Since you travel, you need something light. i5 ULV CPU can handle amatuer level photo editing. Casual gaming - you mean those flash game / FB game? Then Intel HD 4000 could handle the graphic requirement.

With your budget and preference, there isn't much choices:

Asus 14"
K46CM-WX090H, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M@RM2199[2kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8, OD
13"
UX32VD-R3001H, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT620M + 24GB mSATA SSD + 500GB HDD@RM2999[1.45kg], 4GB, W8
Lenovo 14"
S400, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM1999[1.8kg], 4GB, W7HB; AMD HD7450M/W8@RM2199

If you are willing to consider other brands:
Acer
M5-481TG-53316G12, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT640M LE (28nm Kepler) + 128GB SSD@RM2899[1.85kg], 6GB, W7HP
Dell
Inspiron 14z, i5-3337U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2549[1.87kg], 4GB, W8 *no VGA port, OD
HP
Envy4-1204TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD8750M@RM2399[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8
Envy4-1111TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD7670M + [32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)]@RM2599[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, W8
Samsung
NP530U3C, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM2699[1.52kg], 4GB, W8
NP530U4C, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT620M + 24GB mSATA + 1TB HDD@RM2999, 6GB, W7HP
Sony
Vaio SVT13125CV, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2799[1.56kg], 4GB, W8, color: silver; Vaio carryin case
Toshiba
Satellite U940-1001X, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT630M + 32GB mSATA + 640GB HDD@RM2699[1.7kg], 4GB, W8, backlit keyboard

thanks for the informative reply! smile.gif
casual gaming i mean maybe those blizzard's game in medium setting haha.
I'm actually struggling between 13" and 14" of the size. I travel a lot and i have a desktop at home, should i consider going 13"?
and yep i dont mind considering other brand as well. Just that i got better feedback from friends that experienced with Lenovo and Asus.

Blizzad - you mean Starcraft 2, Diablo 3?
Medium setting, your best bet is the K46CM, M5, Envy 4, U940, with GT630M level GPU.
If you go 13", there is no ultrabook with discrete GPU, except the UX32VD.
There is also this 13" Sony, which don't have ultrabook sticker, but still pretty light:
Vaio SVS13125CV, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M LE@RM3099[1.72kg], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W8; colors: maroon/white/black/pink; Vaio carrying case

for all the sifu here, need your help once again...

1. Preferred Brand - Anything, or dell for its support.
2. Budget - RM3k
3. Usage - photoshop and casual gaming (medium or low setting for diablo 3, starcraft 2 is fine), i travel alot.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 13/14

i prefer something light, portable and easy to carry. ScreenSize doesn't matter to be small.

Unfortunately, Dell don't have any ultrabook within your budget that could do some gaming tongue.gif Closest:
Dell
Inspiron 14z, i5-3337U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2549[1.87kg], 4GB, W8 *no VGA port, OD (GPU slightly underpower, need to game in low detail)
XPS 14, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT630M + 32GB mSATA+ 500GB(5400rpm) HDD + (1600x900)@RM3849[2.1kg], 4GB, backlit, spill resistant keyboard, W8 (over your budget)

Consider this:
HP
Envy4-1204TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD8750M@RM2399[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8

The HD8750M is among the most powerful GPU you will find in ultrabook. HP warranty service is also pretty good smile.gif Extend warranty to 3 years.

Prices are RSP, negotiable.

thanks again bro!
i was considering XPS13, is that any good compare to XPS14? and i read some acticles that HD4000 can really handle most of my gaming needs.

As an ultrabook, XPS13 is top notch smile.gif Also a lot lighter than XPS14 (but the HD+ screen in XPS14 is real nice)
XPS13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399[1.36kg], 4GB, W8, backlit

HD4000 improve leaps and bounds from HD3000. But to play diablo3 and starcraft2, you really have to set it to low setting.

The HD4600 (tentatively named) in Haswell (Haswell CPU may carry differet GPU, unlike Ivy bridge which all have HD4000) is showing GT620/630M level of performance (you can search for the leak in Anandtech), but you have to wait until end of 2013 to get this laugh.gif

hmm.gif but you get a macbook air by adding another RM300. any reason that considering XPS13 over macbook air?
MacBookAir 13", i5-3427U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1440x900)@RM3699[1.35kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, Mac OSX

I think i won't be considering any ultrabooks or macbook air. I tried macbook air 11 last week and was playing casually starcraft 2 and diablo 3. really cannot tahan the heat and even with low setting the performance like somewhere lacking. Looks like my requirement got to be discrete graphic card blush.gif

Can someone suggest me a good shop at lowyat to shop for this Sony Vaio S Series?

It's not a matter of whether the laptop is ultrabook or not. It is whether the laptop come with reasonably powerful GPU to handle your game smile.gif

Consider this 14" baby:
Envy4-1238TX, i5-3337U + AMD HD8750M@RM2099[Beats][1.75kg], 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8
Good CPU, Good GPU (around GT640M level), 2 speakers with a sub-woofer smile.gif Increase the RAM, swap in a 256G SSD, still cheaper than the Sony and at about the same weight.

thanks for another good suggestion bro. smile.gif I still feel that 14" is too big for me to travel and carrying around. 11" is too small, 13" feels right.

If you are not in a hurry, then may be wait until 4Q13 for Haswell. Haswell come with 3 type of IGPU, the most powerful one GT3, seems to be able to run at GT620M/630M level smile.gif (the problem is maybe ULV or Y series CPU will not carry the GT3 IGPU tongue.gif )
Anyway, good luck hunting for the Sony (errr .. how you seen the real thing yet? )  laugh.gif

haha i need a laptop like next week sweat.gif cant wait any longer.
ya i think i saw the s series at sony centre before. feels alright. but i'll definitely try out and consider those few model that you kindly suggested previously rclxms.gif

yet, still my dream laptop is lenovo x230, but too expensive rclxub.gif

X230 is nice, but you can't play you game with it (only HD4000).
Too bad that you find the illegear R-11 too small.
Well if you ever want to upgrade in the future, keep an eye on illegear. Heard from Prince J that they could be launching 13" model later this year (but don't know how late lah laugh.gif )

i go hunt at mid valley it fair tomorrow rclxms.gif
