I suggest TS paste the tips/tricks for this modem from previous threads.

It'll be good to have:

1 - Support modem list.
2 - Website for firmware update.
3 - Guide for installing openwrt on this router.
*
yup, if anyone have save the list of these things in ur notepad or docs kindly share it here..easier for the others to read and find solution.. thumbup.gif

Anybody know what packages should I install or should I just install all packages listed at openwrt 3g dongle recipe site?

turn off the router , dun use it , let it cool off for abt 60mins, the longer the better ( best is overnight ) dun press any buttons at all

reuse the next day, it will be back to normal on Huntsman again.

the purpose to cool the router overnight is for the chips to erase the memory of the failed connection. happened to mine before

is it because of hot??so weird..

Aha! This sound like a bug... Wahroonga Farm? Dairyman?

U mean the RAM? Infomation resides in RAM is gone the moment u turn the machine off (after all, that's why it's called volatile momory). Even if this does happen, upon machine boot up, kernel memory test will flip every bits of the RAM 0->1 and 1->0, nothing of the previous session can survive... So, that's unnecessary.
*
dunnow whether its a bug or what..coz i try to flash back to factory fw also unsuccessful.

Be careful when flashing back from OpenWRT to original firmware. You may end up bricking your router if done improperly. Some user in this thread "kena" already. smile.gif

The following is the right way of flashing back to TP-Link's firmware (Reference):

Step 1
Download the firmware for TL-MR3420 v2 (the filename contains "boot" & the size=4063744 bytes)

Step 2
Cut the first 0x20200 (that is 131,584 = 257*512) bytes from the original firmware

On Linux or MAC, fire up the command prompt, and type:
CODE
dd if=orig.bin of=tplink.bin skip=257 bs=512

The dd utility is part of the Linux & MAC OS. For Windows, search "dd for windows", or use HexEdit.

Step 3
Flash the stripped file (size = 3932160 Bytes / 3840 KiB / 3.75 MiB) through web interface.

Quick download -> https://www.box.com/s/kps8yu3wszywuhqzy0c3
This is the firmware without bootloader, uploaded by user on OpenWRT.org (see Post #108).
I've not personally tested it. Use while you can, on your own risk... wink.gif

err.....abit confused on the step to flash to stock fw..how to to the second step?mind to share any video on how to do it? BTW im not able to use LAN cable to connect with the router...now using blackwidow..already try port in to WAN port n LAN port 1 but unable to connect on the user interface..only can connect thru wifi OPENWRT.. icon_question.gif cry.gif

Those steps are just for making your flashable firmware on your own. You can just skip that and terus go to download
https://www.box.com/s/kps8yu3wszywuhqzy0c3 the file and flash using the web interface... Easy?
*
so just dload the firmware from the link goven n flash it thru blackwidow user interface?

Yup. That's as easy as that. Have you flash? Or you better do it quick, or your router could possibly go haywire later on... See post #835, and post #839.

Flash back to original firmware first. If it's working alright then wait a few days or a week (use as normal). If it's alright then you can flash to any other firmware as you like later on.

already flash to stock firmware n now works on LAN n wifi..will try again flash to huntsman n see whether the weird thing happen again or not..

Guys, I'm using TL-MR3420 V2(stock firmware) with Huawei E398(firmware version:11.433.61.10.55).
Everyday my connection will disconnected for several times, and have to reboot my MR3420 V2 then only can get back the connection.
Everytime when my connection lost, I enter the TP-Link router setup page, under the status tab, 3G there shown disconnected.
Is there any way to fix this problem? Like always connected to internet, or auto reconnect back to internet after disconnected?
Thx in advance  notworthy.gif
*
r u connecting ur e398 directly to the router usb port or using usb cable extension before connecting to the router?
