  1. Preferred Brand: Microsoft, Samsung, Asus, Dell, etc.
  2. Budget: < 5K
  3. Usage: Programmer
  4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13"-15"

Looking for something of premium build quality, hopefully with a good screen. Currently using Vostro 3400. Is there no affordable, no-nonsense laptop with a good screen?

What I've been looking at:
  • Microsoft Surface Pro
  • Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A
  • Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C)
  • Dell XPS 13

All of them have the RAM soldered on sweat.gif

1. No specific preference for a brand. As long as its not Acer or Apple, i would be happy. I've had my fair share of history with Acer, and i dislike Mac OS's.

2. Rm 3000 (Probably my maximum, but i think i can stretch a little from there. However, Rm 3000 is optimum.)

3. Main usage will be browsing the web and university assignments. Oh, did i mention gaming ?? Yes, i'm planning to game on it, quite a bit. So something powerful would be great.

4. Preferably 14" or 15.6".

I will be gaming on the laptop. Playing on high or ultra settings, for the games i play, with a smooth fps would be a godsend. However, seeing as how low my budget is, i would understand if it could only run the game on low or medium settings. My previous laptop was a Acer 5750G. However, the heat problems and a few others that occurred, has pretty much left that laptop of mine in a bad shape. The recent motherboard repair, had the technician informing me that my laptop is considered unstable. Hence, no further repairs should be made.

The preferences listed here is an added bonus, if the laptop has these specifications while still remaining under the budget, or slightly over, that would be amazing.

- i7. Preferably 3rd Generation.
- GTX graphic card. However, looking at the miserable budget, i highly doubt this is possible at all. So a good GT6XX would be great.
- Something higher that 4GB RAM if possible.
- I personally do not mind a 5k rpm HDD, as long as there is more that 500GB.
- A laptop that doesn't heat-up like hell. A laptop with good cooling is quite an important criteria for me. However, i understand the limitations of a laptop's cooling capabilities. I just want to see your recommendations.
- I will be planning to lug around the laptop. So something light would be nice. However, the weight will be the least of my concerns for the laptop.

On a final note, i dont exactly play games that are extremely demanding. Much of old games like GTA:SA. However, i noticed my old Acer ran into difficulty every now and then running Skyrim and GTA:4. I will probably end up playing League of Legends on it. Thanks, i'm anxious to hear from you. Sorry about the long message/stupidity of the requests.  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
