Hey guys~ I needed a laptop that can support my study at programming. My budget will be around + - RM3,000. Hope you guys will help me out
*
seems like you are female, i would suggest 14" screen laptops. take a look at these :

Dell Inspiron 14R, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM1899[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W8
ASUS A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT645M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8
Acer Aspire V3-471G-53212G75d, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM1899[2.3kg], 2GB, 750GB W8
HP Pavilion Dv4-5114TX, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM2399[Beats], 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W7HP

use the remaining money to extend the warranty to 3 years. please state if you want ultrabooks or add requests so i can give other suggestions.

thanx bro.
really appreciate your help.
but i'm wondering, is A45VD-VX054H not powerful enough?
can you tell me the difference?
seeing the specs it's just about the same (donno man.i really donno)
if i may ask, what's your recommendation and why?
truth is, i'm searching for laptop matching the specs of macbook pro 13" but its drawbacks are the graphic card and its price..
*
1. the A45VD is not really powerful as the graphics card equipped is GT645M with DDR3 memory, while the others are GT650M and GTX660M with GDDR5 memory. also, the others above are equipped with core i7 processors, while the A45VD comes with core i5.

2. the lenovo y580, because with that price, you get high performance value laptop + good after sales service. ASUS has good build quality but after sales service is poor in malaysia.

disaster! called Dell about the status of my ordered 15R and they tell me that model is out of stock even though it is 2-3 days estimated delivery. and since they don't know when it is going to be in stock again. i told them to cancel my order and luckily they have not charged my credit card yet. so right now, the asus A55 is mighty good. will likely be buying that tomorrow from digital mall. does anyone know if they accept credit cards with no charge?
*
i never bought from ASUS with credit card before but i just know that there is a phrase called 'terms and conditions apply'.

Hi forumers smile.gif
any recommendations?

1. Preferred Brand = anything
2. Budget = strictly between 2000-3000.
3. Usage = programming, light photo & video editing, AutoCAD and some engineering softwares. Also play games such as FIFA 13, Minecraft, StarCraft 2, SimCity. no heavy FPS games. only CS, Blackshot will do.
4. Screen size = 14'' and 15.6''
5. Special restrictions:
-processor must be i7.
-no ultrabook
-GPU performance same as Nvidia GT640 or higher
-budget for laptop should be as low as possible to enable purchasing other things such as 128/256GB SSD, extra RAM, and Xbox/Razer controller within the 2k-3k.
-accept FreeDOS/W7/W8

thank you biggrin.gif
*
here are some options. smile.gif

Lenovo Z400, i7-3632QM + Nvidia GT645M@RM2699, 4GB, 1TB, W8; backlit, 2 years warranty
Lenovo Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799, 4GB, 500GB, W8, 120wPSU, swappable ODD

Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2799[2.38kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional

price is negotiable, so negotiate with the seller kao kao till the budget you want and get your SSD upgrade and accessories. smile.gif

ASUS A55VJ-SX093H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT635M@RM2499[2.52kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black

price is negotiable. the reason that i dont recommend Dell 15R SE is that it doesnt come with numpad (which has better specs), so i only list down the laptops with numpad.

recommendations for you:

ASUS N56VZ-S3151H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799[2.7kg][B&O], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black

Lenovo Z500, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT645M @RM2299, 4GB, 1TB, W8; backlit, 2 years warranty (4-cell)

toshiba is very expensive especially when it comes with graphics card. also, dell 15" models only comes with ATi graphics card. if you dont mind, i will recommend it also.

mostly the older to recent games that do not require killer spec (i probably wont bother with the likes of Crysis 3 that requires high spec)

for now im interested on the Lenovo model you have recommended (learning about ASUS's horrible customer service really killed my interest on them, thank god my current laptop has no problem), are there no Dell alternatives that is on par with it?
*
Dell New Inspiron 14R, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT730M + (1366x768;touch)@RM2099[2.33kg], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), Linux; W8@RM2399
Dell New Inspiron 15R, i7-3537U + AMD HD8730M@RM2949[2.32kg], 6GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL

if can, i would suggest the 15R, as its a newer generation of ATi graphics card, which would kill the GT650M (perhaps on par with?)
