New Ideapad Z400@2699 and Z500@2249 available at Lenovo booth and promotions at the Tech World Expo Fair 2013 in Mid Valley Exhibition Centre from 1/2/13 to 3/2/13 according to local Lenovo facebook at:  biggrin.gif
http://www.facebook.com/LenovoMY

Quoted from Lenovo brochure:
"The new slim fit
25% slimmer and more powerful.
Thin and light, yet packed with powerful features. The Ideapad Z-series just made ultra-performance ultra-portable. Now with Windows 8. Designed for touch,, mouse and keyboard, so you can choose how you get around."

Z500 touch, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT645M + (1366x768; touch)@RM2249, 4GB, 1TB, W8; backlit, 2 years warranty
Z400 touch, i7-3632QM + Nvidia GT645M + (1366x768; touch)@RM2699, 4GB, 1TB, W8; backlit, 2 years warranty
Free backpack and 3 yrs warranty extention during promotion.

Hope to get the specs right due to poor quality of Lenovo brochure in their facebook.  tongue.gif

Z500 look quite promissing due to "good enough" gaming performance in slim designs with touch & cheaper price.    brows.gif
Battery life up to 6 hrs according to their website.  hmm.gif

Guys, I'm gonna getting this!! The best specs for gaming I've seen for a touchscreen laptop, yet.. Anyone know the GT740M comes with 1GB or 2GB?

Touch screen is just a marketing gimmick though laugh.gif
And you don't need an i7 for gaming, i5 is more than enough since gaming performance depends more on the graphic card. And the VRAM (1GB or 2GB) doesn't matter for performance...

I would suggest you getting the i5 (RM2099) version, use the remaining money to throw in an SSD brows.gif
The overall speed of your notebook will be much faster than you simply getting the i7 variant brows.gif

Then what is the use of i7 tongue.gif?
How much SSD storage can I exchange for the 1TB HDD storage?
Anyone have the pricelist? tongue.gif

the use of i7 is for professional projects usage like AutoCAD, programming code compilation which needs the power of processors. like sifu TJ said, if you intend to game only, i5 is enough. and the rest let your graphics card to do the job. most of the games now are depending on graphics card, not the processor.

about HDD exchange, max is 128GB. no pricelist provided unless you ask it directly at shops or at the garage sales section.

The largest is 128GB? Meaning that 1TB HDD = 128GB SSD?
Or I should put in both? (Can I?)

the price of 1TB HDD equals to 120GB Intel 330 SSD. the Z400 is a single hard drive bay, so its impossible to place 2. unless you want to get a desktop replacement, which is 17" screen and above. sweat.gif

however, save the money bro. SSD upgrade can be done in the future, not now. the price for SSD is yet still skyrocketed.
*
But our sifuTJ suggested to get a SSD instead of i7..
Okay, I will just get the original z400 with these spec:

Z400T, i7-3632QM + Nvidia GT740M + (1366x768, touch)@RM2799, 4GB, 1TB, W8; 2 years warranty

I prefer touch because it won't be old-fashioned so soon tongue.gif
I'm gonna use this laptop for the following few years!

Anyone had the z400touch i7 at local shop already? Is it released?
Anyone know about the con? Does it suffer from heat or less battery life problem?
