The Y500 touchpad issue is well known. The problem is with the Elan touchpad, not software.
I understand the latest batch Y500 manufactured after mid Mar13 (iinm) don't have the touchpad issue anymore (use another touchpad). In certain countries, Lenovo also offer customers who bought Y500 previously and complain about touchpad a service to change the touchpad at SC (but so far no forumers in LYN has reported this in Malaysia  hmm.gif )

If you don't game, then you really don't need a "gaming rig" laugh.gif
The 15R SE has pretty decent GPU as well, just not as powerful as the GT650M.
But I know the Y500 do look nicer laugh.gif
Anyway, don't worry about the "1 day" offer from the Dell online sales agent. Look to chat with the same agent again anytime, he/she will be able to offer you the same deal again biggrin.gif
If I remember correctly, you opt for 3 years warranty? Try to hack down the price by 10% (from the price show online after your customisation). That is consider good deal. If you can hack down even lower, even better laugh.gif

Hmmm,I see.It should be safe if buy from reputable forumer like devour. Then I doubt the unit that sold at my local store is a grey unit? doh.gif

I don't mind the looking seriously lol.but it will be a "+" anyway smile.gif I heard people said that gaming rig provide you a smoother experience and more powerful in whatever you do when compare to a normal laptop like dell inspiron sad.gif
I get offered from the SA for 3.35k for 3 years accidental warranty, backlit keyboard and an upgrade for the laptop bag.Is it nice enough to convince me to buy the dell SE over lenovo? sad.gif discount for about 12%

Read the 1st post of this thread to seel how to differentiate local set vs grey import for Y500.

Gaming rig is just laptop with more powerful GPU, CPU, etc. Nothing fancy laugh.gif

If you really want smooth experience, for your usage, you actually need SSD (rather than overpowering CPU / GPU) smile.gif

12% discount from Dell is good. 3 years accidental warranty coverage is very good smile.gif

Thanks for the link smile.gif

So do you mean buy different laptop that not so powerful and just buy a SSD and plug in? If is that so,which laptop would you recommend?

Yeap, quite tempting for it and feel like make a deal already.but yet I still finding other sales assistant for the biggest offer sad.gif

I remember you want FHD screen right? Unfortunately, there are not many models in Malaysia with FHD screen. And all 15" FHD models come with i7 laugh.gif
Don't need to buy SSD from laptop brands (they charge high price for it). Stay within your budget, get the laptop first. Save a bit more (128G SSD ~ RM300+/-, 256G SSD ~ RM600+/-, but the price is dropping fast every year), buy the SSD and upgrade yourself later (will not voide laptop hardware warranty). SSD usually come with 5 years warranty from SSD brand.
FYI, Micron recently launched a 1TB SSD for USD600. Personally, I wait for the day when we can get 1TB SSD for RM600  laugh.gif

Edit:
Aiya, I forgot, there is this:
MSI
GE620DX, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT635M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2399, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS
Old model, with Sandy Bridge i5, but FHD. Used to be a popular model 2 years ago. MSI Malaysia still sell brand new unit. Not sure if you can find it in KK.

Yea because I wanted more work space sad.gif Seems like Lenovo Y500 with GT750M coming soon to Malaysia?Doubt how long does it take to release at Malaysia? sad.gif
noted it,will upgrade after get the laptop smile.gif do you mean replaced the 16/32GB mSATA inside the laptop with big capacity SSD?
Aaaw,so expensive. The price can buy a laptop already sad.gif Waiting 1TB SSD like HDD price (Y)

I would search around at my local store this weekend, thanks for the recommendation smile.gif

Yeah, its been like that for awhile... the only way you can do it is to chat with their online sales agents, or simply drop them an email saying that you are interested and wait for their response..
Its a pretty stupid move by Dell I would say considering their business notebooks are really good  nod.gif

It's hard to choose which laptop and not convenience as well sad.gif
Yeap I heard many of them said the business class laptop have a durability and good quality build.
Anyway,I feel Acer V3 with full hd ips and use remaining money to upgrade SSD will be better choice than Dell Inspiron 15R SE and Y500 right? smile.gif Plan getting it by tomorrow already smile.gif excited biggrin.gif

Online chat or call.
Don't drop email and wait for response. Before my IT bought me the E6430, I main-main left a message to them through its tool. Up to today (4 months and counting), nobody from Dell call me laugh.gif

lol~I thought Dell Service is the best sad.gif
Anyway thanks for the reply and the guidance along these posts. I'm now feel like buy the Acer V3 full hd ips and use the remaining money to top up SSD will be better than Dell 15R SE and Y500 right? smile.gif
