i dont have the address exactly .. but its very easy to get there ... exit the bukit tambun exit and take a left turn > all the way straight till you reach a T-junction > proceed on straight > take the first left turn > all the way straight till the end. pond is located at the end of the road ( Jalan Seri Tambun 1) . yup there are open everyday from 9am till midnight. Best catch rate timings based on my frequent visits there last year is morning session (around 11am) .. afternoon session (around 2pm).. evening session (after 7pm ..) Most of the time I would highly recommend play with a floater.. live floater preferably thumbup.gif  .. but if 2 hours in and no bites then don't hesitate to play bottom. nod.gif  100% guaranteed catch rate. haha  brows.gif

Entrance fee              : RM22
Bait (Dedak) 1 bucket : RM10
Bom spring                : RM3
Have fun and enjoy !  biggrin.gif

Fellow anglers,
Would you guys be interested with naked rod?

If so, I'll purchase I'm bulk for the reel seat which could save a lot of $$

Please revert soonest

Kolam Mekong Bukit Tambun.  smile.gif
oppss... sorry bro mistake..what I meant was proceed on straight after the toll exit till you reach a T-junction and then take a left turn.

its rm22 per entry from 9am - 12 midnight.  laugh.gif
yup..  icon_idea.gif  keep the live float in a movable distance of 1/2 a meter. or you can run the line through the float from one end of the float to the other end of the float .. something like tunneling the float .. well either way the point of concept is the same ..  have fun bro .  smile.gif

**when you reach the pond, it will be adjacent to a flyover running on its right .. look below the flyover there is a small road that will lead you to another pond .. you can try there as well . both ponds are managed by different owners but the main entrance is the same.
*
nice info, thx. how long is the leader from hook to the float bro?
and what is the purpose of the running float? it will most likely end up at the nearer end to us only rite? how can it move when there's the bait hanging and acting as weight? even when fish pull it doesnt serve any purpose. sorry for my lack of knowledge on float tongue.gif

hi guys, i was there in kepong tackle, then went to digital, bought emily a new setup, and was looking for a rod myself. budget around RM300 so i get to look at some of the shimanos, too bad cant find any as i dont like brown color cork and most shimano rods come with it, also of course my budget restricted my choices. then i thought about u guys doing the custom rod, my question is: if a shimano rod cost RM300++, which is around the same budget as u guys' custom made rod, why custom made? what are the advantages of a custom rod, other than design, length, rod strength, which can be easily found? also, if 2 rods using the same fuji guide, fuji real seat, same material for the blank, and if the price difference is quite a bit, why so? izzit simply only bcuz of the brand? what else is there in a rod that i should know? can anyone enlighten me? icon_question.gif notworthy.gif

you basically get to decide on every aspect of the rod, from start to finish, according to your whims and fancies  ... within reason biggrin.gif
it's an alternative to shopping off the rack especially if you want something that's not mass produced or easily available
eg, i like the storm yellow mojo rods but not their micro guides
i want spiral but apart from the batch of spiral daiwas back in the 80s, there aren't any mass produced spirals

blank
binding ... wotever colours or combination you want
guides
reel seat
handle ... material and design

takin the handle angle further ... split or non-split, type of butt/gimbal/gimbal+slip on butt, length and material of handle for your hand
best measured in person
how do you want your foregrip

customed to meet your needs/wants, fit and usage
one may choose to keep it as lightweight as possible or with the best parts you choose (could be better than the mass produced)
you may also choose to keep the cost down
tackle pricing generally includes R&D and branding cost
*
thx bro for the explanation, i think i get it, sometimes mass produced rods i like 90% of it, but that 10% part turned me off, that kinda feeling..haha

Well said. Was about to reply the same LOL

Mostly for the purpose of lowering the cost with the specific specifications that you wanted it smile.gif all in all of your desired rod smile.gif

Eg:
You wanted split handle but those you see doesn't face you
You wanted split reel seat but it would be very costly or limited options available
You wanted closer or smaller guides but limited options or cost
You wanted specific poundage but again you may not find what you wanted

Etc etc etc...

Factoring all the possible demand or personal preferences, might as well build one smile.gif

For specific fishing mode, jigging can be ketiak game for light jigging. Some prefer support by arm, some prefer support via harness. In this case, body measurements is important to remove fatigue whilst fishing. Imagine you gotta jig or pop at least 2 thousands times a day. smile.gif

Another point is your reel, where every reel weight differently. With the right rod balancing, an angler would be able to jig the whole day. I've see many that pairs wrongly for the fishing method.

Another major point is the type of fish you are aftering. Eg: parrot fish would be best paired with fast tapered rod for high sensitivity plus a strong backbone. Heavy jigging best paired with 60/40 backbone to allow the jig plates to dance...

