Hi guys. Need recommendation. Old laptop spoiled so need to buy one asap.
1. Preferred Brand And Form Factor
Any but Acer , light( around 2kg so easier to carry around) , considering ultrabook-like laptop but not sure if it suits my usage
2. Budget
2000-2600
3. Usage
Normal internet surfing(but will open up to 10-15 Google Chrome tabs at one time) , gaming ( can run Dota 2 enough d) , play HD movies, will be used for long hours so have to be durable
4. Preferred laptop/screen size
13-14''

Do you guys think SSD is necessary to be one form of consideration? Any advise? Thanks smile.gif

Having an SSD would be a plus, since the notebook will run faster  laugh.gif
Can consider these:
14"
Asus [Ultrabook]S46CM-WX023V, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM2399[2kg], 4GB, W7HP
Dell [Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i5-3337U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2549[1.87kg], 4GB, W8 *no VGA port, OD
HP [Ultrabook] Envy4-1204TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD8750M@RM2399[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8

Thanks sifu. Which one do you think is better? I've heard people said that Dell and HP has better after sales service? So sifu are these 3 my best bet? Imma get one tomorrow. Gotta decide a.s.a.p.

If your max budget is RM2.6k, then I'd go for the HP, and remaining budget to be used for warranty extension to 3 years nod.gif
No point getting a Dell without warranty extension laugh.gif
ANd you are right, Asus's service is not the best at the moment... despite the pretty good specs for the price

I see. How do i go about upgrading the warranty? Do you think a SSD is needed for my usage? If budget can extend, say 200-300 what do you think? biggrin.gif

You can extend warranty at official HP resellers~
Having an SSD (even if its an mSATA one) will improve program load times, thus making the computing experience faster and snappier, worth it~
If budget increase by ~RM200-300, then go for the Inspiron 14z and extend warranty to 3 years. For Dell units you can just order online, remember to bargain for cheaper price 1st brows.gif

http://www.lelong.com.my/hp-envy-4-1204tx-...7-01-Sale-I.htm sifu why is it different than the one you mentioned? SSD is included and the graphics card and processor is slightly better. Should I get this from the seller? By the way is it possible to install SSD into the laptop in the future?

GPU is the same. CPU is practically the same, just clock differently.
Yes, there is mSATA SSD. Please note it's factory set for caching only.
Yes, it is possible for you to swap out the HDD and replace it with SSD in the future. It usually won't void the warranty smile.gif

What does it mean by factory set for caching only? So would you advise me to get this? And extend the warranty for 3 uears?

The mSATA SSD, you will not see it in file explorer for your to save files or install apps. It is set in BIOS for caching so that the files / apps that you frequently run will launch faster (but it is a hit / miss affair. Better than nothing though smile.gif ).
It's a good ultrabook, with good GPU.
Please remember to negotiate a bit from the RM2399 HP list price smile.gif
Yes, please extend warranty to 3 years if you could afford it smile.gif
Also get a cooling pad (~ RM80 will do. Or use table fan laugh.gif ) when you use ultrabook (especially powerful one like this). Heat (and dust) is enemy no.1 for laptop smile.gif

Thanks sifu! I'll get this a.s.a.p notworthy.gif
