QUOTE(benny888 @ Jan 12 2013, 10:35 PM) To those using the above services, quick note. You might be charged for the service request, so it's best to call 123 directly still if you have the time. I was browsing through my bill when I noted the "service request" charges, of which is probably from these because I have never used them previously. |

Damn, I always use it to check my current usage. How much they charged you? Per session? |

Corporate data plan 3GB and unlimidted RM99 have upgraded to 5GB and 30GB respectively. The downside is no more unthrottled speed after the data limit.

I noticed an item on my bill stated as "Info request/Content SMS request". This would be in the SMS section of your detailed bill.As far as I know, I've never replied to any messages from unknown numbers. I've also never got this charge before. I have 2 lines under my account, and the past month my wife was demonstrating to me on both numbers how to check data usage using the automated messages described previously. Sure enough, the charges popped up on my bill which more or less corresponds to how much I requested at rm0.15 per reply. Yet to clarify with Maxis though, I didn't think too much of it since I never actually bother using the service. |

This is normally for those 'Reply Y to join the contest' (or something similar like 'Reply NO to opt out/unsubscribe) type of SMS. Most common ones are SMS by banks whereby they will charge you for any inquiry made via SMS.As far as I know, I've never replied to any messages from unknown numbers. I just ignore them, unless they found some way to charge me for sending their spam. And the charged amount corresponds with the Maxis service replies. |

QUOTE(INGfusion @ Jan 14 2013, 03:57 AM) If your friend turned ON 'Find My iPhone' feature previously, you may try to locate the device with any other iPhone with 'Find My iPhone' apps installed. Just log in with the lost phone's Apple ID will do. |

Lost phone is considered as good as gone. There is no IMEI tracking/blacklisting in all M'sia telcos or MCMC.
You may be able to Find My iPhone, and let's say it points to KLCC, so ? Very very thin chance, if the thief is caught somewhere, someplace. And the police are good enough to check the phonebook list (provided not yet reset to factory default) and call you. |

QUOTE(INGfusion @ Jan 14 2013, 05:55 PM) very slim chance to get back.find my iphone, needs the phone to be online (connected to wifi/3g) to get tracked. and the update is not that instant. this make the chance of tracing the phone not high. perhaps the only last thing you can do is, delete off your personal data using 'find my iphone', which might probably worked when the phone is online. |
