I am curious, why did you say they will perceive you as cheap labour?Personally, I don't believe there's no chance to make another career move if you don't like your current job in a specific area. If you don't like networking.. go and try ERP consulting.. or vice-versa. It may take oneself to adjust but the thing that you must develop is a good solid foundation and attitude for learning. With some background in the area of specialty, you'll catch up pretty easily. The IT world is moving so fast, everything you know now will be considered outdated in 3 years .. you will be constantly learning all the way. Just develop a good positive attitude towards learning and making the technology and business for work your company and slowly build your resume. Your employability and bigger salary will come later. Why worry?
