IMHO, better protection - Diztronic Matte TPU, minimal protection - Rearth Ringke Slim Case.

I'm getting the first one. biggrin.gif

Diztronic TPU is 0.5 inch thick, Rearth Ringke Slim Case is 0.4 inch thick.

How about the Nillkin Super Frosted Shield? How does it compare to those 2 above?

my Nexus 4 (using latest CM10.1 nightly) can last around 14-16 hours on a regular day's use (of course with sync off, nfc off and Google Now off).

Definitely better than my previous S2 battery life.

Also overall quality of camera is better than S2 but worser than S3.

Dude,if you turn of everything then basically you're crippling the functions of Android.

Even with my S2 now I turn on everything except for the location.Acceptable usage time with my self modded Samsung 4.1.2 ROM.

well, i don't ever need push email, nothing to use nfc with and Google Now cards are not really useful in Malaysia at the moment. smile.gif

Really? I found them to be useful except for the NFC which I don't have.
Google Now usually show my sports team result once I turn on my data.Quite helpful since the Spanish League matches finish late & I cannot watch them.Looking forward to see the improvement in Android 4.2.1.
Push notification is important because for some reason people seems to prefer communicating me through emails.
*
You're right about the sports cards. they are indeed useful and cool at the same time...for those who can appreciate them. However, i don't really watch or follow football stuff. tongue.gif

What i meant is Google Now is not as useful as it should be - like in the US where u can get all sorts of information which are more relevant. Heck we dont even have official support for Google Maps Navigation yet!

You mean showing your current location to another location (eg : your home)?
Mine does that everyday.
*
Nope. I mean turn-by-turn navigation in Google Maps. Officially it's not supported in Malaysia.

Speaking of which, does it detect Air Asia emails and flight details in my inbox?  hmm.gif
*
No it doesn't support Air Asia (..yet?). Afaik it only supports United Airlines at the moment.

I noticed the N4's camera is not very good. In fact, in certain lighting conditions it provides pictures that are quite grainy and blurry.

I just tried it like 5 min ago under normal office lighting using the stock camera app.

OK, of those "fixes"
First one:  Bumping video bitrate from 12 Mbps to 20 Mbps.  This isn't going to help much if at all.  12 Mbps is more than enough for any cameraphone.  It's utterly insane for it to exceed that of many Canon dedicated camcorders (17 Mbps).  Garbage in, garbage out - if the sensor is poor, the sensor is poor, and throwing bitrate at it will have very litle benefit.  Most of what you get from the first mod is going to be wasted storage space and a good helping of placebo effect.

The second one:  That will do NOTHING for image quality.  It is bumping up image DECODING memory.  DECODING.  Taking photos requires ENCODING images.  (Unless that is being used for debayering - but every mobile camera I've seen does debayering within the sensor subsystem and the host processor sees debayered RGB or YUV data.)  In addition, as far as memory preallocation for image processing - it either works, or it doesn't.  That mod does nothing but waste 20MB of system memory.

a couple of pages back we discussed that the SP does not cover the sides of the bazel. does it at least extend to the edge of this casing?
*

example, Is like buying a Burger for FREE but have to pay RM10.

Anyway... anyone found out the 4.2 better or 4.2.1 better?
*
you need 4.2.1 update to fix the December bug.

you will need the donate version for 4.2.1
*
just choose 4.2 when using the toolkit from mskip. it works fine on 4.2.1 as well. i've done it many times on multiple nexus 4 devices

you have auto-sync on. turn it off.

Please read this guide:
http://support.google.com/android/bin/answ...&answer=1663705

Also you can remove the picasa albums that was synced from G+ by clearing the Gallery app data and rebooting your phone (of course you must first disable auto-sync so that it doesn't resync)
