Nice, will try it out soon.

By the way, if my sim card is pin code lock enabled, anywhere I can put the pin code, either via GUI or custom scripts? Thanks in advance!

Good question.

I guess it won't worry too many, but those swapping phone sims around and using usb modems portable, would probably need/ like it.

Dairyman likes a new challenge. tongue.gif

The last stable BlackWidow release, 2013-04-13, is now frozen.

A new ROOTer release; Huntsman is now available user posted image

See Dairymans website

Huntsman 2013-04-14

The new features are :

Addition of the DDNS Client package.

SIM Pin unlock code support for all modem protocols except those with QMI (future Huntsman release).

Support for the re-flashed E3276 that requires a different Comm port for its connection.

It's longer, lower, wider, faster than ever before. See it at your local dealer. tongue.gif

Why is it when i use this modem on BW BB 2013-04-12 the QoS becomes 8640/8640 , my question is can i set the QoS on the Router to 42000/8640 ?  If Yes, how can i do it ?

thanks

Hi,

BW 21013-04-12 was a faulty image and only briefly available. It was too large for the 4Mb flash ram.

Please move up to the latest Huntsman.

Cheers

Btw, how to use this BB with OpenVPN  or does it support OpenVPN ?

Thanks

Hi,

There is a response to this question in the Australian forum here. smile.gif

BTW, nothing will have changed in the stability or speed of connection between BlackWidow and Huntsman as the underlying software is unchanged.

The evolution is now focused on features such as:

Driver-less modem support, DDNS package addition, Entry of SIM Pin code, Update to QOS system, Mode and band selection, SMS receive and send.

And a couple of those are already done. rclxub.gif

Cheers

I am still on BW Barrier Breaker and i noticed that the "always on" feature dun work sometimes cause i can see the LED indicator of the modem fall back to slow speed color when my connection is left idle.

The Modem 'Connection Keep alive' creates a periodic (10sec interval) ping to 8.8.8.8. if selected.

user posted image

This will not be sufficient to maintain a fast connection status. It may be sufficient to prevent an idle timeout, so it may ensure a more reliable connection. This ping will consume a small amount of data if left on 27/7.

'Enabled with Restart' will restart the ROOTer if a number of ping attempts fail.

Not experiencing connection instability issues:

Canada, Portugal, Sweden South America and Australia are OK from all reports.

Make sure you enter your APN details etc via the modem tab and not the WAN tab.

The later Black Widow and Huntsman builds have introduced instability for some modems.

We are currently working back through the ROOter additions to isolate the problem(s).

Your testing has been invaluable as it identified the modem instability and the keep alive function failure which had not beenreported elsewhere. rclxms.gif

... Back with an update when there is more news.

Cheers

Dairyman has made 3 new builds with the DDNS, Time Sync and RNDIS driver removed.

All other Huntsman features are intact.

The build is completely up to date with both SVN and packages being updated this morning.

There's a brand new Luci GUI. tongue.gif

This limited test release fixes the Keep alive function

Try it and see if the stability problems are improved.

Thanks

Hi guys,

This was a limited 'test' release to determine if certain features were causing instability.

A new release for all routers will be made once testing is completed.

here's my load average running on Huntsman 04-19 with MR3420 V1, loading the page from my office via Public IP:
[attachmentid=3407421]

I've been running this version happily ever since I found the manual fix for cron. I'll have to stick with this version as I still need the DDNS package.  thumbup.gif

The cron fix is included in the limited test release linked in my earlier post.

WR703N

By all means have a play. It will suit most folk and the new GUI is nice, but no DDNS, Time Sync and RNDIS driver support. Although time sync works fine.

Certainly won't cause you any grief. smile.gif

Cheers

PS We're still looking for a potential instability problem. I can emulate a problem with my MF821 and 703n at my place. But it's not a universal fault and many don't experience what I see.

I've rolled back to BW 2013-04-13 and it's running sweetly with the MF821 in a MR3420V1.

So there's some little bug still in there somewhere or it may even be router specific?

We'll get there. smile.gif

PPS Thanks guys for your input. It's been a great help.

PPPS We don't seem to be experiencing the router load issues that have been raised. It may be router or release or modem specific? We're investigating.

Keep the reports coming ... rclxms.gif
