The advantage of having a processor is to give your installer more headache. rclxms.gif

active
1. HU with built in processor like pioneer P99, clarion D2, Alpine F#1 9990 n etc..(with TA)
2. external unit using digital processor like Alpine H800, Audison bit one, JBL MS-8 n etc..(with TA)
3. external unit using analog processor like Phoenix gold, audiocontol n etc..(no TA)

(2) not at HU has a digital out/optical out. therefore it shall be connected via RCA to digital proc. meaning multiple conversion from HU(DAC) to input stage digital proc(ADC) and output stage(DAC).

(3) connected via RCA to analog proc. all processing done in analog stage

advantages of active:
* can tweak everyday at the touch of a button with built in mulitple memory settings.
* all xover points available : sub(HP/LP) midbass (LP/HP) midrange (LP/HP) tweeter (HP)
* 30 band EQ left and right
* Time alignment (center staging will not be an issue anymore)

listening impression: overall will sound fantastic as u are able to manipulate the xover,TA,EQ,gain settings for fine tuning. one can also learn on tuning. can be fun!!
cons - will not be able to play all music genre well!! sometimes can sound clinical or too analytical sounding. one will NOT realised this if didnt expose to 'analog sounding' character system.

oops..wrongly login. my customer ID actually.
above was posted by hifi creations

add info:
time alignment will only sound good in 1 seating only as the delay is set for that position

try it..lots of future possiblity in upgrading drivers, 2-way to 3-way n etc..

you need to buy a pioneer optical converter...it's actually only the optical lens connection available. you need buy the lens to generate the optical signal...

i thought sound processors can accept optical input via HU, so the HU only sends raw data feed to the proc, and the proc acts as the DAC as well and output analog signals to the amp/xover and then to the relevant speakers?

Don't play with TA.

Not good, it will cause anxiety and restlessness.

When you hear the guitar is playing on the left, you will panic wondering if your right side of the system is ok not...why no sound one.
... All about TA. laugh.gif

Try and listen to 3 singers performing. TA is awesome.
