will definitely try to abuse the hinge when I get my hands on a display unit laugh.gif
But so far this is the best hinge design (on paper at least, and if it really can stand the abuse) that I've seen, better than the XPS 12 or the Sony Viao or the Lenovo Twist. And the fact that Acer feel confident to put it with a much heavier 15" screen  hmm.gif

Ehhh the funny thing is the placement of the touchpad. How to use it when the touchpad is above the keyboard laugh.gif Or are they expecting us to use mouse more often?

maybe they expect people to use the touchscreen more kua? haha  tongue.gif

Maybe the Metro UI...but for desktop, I can't imagine myself using much of the touch screen tongue.gif

I'll keep an open mind on the touchpad for now biggrin.gif
The main advantages of the touchpad placement are these, I think  hmm.gif
1. palm no longer has to rest on the palm rest area (which usually are a bit warm (personally I just find it uncomfortable).
2. the screen could be moved a lot closer to the user. No longer need to extend the arm across. Really help the utilisation of touch screen.
3. On W8 desktop mode, could push the screen back to "normal" position, and make touchpad available. I will try it out later and see if using the touchpad will make me accidentally press any button on the keyboard tongue.gif But I think sliding the hand up to use the touchpad actually is quite inutitive than cramping the hand down (always found touchpad annoying anyway, I'm a trackpoint user laugh.gif)

Will go look for it and test it out next Friday (this Friday is public holiday, not going into town to work  rclxms.gif )

I know that the MSI GE series are warm on the keyboard/touchpad surface when I demo-ed them in Lowyat Plaza before

Hi guys, sry if i post in the wrong section but i need some help here. i just bought a hp laptop from SEC electronics. it comes with a 1 year warranty but the sales guys tell me that if i join member with the sec they will give me extra warranty but i need to go back to the shop for it. so is there anyway or anyone here that can guide me to buy extra warranty from hp themselves as i prefer to deal with hp themselves for claiming warranty thank you smile.gif
*
Here's what I think:

The extra warranty is actually "shop warranty". Have you seen those extra 1-2 years warranty from SenQ or Harvey Norman before? It's the same thing, it's actually extra warranty term given by the seller. This is NOT the official warranty from the manufacturer (your laptop brand HP) as it will still be only ONE year. It's just that the extra warranty period would be "covered" by the shop, that is they would BEAR the extra charges if your laptop is in need of servicing.

does it effect the warranty if i change the ram, while still under warranty? gp70 seems interesting
*
Nah it won't, as long as you don't remove any of those "warranty void if tampered" stickers. Changing the HDD should be fine too. Processors/GPU is a no no for most laptops...
