sorry about that
i"m gonna take IT but not sure gonna major in what yet
my preferred brand is dell, asus or lenovo
budget around rm4k-4.5k
gonna use it for college and a little gaming
don't really know anything about the specs but just want it to be top notch
and i don't really care about the weight
but the screensize is preferred to be around 14 inch
overall, i just want a laptop with the best specs for my budget
*
Most powerful 14" money can buy in Malaysia:

Dell
Alienware M14x R2, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M (1GB) + (1600x900)@RM3949[Klipsch], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); [CPU Options: i7-3630QM - i7-3840QM], W8, 2 years warranty (when buy online, just upgrade the CPU to cheapest i7, and upgrade warranty to 3 year. Don't waste money for 2GB GT650M, the GT650M could not utilise 2GB VRAM)

Lenovo
Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799, 4GB, 500GB, W8, 120wPSU, swappable ODD (upgrade warranty to 3 year on site. Later this year, Lenovo is going to release an ultrabay GT650M, buy it and you will have 2 GT650M running at SLI mode)

Price is RSP, negotiable.

1. Preferred Brand - Dell due to after sales, considering other brands
2. Budget - RM3000 to RM4500
3. Usage - Multimedia editing (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - High resolution display for more working space, eg. 1920x1080

Side note: Other than MacBook Pro, does any of the company offer a IPS screen?

There are some notebooks that come with IPS screens, but unfortunately most of them are not really meant for photo editing sad.gif
For Dell, can consider the Inspiron 15R SE nod.gif
15.6"
Dell Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional, W7HP/W8

or

Dell Vostro 3560, i7-3632QM + AMD HD7670M + 32GB SSD + 750GB(7200rpm) HDD + (1920x1080)@RM3209[2.57kg], 8GB, W7HB; colors: red/silver/bronze

*Vostro is budget-business line model, and comes entirely in matte, pretty useful if don't like fingerprints on the chassis laugh.gif
*use remaining money to extend warranty to 3 years on-site. And also upgrade the HDD to a full SSD (256GB should be enough). Having a fast SSD will help improve Photoshop loadtimes significantly brows.gif
*8GB RAM is more than enough, so noneed to upgrade anymore, save the money for something else icon_rolleyes.gif

The Lenovo Y500 is the one to go for, leaving you with plenty of money left to upgrade to a SSD (which last longer than conventional HDDs).. Use also the remaining budget to extend the warranty to 3 years (that's the maximum already unfortunately).. The rest is up to you to take good care of it so that it lasts 5 years icon_rolleyes.gif