Too many factors to share. Gonna take a whole night to explore and explains smile.gif

But I'm sure you know where I'm coming from

thx vincent, guess i got it. 1 more question: a RM1-2k rod and a RM500 rod, is there such huge difference? i can understand guides affecting casting range, real seat and handle are for personal preference, of course balancing as well, but what else in there that makes it so expensive? an expensive rod blank and a normal rod blank, what kind of differences we're talking about? sorry man got a lot questions tongue.gif

also, i'm looking at Daiwa Team rod, cost RM300, looks nice i really like it, or anyone has a better suggestion? (dont like cork handle) thx

just found out daiwa team rod is going for USD75 in US, here RM300
a abu garcia volatile rod going for USD100, here RM330. veritas also going for USD 100, here RM250
how is that so? if conversion rate if 3.3, USD 75 should be RM250, no? or izzit daiwa here in msia is a bit more expensive? icon_question.gif thx in advance

not all blanks are made equal.

some blanks are lighter, more sensitive and yet have the same strength with a blank with the opposite characteristic. most of the time, a lot of R&D has been put into developing these new lighter and more sensitive blanks, hence we are paying more for the R&D cost and on branding as well.

the more reputable blanks like north fork composites, st croix starts from rm500 onwards, fuji titanium guides is around rm1k. u do the maths.

hey guys, i have something to discuss about. i've been getting much criticisms from my family members about me going fishing.

in a nutshell, they have been saying that i am ~wasting time~
they say..
- that i shud rather get a fish from the market
- wasting petrol going to the place to fish
- fishing is uncle's activity
- my skin is tanned till i look like a malay (no racism intended lol)

perhaps all i need is to get my full time job (i am 23 y/o). atm i am waiting for my result to be out at May and i am currently looking for a job. i guess maybe is becoz they don't 'see' me actually looking for a job that caused them to be so unsupportive.
*
u see, problem with parents is, nothing you do is right, if u just stay at home do nothing, they complain, go fishing they complain, go yumcha with friends always, complain, u read a lot, they say u dont go out and play, u go out play a lot, they say u dont stay at home. when later in ur life u move out cuz working somewhere else, they stopped complaining, cuz they dont see what u're doing, that's when u get ur freedom drool.gif u see, when my mom comes down visit, she'll stay for a few days, everything oso complain, from my lunch and dinner time, to my everything, not yet on the fishing though she doesnt know that much lol. some ppl say families are the ones usually to bring us down, they are against everything we do. try tell ur parents u wanna do business with ur friends, b4 u utter the next word, they will stop u, giving u negative feedback. just food for thoughts nod.gif

maybe u can tell them, in fishing, u learned
- patience
- u learn everything new everyday
- u get to know fantastic ppl from this thread who shares their experiences with u, SHARING, u dont get this more that often nowadays, that u learned to share
- ur time spent in the wild, get some fresh air, not in the city all the time only
- fishing is not uncle's activity, they have to understand its a hobby, a sport
- healthy ppl's skin are usually tanned tongue.gif

etc etc

Majorly comes fom the quality of the blank. This involve the amount of graphite, materials, bonding substance.. Etc. all these involves money.

Secondly, it's about research and development. The amount of test or damaged items due to testing has to be factor into account $$$

Thirdly, gaji of the rod builder, tester, design fella and machinery also factor in $$$

Import taxes???

Branding exposure $$???

A lot to go on with smile.gif

Pardon me with no puns intended: it's like you're comparing BMW with and type of rollable vehicle with engines biggrin.gif

Take BMW vs Honda and you relate it back to rod vs rod smile.gif thou shall find answers.... Hhahahahaha
*
thx rory. i got it now. never expected guides alone can cost above 1k. i thought the same quality bmw same accessories but with diff branding and diff prices. doh.gif bmw headlights cost 10k++ each, buatan mehsia few hundred a pair

Til now i have been fishing at this place for 10 times.not even get a single fish.try using different bait and lure, tak boleh also.wtf....
*
it happens all the time lol, but i think key is to find out what fish is in there. i've been to a huge pond, not many ppl fish there, and a lot a lot splashes. what else, cast la. lures, soft bait, spoon, ntg work. and my hand was so tired cant even lift the rod, guess wat, a medium size fish splashed in front of my eye, BANDARAYA!! ahaha
have u tried cacing? universal bait. is the water clear or muddy? do u see a lot ikan longkang at the side? wat time u fish? again, key is to find out wat fish is in there. my 2cent newbie opinion

saw red talapia,looks like koi fish,toman.heard ppl say got haruan and keli also.water dark,fish there sometimes afternoon or evening.tried cacing,katak,chicken liver,roti,dedak,ikan keli,chicken meat,float popper,dive popper,lure frog,lure rat.last go home with weed.
*
umm..tilapia shud be easy with cacing, if it is wild pond, even heavily fished pond also can get, like lombong buaya in puchong. u tried with float? if it is full of weeds maybe the bait sinks into the weed, fish cant notice/reach. koi lookalike, should be carp family, carp is vegeterian, dedak/bread, they're bottom feeders, google up some recipe for the dedak, maybe try float also if fail. toman, cant help u, they eat only when they like, lures with fast retrieve, or if keli and katak fail, try lampam, recent tournament in tasik titiwangsa, toman only whack small lampam, else all white fruit. most important, try try and try, when u get it right, that is ur sweet spot already. otherwise move to other pond lo, haha
again, 2 cents opinion, just some suggestions u might wanna try. good luck, hope u come back with some pics with the prized fish on ur hand icon_rolleyes.gif
