Whenever i plug my usb modem (UMG1831) into my tl-mr3040 the lights keep blinking and i cant access the configuration page..... i tested them individually and it work fine. I called the tp-link hotline twice where the 1st CS suggested a modem incompatibility and 2nd just duno what is it. Both have some heavy accent which makes it hard to understand their english >< The 1st cs did gave me a software to create a bin file but i cant get it done due to some factors. Before calling them i have check the latest firmware and compatible list which mine is not there. Hopefully i am asking in the right section, is this a hardware problem with the router or just modem incompatibility? edited: problem solved when i read about someone else problem in the tp-link forum, where his router only works with battery. I figure it has to be something similar so i put in my battery and it works! next i put in the ac power and it works.... finally it was own stupidity that causes all this as apparently it need at least a min of 1.0A to work and i was being stubborn to power it up with a usb port..... there goes 1hr+ of my life This post has been edited by renishi: Apr 1 2013, 07:06 PM

have u set up the password?
If yes, then use WinSCP to flash in new fw. It should solve the problem.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Using TFTP
When the router software boots up it will, in many cases, look for an image to flash. If this image is presented to it at the correct time it will upload it and then flash the router. The upload method used is TFTP and requires a program on your computer to send the file to the router. A good program is tftp2 and that is what we will use here.
Unplug the router from power as we need to be ready to send the file while the router is booting up. Run tftp.exe and fill in the required information.
Enter the router's IP Address as the Server and the router password as Password. Browse to the image you wish to flash the router with in File. Set the retry value to 20. Click on Upgrade.
Now plug the router back in to power and let it boot up. The tftp program will attempt to send the file to the router at the correct moment during boot up.
Wait for at least 5 minutes before doing anything, unless you receive an error message from tftp. If all went well the router will flash the image and reboot.
If this fails, try booting the router up in Failsafe mode as described above. Use a server address of 192.168.1.1 for this, regardless of the actual IP Address of the router. http://www.rfactory.org/OpenWRT/unbrick.htmlcan use the tftp method to flash also which is much easier This post has been edited by renishi: Apr 24 2013, 12:54 AM

I am thinking of buying another 3g modem just to test this out and since i ordered the MB prepaid plan ~ i might need a secondary modem too
