 2013, 11:45 AM |

But when volume is peaking, I assume the smart money is getting out either. The last I profit from small cap counters are counters like KOMARK and HYTEX using this method. I 'cabut' after 10-20% profit and bought roughly like same time like this counter. When it's rather quiet. The counters continued to climb actually but I can only console my self by saying 'Don't be greedy' Oh, and because the last few weeks are times of 'crazy bulls', naturally, I don't think it's my analysis that helped me. 'The bull' did This post has been edited by Kcee: May 27 2013, 12:08 PM |

QUOTE(Kcee @ May 27 2013, 11:52 AM) Erm, my plan is the holding period of 1 week to 1 month. I don't know about this counter, so I cant really comment much, but if you said you make money using the same method, then maybe you might hit it again this time. Record down your trades, that's the only way to see whether the system you choose works or not....Yes, volume is important. I agree. But when volume is peaking, I assume the smart money is getting out either. The last I profit from penny counters are counters like KOMARK and HYTEX using this method. QUOTE(Boon3 @ May 27 2013, 11:09 AM) Back testing. My best system gives me 60% only....only 10% higher than 'gambling' No two persons trades exactly the same. What works for A, might not work for B. QUOTE(ciahcra @ May 29 2013, 09:53 AM) One of the most reliable pattern..... Ciahra, based on your posting, you do have a pre-defined pool of stocksparticularly if the pole is high vol, and the flag is low vol....plus the price rebounded at any fibo level above above 50% of the swing that formed the pole.... that you want to trade, is it? You mentioned Fundamental Analysis before, so meaning that you only trade stocks that have fundamental? Penny and small cap stocks are out of your radar or pool of stocks? I was thinking like, Technical Analysis should work on any stocks if we got the right move. Not me with the right move, of course |

WASEONG
![]() WASEONG Daily The last push up was to break thru from the 2 years down trend. with the huge vol accompanied the breakout, I believed it's a genuine breakout. Most of the o&g are now making new, record highs. But Waseong doesn't seems to move that much yet And if Elliot Wave Theory are to be believed, I think we are now at the 2nd wave, with 3 more waves to go. ![]() WASEONG Daily 1 Rebounded at fibo 50%, with bullish harami yesterday, and a bullish kicker, if the price closes above yesterday high just my 2 cents. Guys wanna ask some opinion.
During uptrend, when a stock retrace, one should look to buy with a better probability to win right? Instead of when downtrend, look for rebound to enter? Thanks in advance |

QUOTE(hehe86 @ Jun 14 2013, 09:58 PM) My strategies are:1. In uptrend, I will go Long on Dip 2. In downtrend, I will Short on Rally 3. In sideways market, I'd most probably stay away....if you still want to trade, buy at support sell at resistance. but I will only do it if the sideways movement is wide enough Since our stock market can only buy, so only 1 and 3 can be used. However, for strategy 3, I find it very difficult to implement on our stock market due to tight movement during market consolidation. So most of the time, in order to make money, only strategy 1 will be useful. more often than not, you'll lose money in strategy 3, not to mention strategy 2. The question is, how you define what the current trend is? |

I guess it is a " down" trend . maybe due to less cash available in the markets ( cash withdrawal syndrome ? ) , but kinda soft landing than hard landing because of local funds strong support. Just my view only. This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Jun 15 2013, 12:24 PM |

The question is, how you define what the current trend is? In other word, is a yes to both my questions By not using any example, to determine uptrend, i normally use MAs (price above 20/50 MA), breakout from sideways, triangles (during uptrend, descending triangle breakout) and candlesticks. Most of the time, the examples u showed, fit those criterias P.S: will visit your shop if i drop by to KL! |

Err.. I think like this hor.. When I average up, I do not want my cost of shares to go up substantially. Entry point must be treated as if you do not own any shares ay all in the stock. |

Summoning who ar? The risk in percentage of a 3k bet is the same as a 6k bet. If we set a 7% risk per trade, then it doesn't matter if we bet 3k, 7k or 10k because the risk is 7%. Sounds simple? It isn't. A 7%.. shiit... let's use 10% risk per trade la. 7% means needs to take out count math machine. A 10% risk on a 3k bet is 300. A 10% risk on a 7k bet is 700. The amount of risk increases when the amount of bet increases. Luckily there is Uncle Google la. Google this: position sizing and positing sizing strategies. Tons of resource material from people smarter than me. PS: There is no one shoe that fits all. Search and discover what fits your shoe. |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Jul 30 2013, 07:58 AM) I read from a book stating that when increase leverage, you should start with lower gearing first. Example, 1 lot 20 pips, when increase to 2 lots, aim for 10 pips first. But didn't state about the cut loss part. Though that book is forex trading. Thanks, will search around google seng QUOTE(kueyteowlou @ Jul 30 2013, 09:49 AM) Aiyo, when i'm geng like sifu chef, sure can follow instinct d ma, now still newbie |

QUOTE(hbgoh57 @ Oct 21 2013, 09:23 PM) summoning boon3 Errr...what do u mean by not being used by charts? Thanks for the blue box thingy...now i will summon u nonstop It's like this. You have tons of stocks. Tons of charts. Some traders scan their charts and based their trades on the charts. Meaning charts come first then only stock. This can make the trader complacent, I think (my opinion la). Their trades is based soley on the chart only. They trade the chart in regardless of the stock. Me? Err... if say... China stocks.. I don't like them.. They lap the sap. So no matter how nice the chart.. I consider the 'NO BET, NO EYE SEE' option. Confusing? |

In conclusion if lapsap stock(eg made in china) = dun bother no matter how beautiful the chart Use the chart to decide on the point of entry and exit but must also look at the fundamental of the stock...right? How about mother share and warrants?Look at mother's chart to decide on warrant or base it on warrant chart? |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Oct 21 2013, 09:10 PM) I have Pelikan on Friday coz rebounded at Fibo 50%, grabbed it around 0.64 (didnt get at 0.60 coz scared to enter lol ) My first TP of course last high (0.79-0.80) but with rebound at fibo 50%, normally i project price will go to 1.10 (fibo projection 138.3%). Dunno can get or not Instaco since Sept at around 0.27...dunno what TP, maybe just hold... haha Daya i don't know when to grab, see how it goes the next few days.... How about mother share and warrants?Look at mother's chart to decide on warrant or base it on warrant chart? That one is NOT the only conclusion leh... Still the rule of thumb is you trade your best way and not what and how others trade. I just gave you an example that I am a picky trader. It works for me but it might not work for you. Use the chart to decide on the point of entry and exit but must also look at the fundamental of the stock...right? --> If you are a sole chart trader and trade short, err.. 10 mins, 1 hour etc.. then sometimes fundamental of the stock can be bypassed. It really depends but I like to trade with fundamentals behind the stock. I try to avoid risky stocks, stocks with poor fundamentals, like every year lose money etc etc... How about mother share and warrants?Look at mother's chart to decide on warrant or base it on warrant chart? For me, I have to like the mother share fundamental. And then depending on the conversion rate, the expiry date, I then decide if I want to load up some warrants. |
